Keep in mind you could get an apt roll for a not-so-"meta" weapon - a roll that is suitable for your style and synergizes with other gear/skills - and that will serve you well

In fact I believe that is the primary appeal of crafting weapons

Uh honestly I can't really answer that with expertise. I believe most people use a combination of popularity and expertise from "leading theorycrafters"

You can find such opinions on Light.gg itself (implied with the symbols and colour schemes they use for the perks as well as user reviews)

DIM also has its own built in recommendations, but you can also import your own wishlists from whomever

Plus "content creators" (awkward terminology) have their own recommendations as well

And then there's Reddit - r/sharditorkeepit can provide some in-depth perspective

That depends on your playstyle, there are many great perk combinations that work in different scenarios, would just check out the infos the others provided and try whats best for you

1. Using online information (Light.gg, videos, etc.)
2. What you like. Your god roll on day a say Xenoclast may be different from mine. It depends on what you need the weapon to do

For instance I like Auto Loading on my shotguns if possible, meanwhile my friend prefers Slide Shot. Again it's just what you want/what you want to accomplish.
