For me terminal overload cheese gives items that are 2-3 power levels below my max possible. Do I need to wear my max gear before looting the chest or sm? I don't own enough dlc to farm raids (do have lightfall tho).

I don't think you can farm terminal overload for powerful gear. I assume you're at/above softcap already.

You don't need to wear gear for it to count towards drops.

yea I'm above softcap but a +0 drop AT my power level would get me another level higher

yea, you need powerfuls
