Apart from implants required for multiclass, which cyberware do you feel is essential? In the late game when we have money and time to burn, we may add cyberware just for fun. But, when money and time still matter, which ones are essential?
For me, neural toner 2 is required for hacker; recoil tri-ank for soldiers; and hand razors instead of hand blades for the war machine.
I don't find a few percent of something, here or there, to be worth the money and recovery time till late game.

Synth muscle is very high up there for me as it's such a short install and extra reaction is great, the strength is just a bonus.
Neural toner just feels like one of the best early options for matrix

Display Link #1. I often play on reduced money so it’s hard for me to squeeze much else in. But I’d say ADVX + M-Jak for melee mercs is #2. Neural Toner 2 is also up there.
I'll chime in with my answer, "none". the only time I can recall adding implants was once upgrading a chameleon skin, and one self-challenge of an all vanguard team. but I will be re-evaluating this, as I finally get around to a proper restart with full release. I'll be reading your answers for possible strategies 🙂
A couple of votes for ADVX to mitigate move penalty. Is that for heavy armor? Do you mind the init penalty or do you have another strat for that?
I'll clarify to say I don't consider any of them essential, though I do prioritize Display Link and Neural Toner.
The Filter is to mitigate the downsides of bonus damage arms and more bonus damage from heavy skeletons. The desynced numbers usually let me wear heavier armor, which is nice, too.
