the best way is to breed firesaur+firesaur
then that will give you a breeding item, when you sell the firesaur you get from the breed you'll get a hatching item too

Hatching is linked with breeding, same for mazes. You have to transfer a breed before you can get the hatch item or coins, so for progressive firesaur+firesaur, for mazes transferring your thunder eagle. After that you can hatch anything.

the best thing to do is to spend 16 hours(18 gold, 12 food, 3 breed/hatch) on the first node, 1 day 8 hours(30 gold, 20 food, 5 breed/hatch) on the second node and 1 day 16 hours(36 gold, 24 food, 6 breed/hatch) on the third node

Mediocre stats in general, but pretty fast. And he's got freeze where most darks have possess. When you've got something with a dark restriction, that's a nice deny, since the opponent is likely to have some possession immunity

Denier: r1 krampus. Faster than volthar so he will do for now.

Cain is fire attk and will go for nitro blaster as progressive.
So that leaves helgudin and draghar. Since eisul has taunt, this will go well with aoe dodge with helgudin.

Race, then progressive(which usually features previous maze monsters) then 2 mazes then race again and it cycles every month
These are like the main ones
At the same time, other events pop up, like quest monsters (which are breeding events) , usually during the time of main progressives I assume, and other breeding events are featured every now and then.
We also have master of paths (which is a maze event featuring 4 monsters each monster is featured for 2 days) which I believe happens every other month when there is a limited book
Also, new to the cycle is another maze called raiders of the lost maze which is another maze event featuring 4 older race monsters and I believe it also appears during progressives, I also believe this is a monthly event.
There is also the "tale" (like Rocioku) which is another progressive most likely appearing during the time of the mazes

However, this scroll is only effective for the first 24 hours of the progressive

On average, any monster R0 I've grabbed from the progressive island is around 72 gems. Cookie and Krampus were without boosts and picked each up for about 52 I think. But i never let the pools cap out, either.

I'm pushing for 150 stones and on the fifth node, now, @twilit sun. Thus far I think I'm in the neighborhood of 20 gems used. I'm guessing to get this fifth one complete, it's going to cost around 55 gems, maybe? So probably around 75-80. Hope this helps.

I'm that far @gusty axle because I constantly dump the pool. And once 6, 4, and 1 are no longer compatible with one another, I gem.
By the way, I will be adding Tigen to my collection after this event- please don't offer opinion if trash or not. Can her cells be requested or will I have to wait for another event to rank her?
And, no, breeding and hatching ARE NOT in same pool. Both are random drops. Best way to drop them are Firesaur and Legendary (fire), about 15sec breed and hatch.

You can only collect 6 gold 4 food and 1 hatch or breed every 8 hours
Essentially hit those numbers every 8 hours, mind you gold and food slowly fill up
The pool just wont be completely full again for a total of 8 hours
If going unranked you don't need to spend gems, but if you are going for more cells then most use gems once the 6 4 1 rule is to uneven. Example being your gold food and fights are done but your 1 hatch/breed away. They use gems and move on
Hope that helps, I'm not a pro at it. Many others may have more helpful tips

Search for posts from Dorijanko. For example, Dori’s post about Silverleaf shows that you should spend 89 gems for unranked.
To put it another way, if you don’t spend any / enough gems, you will NOT get the progressive monster

In case it helps, just want to provide some data points from past progressives.
These progressives have generally had the following format:
1st node: Chest 1
2nd node: Chest 2
3rd node: 15 cells
4th node: 20 cells
5th node: 65 cells
Recently SP has added a boost scroll between 2-3rd nodes or 3-4th nodes. Someone else can explain the boosts.
Here are my gem usage per node for a couple of progressives to give an idea.
Draghar: 32, 14, 9, 11, 18 gems
Silverleaf: 12, 33, 23, 16, 10 gems
Hopefully what you’re getting from this is that 1. You need to spend gems, 2. The optimal gem strategy per node can change from one progressive to the next.

So every 8 hours I collect 6 gold, 4 food and breed or hatch 1 monster (I'm assuming thunder eagle is optimal like mazes? Or is there a better one?) and when I get to the aforementioned amount of gems left I skip to the next node?

Nodes seem to vary from progressive to progressive, but I managed to get 150 stones from this most recent using approximately 72 gems. I will keep better track in the upcoming Eisul progressive. 52-75 is where it fell during the last 3 events for R0, but Cookie and Krampus were offered at R1.

@muted scroll Yeah, it allows you to do a full collection every 4 hours instead of the usual 8 hours. However it runs out after 24 hours so you won't be able to use it when it runs out.

I know I'm late but I can't make the guide right now(I don't know exactly how the nodes look like yet) and a better reference than the draghar guide would probably be the silverleaf one because there boost scroll was after 15 cells
here's r0 silverleaf:
On chest 1, use 12 gems at 0 days and 4 hours.
On chest 2, use 33 gems at 0 days and 4 hours.
On 15 cells, use 23 gems at 0 days and 4 hours.
On scroll, use 0 gems after 0 collections, not including the first one.
On 20 cells, use 11 gems at 0 days and 12 hours.
On 65 cells(r0), use 10 gems after 8 collections, not including the first one.
Total gem cost: 89 gems.
Total time: 3 days and 16 hours.
