Both can reach 94 range without slideshot, but ID can have Enhanced Threat detector. Or am I missing something?

if the stats are same then i would say it comes down to feel of the weapon. Like the scope of astral is much better than regular imperial but the ornament scope for ID is not bad

and imperial can also get enhanced perks as it is craftable

whereas astral can get adept mods
