Do i get my moneys worth in content if i were to spend the 50$ for the upgrade? I already have lightfall and I have completed all of it so far so im just wondering

it will give you the next three seasons for the year, and the dungeon key/pass for the year. since seasons will be about $12 going forward and the dungeon key should be $20,
it saves you some money without going into the silver bundles you would have to buy for extra if they don't change that aspect.
there's also some cosmetics and in-game materials you'll get access to but real life money wise those are negligible.

meaning you can't just buy the $10 silver bundle when they make the changes. you'll have to actually spend more than $12 to get the right amount of silver to buy a season
so if you plan on playing destiny for the rest of this content year, it is worth it. if you're not sure, then buying stuff a la carte might be better

what do they add throughout the year this is my first season playing destiny so idk what to expect

every 3 months, in general, a new season launches. like this was season of defiance and it ends in two weeks.
since that season launched with lightfall, it's shorter than the seasons for the rest of the year. it has about 5 weeks of story while the other seasons will have about 8 weeks of story.
so each season will have about 8 weeks of story, a three or 6 player activity to acquire seasonal loot, and one other activity that gives seasonal loot or an exotic mission to speak very generally.
this season was the defiant battle grounds and vexcalibur mission. last season it was heist battle grounds and the exotic pulse rifle revision zero mission.
before that was 6 player ketch crash and 3 player expedition mission.
you can look up previous seasons but they usually follow that format. so, 8 weeks of story, new seasonal armor and weapons, and new exotic in the season pass.
the dungeon key will give you access to two dungeons, one will be next season and the other will arrive in season 23. these will have a new armor set, new weapons, new exotic, and some other cosmetic items to earn
