Midas skull untouchable, indoctrination stone not working, followers not coming through

I completed Midas’s quest up to Ewefall and sent his skull back to camp. However, when it came through, it came with an egg for some reason. I put the egg in a nest and the Midas skull is untouchable.

More worrying though is that now I cannot get followers brought in. I went and tried to buy one and nothing, I got the “Follower awaiting indoctrination” thing but he’s nowhere to be found. I also can’t interact with the stone to reindoctrinate if I wanted.

Additionally, I hatched an egg after this event started and the infant disappeared upon hatching. Nowhere to be found.

Please help with this one, this is game breaking if I can’t get followers through. Plus this stupid skull is just sitting there.

Update: Midas hatched from the egg. Skull still sitting by indoctrination stone, untouchable. Indoctrination stone still not working.

And even though he's not here, his name is above the indoctrination stone

Game seems to think there’s two of Midas, this was at the healing station. I healed (one of) him and both of these disappeared but his name is still above his body as well as above the indoctrination stone, like the game thinks he’s there blocking it but there’s nothing I can do to get him out of the way
