I've been hearing this alot, but when I put on an adept range on a non-adept gun it still gave the range bonus. Also adept mods can only be used once yes?

They are intended to only be usable on adept weapons, but they can be slotted once into a non-adept weapon (because of a bug).

Visual bug when you initially unlock the adept mods

You can slot them into any weapon after initial acquisition, and it’s only a visual change

No gunplay change
