It’s a top tier exotic

#

It also happens to be a linear fusion rifle, which helps a lot

#

But if you compare it to current top dps options which is where heavy linears are usually put, it’s not really in the same realm

they're completely different

#

it has more usage than sleeper so in a sense it's "better"

but sleeper has much higher dps and is solar in the heavy slot

it's not worth a comparison

Sleeper has worse DPS afaik compared to groll legendary LFRs

700 ms charge time for 3 shots that MIGHT accidentally come back at you and kill you

Or 540 ms charge on a single shot LFR that can’t kill you with ricochet and can roll damage perks

if you are doing end game content its almost required you have least 1 in the fireteam

#

it will 1 shot any shield and 1 shot a barrier champs shield down

Arby is preferable

#

Double LFR in a loadout is pretty good

#

Can leave your primary ammo to be an add clear option like an Incandescent or Voltshot gun

Hell, maybe even Subsis

the top attainable linears for dps in each element are taipan, cataclysmic, stormchaser, and fire and forget

Reed's is gone now, so Fire and Forget is the next best option for a stasis linear

Can't roll with the same god perks the others can roll/be crafted with, but Fire and Forget is still okay as is

I'm super late to this party, but the tl;dr: is that Arbalest is almost mandatory for endgame content that might include Match Game or have Unstoppable, Overload, and Barrier Champions

but that's because it lets you handle those easily without taking up a mod slot on any build, and is not really anything to do with it being a linear fusion rifle

#

the other "top linear fusion rifles" are DPS weapons, and their value is derived from the fact that they can output big numbers, and nothing else.

but more specifically, in endgame content that include all 3, Arbalest is key because it can reliably one-tap Barrier Champions, from any range, on any character, without needing a mod

like the first reply said, it's a top exotic. its value has nothing to do with it being a LFR; the fact that it is one is just a bonus. the top LFRs are top tier because they have high DPS.
