Difficulty Settings when starting the game to make things more interesting.

Easy - things cost less, enemies are easier.
Normal - as they are now
Hard - things cost more, much more years are taken when dying. Many more years for items that cost years.

Extreme: enemies are even harder, even more years are taken for items and deaths. The game only saves at 6am. Tax on property. Enemies such as daddy long legs prow the woods at night.

That last one isnt going to happen but I have already begun writing up difficulty proposals. I dont think autosave should be part of it either.

The feeling of slowly building up from humble beginnings is amazing in this game, any kind of difficulty that can extend that feeling would be great.

The "Extreme option" does feel like it would change a fundamental part of the game, so its understandable the changes listed there wouldn't be on the board.

The following could be less game changing options for difficulty that are variables that can maybe be tweaked?:

-Enemy life / damage.
-Death penalty in years.
-Year cost of items.
-Friendship points gained via gifts and quests.
-Profit margins in shops.
-Cost of items.
-Number of items required for master skills.

I think increasing these could really go a long way via difficulty options to extending certain parts of the game and increasing the accomplishment of progressing into making more money via shops later on.

I would absolutely love a hard difficulty, but I agree the save system shouldn't be part of it. I've had so many issues with lost saves (in other games, not here fortunately) that even the save system as it currently exists makes me nervous.

One thing I didn't see mentioned that might help difficulty: make the gifts from npcs and challenges less valuable/plentiful or find some way to scale them better. All it takes right now is the right combination of 5-star items or a fae ore or two to start snowballing the challenges before they're probably intended to be completed.

How much experience it takes to go up in ranks for fame as well as shop levels could also be included.

The "Extreme" option had some very game changing stuff such as auto saving and getting attacked outside and as Lionbum said its not going to be added, but a higher difficulty would be awesome 🙂
