  1. Ensure SMS app is up to date: Check if the default SMS app on your Pixel 6 is up to date. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > See all apps and search for the SMS app. Tap on it and then tap Updates to check if there are any available updates. Install any pending updates.

  2. Restart the SMS app: A simple restart can sometimes clear temporary glitches that might be affecting the app's functionality. Force-stop the SMS app by holding down on the app icon until the menu pops up, then tap App info and tap Force stop.

  3. Clear cache and data for the SMS app: Sometimes, cached data can cause issues with the app's performance. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > See all apps, tap on the SMS app, and then tap Storage. Tap Clear cache and then tap Clear data.

  4. Check network connectivity: Ensure your Pixel 6 has a strong internet connection. Check the signal strength indicator in the status bar. You can also try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see if that resolves the issue.

  5. Check carrier settings: Sometimes, carrier settings might need to be updated to ensure compatibility with the latest network protocols. Contact Hutch customer support to check if there are any updated carrier settings available for your Pixel 6.

  6. Reinstall the SMS app: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the default SMS app. This will refresh the app's data and potentially fix any underlying glitches.

  7. Factory reset (last resort): If the issue persists even after trying all the above steps, a factory reset might be the last resort to eliminate any software-related glitches. However, keep in mind that a factory reset will erase all your data, so back up your phone before proceeding. Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).
