Hello! I was curious how do you tell the Vanguard Subclass Element? I'm looking at Vanguard but I'm unable to tell... Any help would be appreciated!

u would see small icons on the lower left right above VANGUARD OPS or STRIKE screen where u select the difficulty

You have to click onto the Playlist and then it should be on the modifiers right above the Playlist name

One of the options says 25% outgoing damage strand damage. So does that mean if I use strand I'll gain weekly progress? Or am I misunderstanding, sorry..

that's correct, the surge or outgoing damage modifier will grant you progress
same for the nightfall, except there's two, void and strand
