perhaps there's a new room where you can choose two weapons to combine.. when you do combine weapons you can switch in-between the two different weapons attacks whenever you want during a crusade.. like you can be using a axe one moment them switch to the blunderbuss to get some range on your foe
Basically it's like having a secondary weapon you can switch to.. curses could also apply to this as well. Perhaps it fevor to switch in-between weapons/curses
