can you get red borders while buying from the gunsmith?

for someone else as a test, I bought about 15-20 of the glaive from last season and about 7 of drang, no red borders. I assume it has to be random rolled drops to be a red border.

now I do already have both patterns, but I don't think it's a way to farm them.
