Outside of the common criticisms (dialogue, direction, pacing, HERA'S MAKEUP), I think the thing that has resonated most with me in the podcast and recap universe is that they shouldn't (can't) wait to bring Thrawn back into the plot. He should've popped up in episode 2, and if it's not by episode 3 then it's already too late.

Reason being: Finding My Friends With A Star Map ™️ is a relatively boring way to construct a story and if we're to take this show seriously, let's see Thrawn cook. Let's see our heroes play chess with a Gus Fring baddie that they have to outmaneuver as they try to stop what is probaly a stepping stone towards the emergence of The First Order.

If this really boils down to Rebels 2: The Live Musical, that is such waste of time and effort and money for everyone other than the die hards and that sucks. I'm sory, but that just sucks.

I’d say it’s not a waste of money ever if people watch this. You have to step back and remember there are a large number of Star Wars fans that probably never watched Rebels (or even Clone Wars for that matter). Many of them will watch Ahsoka.

I’ll admit to being one of them. I have a general understanding of what happens in each series. But few details as I haven’t finished Clone Wars yet nor started Rebels.

I reasonably expected repeated story pieces and maybe contradictions. Because this is the new focus and I’m fine with it.

I can't speak for the period between VIII and IX, but it makes sense to me that Ahsoka didn't jet into the middle of the Resistance base in the first two movies considering they happened over a relatively short period of time.

I disagree, because where it all falls apart for me is that they introduced Luke to Ahsoka and Grogu. Those three know each other exist.

There is no good narrative reason why they wouldn't help one another out, especially when you have another regime blowing up planets.

TFA works in a post OT world because apparently people don't believe in Jedi anymore.

But now we're threading a narrative where there are multiple lightsaber-wielding memes running around. It directly cannibalizes the movies. Which I guess is "okay" if D+ wants to erase that from our memory.

I know I'm in the minority for Obi-Wan specifically, but from my perspective as an audience member it was just an inoffensive adventure about a guy that was kind of cool. It wasn't as well made as Mandalorian in basically any metric but for 40 minutes a week I didn't feel like I was wasting my time.

But I'm also not very attached to Obi-Wan as a character, in either trilogy.

I feel like if Secret Invasion followed the same arc Obi-Wan Kenobi it would be a monumentally better show, in part because Fury just peacing out at the end would be easier to digest if it was, say, in the 2000s and we know we'd be seeing him again in Iron Man.

The biggest offense IMO. You can't put two of the most significant characters of the franchise in the same situation, but with the same outcome. It renders the hours pointless. It didn't add anything -- it just kind of ... existed.

Captain Marvel is a strong enough character that you can sort of get away with not using her in universe for 30 years. Waiting 35 to tell the Skrull story, you can't.

Like there's so much stuff they could do about like, Nar Shadda, spice running. The entire like hacker / slicing underworld element to SW. They had Mando with bounty hunter niche but kinda ruined that.

TBH I don't think there's a lot of intentional strategy. They pivoted to the shows because Mando was a hit - it's that simple. Movies did bad. Mando did good. So they are now basically driving that down into the ground.

As the shows continue to do badly, they will pivot back to movies more lmao.

We've only just recently heard that the D+ shows are building to some sort of big screen finale, so we don't really know where they're going with that. It apparently isn't Gideon, because he was wrapped up in Mando. It apparently isn't a battle for Mandalore either. And it doesn't seem like they can sustain Thrawn for x years until the movie gets made.

So trying to speculate who the lead would even be of a Mandoverse movie is kind of a crapshoot at this point

For all we know Dave puts Ahsoka in Carbonite at the end of this show and Sabine becomes the new main character
