been learning about what weapon perks are good but how do you know if the barrel or mag is also worth keeping?

For LFRs and snipers specifically you want to make sure your ammo regen perk procs as many times as possible while not going overkill
For example:
Cataclysmic has a base magazine size of 5 shots. On it, you want to run fourth times the charm.
If you bump up your mag size to 6 with enhanced battery, you get 2 FTTC procs instead of just one, doubling the ammo regen you get

For most primaries I try to minimize recoil unless I’m using it for PvP in which case I try to max out range

For pve it doesn’t matter much except on I guess pulses/auto rifles, but those already suck

range doesn't mean much if you can't control the recoil. At end of it the best perks aren't what someone else says but what feels good to you and works for you
