I've noticed that besides the few scripted follower rooms. Which offer small amounts of backstory. Examples being, saving a critter after its village was wiped out, rescuing them from being sacrificed, or even taking them in after they themselves slaughtered their own village. (There is also the chance of finding a dissenting follower and needing to choose the correct dialog choice to get them to want to come with you.)

I think these small scenes are fantastic and help build the world of Cult Of The Lamb. Fleshing out a few of the followers' backstories before they reach your Cult is really nice. I would just like more of it. I think each location should have a handful of different small scenes. And have some of them correspond to the location you're finding the followers in.
Here are a few examples I came up with.

In Darkwood:

Come across a critter who went hunting (or gathering for Carmilla’s) but ventured too deep into darkwood and was injured. If you rescue them they need time to heal from their injuries either in the medical bay or rest.

Come across a critter who is distraught, their village was small but they worked hard to provide offerings for Leshy, just to have his followers ransacked and destroyed everything. They ask the lamb if they can come with them.

In Anura:

Come across a critter who is starving, they will explain that their village's faith was tested by Heket when a famine struck and they are the only one left and beg the lamb to take them with them. Another alternative version of this could be a follower who cannibalized the last people in their village and they might have a few random dialog choices they can pick from, like asking the lamb if they can be saved and you either have the option to assure them or scold them for their actions. Or even attacking the lamb where you have to defeat them to indoctrinate them.

Finding a critter who got lost in Anura and decided to snack on too many mushrooms. They might slur their words or say something mostly nonsense and you can indoctrination them but they will be sick and need to rest when they get to your cult.

Come across a critter who's village was ransacked and destroyed. They've heard of the lamb and or want to go with the lamb but only if the lamb presents them with 10 of a crop or meat that they choose. Just to assure them that they won't go hungry in their new home.

Anchordeep:

Find a critter sick, they whisper something about not being strong enough, or failing Kalamar. You can choose to give 10 Carmmilla's and they will say something like thank you, and then you can indoctrinate them. Maybe with a chance of the critter to reject you, refusing the Carmillas. Or a chance of them taking the Carmilla's and then fighting you. With you needing to defeat them to indoctrinate them.

Find a critter who's crying, you talk to them and they explain that they are the only one left, their family got sick and died and now they are all alone in the world. Maybe have the option to console the follower and then indoctrinate them.
