#Suggestions for Dark(er) Dynamic Mics?

I think for $400 and for that specific tonal profile, you can’t do much better than the SM7b. The SD-1 and Blue Sona offer a similar darker profile and even a similar body for cheaper if you really don’t want an SM7b for whatever reason.
Se Dynacaster?
By default that’s a pretty bright dynamic mic but with the various EQ switches you could probably make it darker to your liking
The switches on the back is what made me think it could be a workable solution
GG @drifting snow, you just advanced to level 1 !
Yeah, good call actually. I didn’t think of that one
I think of it as a "safe" mic to suggest because of that.
Why not try a ribbon?
Not a whole lot of great ribbons sub $400 imo. Closest one would probably be one of the sE Voodoo ribbons but then keep in mind that they’re figure of 8 instead of cardioid so phasing or picking up unwanted noise from the rear side could become an issue.
