First one of my medieval kings! 8 more to go!
This one's Mac Bethad mac Findlaich, king of Scotland which inspired Shakespeare to write Macbeth.
He's portrayed as a kaprosuchus because of his brutality, as we all know, crocs have very powerful bite forces. The crown next to him symbolises of course king Duncan who he killed during one of the battles.
The burnt cape right behind the crown is related to him supposedly burning his father's killer and Gruoch's (Lady Macbeth's) first husband - Gille Coemgáin.
The ring on his finger obviously represents his devotion to his wife which is shown in Shakespeare's tragedy.

William the Conquror and his son, William II
3/9 medieval kings done
William the Conquror was the first norman king of England. He got the crown by invading England (hence the name) and getting rid of his rivals.
It is said that his soldiers were powerful enough to cut off heads of the englishmen's horses. Whenever if it's truth or not, he was definitely a powerful soldier and a very inteligent general. That's why i wanted to portray him with a sword, ripped scarf, messy feathering and scars. The grey color is supposed to represent armor.
His son, William II, was best known for his death and his.. red hair. The king was killed during a hunt, he was shot in the heart (the heart pattern on his eye is supposed to represent that). People back then believed it was god's revenge on him for his and his father's actions. He is shown wearing an outfit worn mainly during, you guessed it, hunting sessions. The dagger in his mouth is there in correlation with hunting as well, people used those to finish off their prey quite often. His feathers are ginger because of his hair, duh. His hola consists of swords pointing at him, as if he was a target (many people debate whether or not his death was intentional or not).
The lighting is a bit dramatic, i wanted to give this drawing some sunrise vibes.:)
