Whos new
I mean I am, but anyone else?
I'm not very consistent with it though.
ahh
Foxtrap, go up, there is a important theory about just how much voudou religion affects lore.
There has been a couple new people
ANGERY FOXY TYPING
Either way itâs always great to have folks hungry for the lore here. Thereâs so much to dig through and you can tell thereâs a lot of thought out into the mystery weâre slowly unraveling. Also yeah Iâll go check it out.
LMAOOOO
yeah i'm surprised at how much this chat has grown
TYPES FURIOUSLY
(honestly a bit too fast for me casue i've had even less time to be here)
I posted the beginner's guide on reddit and people never knew how much lore there was in the game. They all loved it and wanted more
but great nontheless
@vapid galleon if you want i've done some voice overs for lore before and I'd be down to do more
if you think people will like it
The people who are new to discord barely go "bRo FiX sErVeRs"
Itâs crazy to watch a whole new generation of lore folks crop up and I love it. Vitam Impendere Vero, Hunters.
I meant here.
yeah
Deus ye vault et
@late tinsel
Is the infection like a living grunt? Like, I believe the sculptor ressurected souls, because if they have been dead for less than a week they are tethered(?) To their body giving time to resurrect, also making the souls more violent.
@forest condor people would love it. I know the challenging thing tha tI have heard from people is that they didn't know how deep HUnter lore goes beyond "zombies and bosses"
Vitam Impendere Vero- I read this as vitamin impending Weirdo
The more content that gets pushed out about the lore the more people will be able to dive into it
BTW
I must advise you against taking up arms. Let the others do that work. Your place is among those who plan, who organize. Sheriff Hardin is of our cause, maintaining his friendship is of paramount importance. He's well connected, and a good friend of the governor, whose support we also require
So the governement is definitely involved
Charge your phone chief tsk tsk
haha but in all seriousness. This fits with how the twins journeyed into the realm of the dead, just like how they went directly to the Lord of Death, and didnt get distracted by the other statues. When they put the rock into his hand and it heated up in their mouths
So, the evidence about voudou, and the gates of guinee are heavily supported.
I would say yes, the Twins are our biggest evidence of that
At least in regards to voudou influence
Being conmected to lore at leadt, also, if this is true, my papa legba is here.
Papa legba- the intermedian between the living amd the dead.
Yeah, one of the concerns they had with traveling to the "Butcher's House" is that they wouldn't be able to make it back
I will get to working on it at some point, but I want to take all the information we have up until now and find out if I can summarize the characters. Since the lore doc will need some revising now that we found out so much new info
@wintry panther So, my legba may likely be here also the 6th or sevemth gate is death.
@acoustic owl Wait so all of the references to the circles of hell before..... do you think those might not be dante but voudou instead?
Like the steam cards and stuff
Maybe, seven circles, not circles but gates, and descent might nit be a genuine descent.
We will have to look over old stuff or the book of monsters and journals again in this new light and see if it changes anything
@sinful trout I know we were confused before about the last journal of William Salter. But I am reading through again and since he seems to go through periods of insanity and periods or being normal. Maybe that is a sign to show that he returned to sanity sometime later?
Sorry Fox you were saying?
Just throwing out a reminder to look at the religions as less of a truth, but more of an insight. Thereâs elements of truth in them, but the game certainly isnât trying to say voudou is the only thing thatâs real in Huntverse, just a vessel for explaining key components of the âmagicâ required to look beyond the veil of the mundane. Itâs possible this other dimension may have inspired Huntverseâs version of Haitian Vodou.
If that were true then it wouldnt make sense as to why lynch can perform vodun rituals
Will return in 7 hours
Why?
@acoustic owl nice! Ill read through them and see where we can make links
Btw remember how we were talking about the random ammo lying around... we have got our answer on that and where all of theguns are coming from
Its from Victor Caldwell largely since he ran shipment's from his father's business before leaving to join the hunters
He had stocks of romeros and the chain pistol and such sent over
WEll before shooting up the Hunters which im still reading about
Bro plumaj
@acoustic owl "The Seven Gates of Guinee are scattered throughout the city of New Orleans. Their exact locations are deeply held secrets. But according to many sources, the first gate lies behind Laveauâs tomb. The second gate lies within Perseverance Hall."
@wintry panther
He commands or leads dead spirits.
Ghede nibo- Second gate.
Nvm
I love how all of these articles just ignore Guédé Plumaj
Baron lacroix first gate
Baro. Lacroix is the GOD of the dead, so reaper maybe?
Also too true.
@wintry panther
maybe... or maybe its more Hades like where there are guides to the underworld but he rules it
Maybe, one sec.
Bruh.... dont say you practice voudou and type up all about these otehr layers and dont talk about Guédé Plumaj
All these articles are bullshit
But he also tells them its pretty cool, and his name is baron of the cross, i believe he is like the reaper of the afterlife, him or samedi.
http://lkhtgc.proboards.com/thread/28/loa - this guy gives a rough summary of all the loa
Nanchons of Loa There are many families or "nanchons" (nations) of Loa - Rada (also Radha), Petro (also Pethro, Petwo), Nago, Kongo and Ghede (also Guede, or Gede) to name but a fe
Ah, read it its alphabetical, no plamej tho.
I know T_T
Plamej is non existent
Btw appreciation for the attention to detail Crytek has with lore. From how female hunters were introduced to hints at upcoming stuff like a potential flamethrower and dual wielding through the journals
Just read up on bad as they seem
Nah, I mean we got to analyze which gates they went through
@wintry panther
Why ping me?
They either did it correct or fucked the entire world with another bad spirit.
@wintry panther Dude, can you make a pdf with bad as they seem in order?
It will really help, just copy paste.
Good night my sweet prince
Bruh you must be east coast
its only 9pm here
so thatll be 3 for me
Gn
Wait guys!
I need help looking for something
We are missing the Pages 3/4 and 4/4 of Charlie Salter
And I don't know what weapon it is from
#lore-discussion we are on the lookout for The Journals of Charlie Salter 3/4 and 4/4 please let me know when you find them
All about voudou divinations btw: http://vodoureligion.com/2011/04/divination-readings-in-haitian-vodou/

@wintry panther Find anything important?
@wintry panther you're new coke
@sinful trout Is the weapons book complete?
@bold tiger yee
In the pinned doc
@late tinsel have you stumbled across a record player / piano room I was asking about yet?
Iâm still looking
MY NAME HATH BEEN INVO- oh, not yet
What room are you talking about?
Darn you mind keeping an eye out for one?
A room with both record in piano in it?
What is interesting about the room?
I have a hunch about something
You want the achievement or hear both songs at the same time
What is the hunch
It is a achievement to turn both on in a match
Not at the same time
Huh
Iâm thinking that one of the songs from the soundtrack is talking about a room with both in it and I believe we might find another set of in game notes from it
But I m not certain
I know for a fact I've been in such a room
You remember where at?
Same as the soldiers mail in the fort
Is there an area on the map where there are notes written down?
Soldiers mail?
Is it something more than the posters seen around lawson
I believe the barracks
âThere are letters belonging to soldiers stationed in Lawson Delta that can be found in living quarters of military buildings (Fort Carmick and Maw Battery).â-hunt gamepedia
Hmm
Remember the map?
Thanks that actually helps a lot
I think it was arden since it was the area with a lot of row houses
That cut half the places I needed to search!
Iâll check next time Iâm on
@bold tiger these were pulled from the game wiki so idk how up to date they are youâll need to use a spy glass to read them
I found it @feral pecan
it was actually in Stillwater Bend in the bayou
so really, I had it all wrong
Awesome ima spend some time combing it if I donât find anything Iâll keep looking for another place and if not then itâs back to the drawing board!
Thanks the for the help bro
Let us know if you find anything enlightening!
@feral pecan What does the gold inlay on the pianos say?
@bold tiger
So idk if im onto anything but Ive been rereading through the book of weapons (im gonna try and summarize it like I did with the beginners guide for book of monsters). And there are some interesting journals in here
nagant silencer seems to imply you gotta kill somebody to be a hunter
my family's company has found itself with an excess of the Rival 78 that cannot be sold. It is an exceedingly capable shotgun, with great versatility and range.
straight up lying to sell guns đ
Lop
interesting that John Victor knows yuri too...
seems like missing pages (for later variants/new weapons?) are Charlie salter 3 and 4 as well as leander 4
Holly Shit Lynch killed Huff. But wait? The Real Huff didn't die until 1945.
I guess the writings should be taken with some skepticism. The writings of Hayden Collins are a fictionalized account of what's going on and may not necessarily be reliable.
Dime novels of the era had a nasty habit of playing fast and loose with the truth.
Okay it seems that Lynch did not Kill Huff.
Perhaps Collins is a member of the Association and writes fiction featuring characters based on his coworkers like McGee from NCIS.
@earnest jungle what makes you think Lynch didn't kill Huff, because we know that Huff is dead and that there is a power vacuum now
The person who took over was killed by the twins
and so no one knows who will be the leader
Because A) Dime Novels are notorious for their inaccuracies.
And B) he describes the girl mentioned who thinks there are snakes and angels in side her in another text
Pretty hard to do that if youâre dead
Also the real Philip Jones Huff died in 1946
Also the devs tend to stress that we should take every bit of lore with a grain of salt
Also he identifies the Lord of the Dead as being associated with snakes but Barron Samandi is not associated with snakes.
It makes sense he would be pissed at the Sculptor and Lynch though. Barron Samandi is specifically in charge of making sure the dead stay dead and donât rise up as zombies.
Also while he, presumably, uses Lynchâs real name (assuming A Lynch is Alison Lynch) he does not use Huffâs real name. Potentially indicating that this might not be wholly accurate representation of the real man.
@earnest jungle This is from the Nagant entry though. Now I have a couple of theories as to what is actually going on.
I'm sorry I haven't written you in some weeks. It's all gone to hell. The superintendent's dead. Seen in the paper too. Not like us to make such an announcement. Someone took their place, though I didn't meet them before they was dead too. Hardin is keeping his head down. Can't say I blame him. Out in the grounds, word's coming back that it's more ruthless than ever. Huff's men killing our men, our men killing Doctor John's, Doctor John's killing the Reverend's. And so on. No one knows who's riding with who no more, and we're all the worse for it
So I have a couple theories: a) Huff is actually dead.... and that left a power vacuum which is where we come in. b) Lynch faked the death of Huff but I don't think that fits her character c) he made a deal with a loa or something and came back to life
And don't go off of when the real Huff died because Marie Laveau is supposed to die 10 something years prior to this game and yet she is alive. So they take influence from real life but I think they depart here on that
Fair enough
Now one of the things that I am interested by is the fact that huff is never mentioned by the name Huffington other than in Bad as They Seem....
IF Lynch really did kill Huff (who is Huffington) then maybe he made a "deal with the devil" or is actually dead. Because as far as we know, Lynch has come back to life because her soul is tethered to the other side of the rift
and the Twins have come back from thedead too when Lynch anchored their soul to their bodies
Thats the interesting thing though
Huff might not be Huffington
Perhaps Huffington is a composite or the Huff and his father John Welch Jones. Who ran the asylum from 1874-1888?
They might be referring to the person who supposedly took his place or something. The letters from Dr. Huff do talk about how he is losing the balance of power.
Wait do you have a link to the articles about the real Huff
Wikipedia. Heâs casually mentioned in his fatherâs page
I need to read up more on that. Because there are a couple key characters who are based on real people. (Marie Laveau & the Bone Doctor are the ones I know of)
@sinful trout @acoustic owl Did you know about this?
Well this is the first time this has been mentioned here..... so I think you may be onto something
Definitely fits with the games description
@late tinsel Im summoning you
His son Philip Huff Jones was the Assistant Superintendent
Welch was known as a reformer though I doubt the real Welch would have approved of endangering the lives of his patients by sending them out to kill monsters.
Under his guidance the East Louisiana State Mental Hospital was one of the Few that did not engage in Eugenics.
Also seeing as Huffâs men are described attacking other hunters that could imply Huff is still alive.
The Superintendent who died is not mentioned by name
So from what I know, Huff's wife in Hunt lore is Augusta. Different slightly from Annabel in real life
And it could be men who stayed loyal to Huff or his actual men idk
WHAT I THINK: Is that Elwood Finch might have taken over. Elwood was put in charge of training potential hunters that Huff brought in. And although they were all killed by Victor the Twins themselves are very keen on him at the end of Bad as They Seem. (Maybe Elwood even hired them idk). It makes sense that of all the people Huff kept close, Elwood would become the next successor
The problem is that everything is vague and we don't have concrete facts on what is going on.... what I think we should try and do is create a timeline based on the dates. And try and see where there might be problems. because we should see when John's notes end. When the journals pick up, and what happens when
@earnest jungle thank you for the ideas though, I think you may be onto something and hopefully the wikipedia on these guys and a deeper look into their real life counterparts could shed some light. You are right though, we should take all of these with a pinch of salt. As I dont think is said enough. And you are definitely right about the dime novels.
@earnest jungle Do you have any theories on which loa Lynch actually is?
Interesting thing thatâs never addressed- Huff has an Ogun veve box on his desk. People who invoked Ogun generally believed he made them bullet proof and all that. If the Hunterâs desk lore hasnât been discarded, I wouldnât count out a supernatural ace in the hole for Huff.
too bad he got knifed
Let me rephrase. Ogun literally covers your skin in knives and steel. Or something like that. But who knows? The details are so thin, we can only speculate until we know more, sadly.
Also good morning/afternoon, all.
Mornin'
And i understand huffs ace in the hole
But the manuscript describes him choking on blood and taking his last breath
So i been doing a little reading, but what exact year is the game taking place in? The appearance of some of these prototype weapons make me think later but I am pretty sure it is somewhere in the 1890s.
1895
@sinful trout Oh dang I guess I need to read through it then. I suppose I just think itâs weird to kill off the guy writing all the communiques and updates we see on the official site.
Something else that I find strange: If thereâs so much infighting going on between factions and the head of the AHA was killed- whoâs organizing bounty rewards? Why would other chapters even bother showing up if the heads of the chapter putting out the open Hunt are being killed? Why bother hunting bounties if youâre not with the AHA and side with the splinter factions?
Itâs a dramatic set up, but I canât really say for what. It calls into question the source of bounty rewards and if the AHA will honor rewards promised to foreign hunters.
@late tinsel and thats what im finding from the in-game documentation. But has it been confirmed?
The year @wraith locust ?
Yeah
Yes.
@late tinsel i think the bounty system still takes place.
For example aha was probably using them to further study the other side. Perhaps ot was used for weapons. That we dont know.
But we do know aha is built from several people. And we now know the asylum was used to suppress people who found out about the affliction, and also a way to recruit hunters.
But what else? Perhaps a laboratory elsewhere? Maybe a bounty drop off building somewhere else? Finch ran the cabin for a few months before returning to the asylum. And we now know that cabin is used by hunters as a pit stop but it would be foolish to assume other buildings didnt exist
For example. President of united states is killed.
Does the government shut down? No another leader takes place.
If theres no one to take the place then someones voted in, or government continues as normal.
But i think one things for sure
The worst event to happen to this world so far we know is called the sundering.
By definition to split apart
What has happened to majority of aha right now?
@feral pecan we've all been here a while, so we learned to communicate very effectively. So thr chat moves a lil fast
@earnest jungle dont forget hunt universe is parallel to ours but not the same. Huff exists, but mightve died sooner
But again we have to remember the manuscript is for a work of fiction. It is not a journal or an interview but a manuscript for presumably a dime novel (the only other account of Lynch comes from a Dime Novel). Dime Novels were notorious for their sensationalism.
True, and i also know better than to trust the word of one
Thats why i trust the word of many
For example. The rumours of the superintendent dying then his predecessor, then his predecessor as well. Rumours spreading etc
Plus the Superintendent nor their successor who died is not mentioned by name in lore doc
But then again even if Huff did die as we have learned from Lynch and the Twins those who die donât always stay dead.
Wait, when did we learn that
Lynch was blown up during an experiment and is able to avoid dying by essentially possessing another body.
She did the same thing presumably to the twins after the snake bite
To my knowledge she never possessed another body
In that entry she actually works to keep her body alive
Completely blind, caked in grease, pocked with shrapnel and grease spots, and naked, she lay splayed on the muddy forest floor as on a cross. From afar, she appeared to be dead. From afar, she appeared to be human
Lynch was difficult to kill, a trait that would breed a reputation for a supernatural invincibility, perhaps even, people whispered, immortality. The body could bleed, oh how it could bleed, but she spurned death's requests to join him on his dark horse. "Cultivate fear in your enemies." It would be one of the many glamours that kept her body alive far longer than her right her profession being what it was.
Her fingers moved slightly, then thrust down through a layer of damp moss and into the wet earth. The hand returned clutching a long sliver of glass, mercury still dripping down its side. She tested the edge and drew blood from the tip of her finger, then pressed harder, drawing more. She had been building an explosive device, and it had detonated prematurely, scalding her skin and taking her sight. But she carried far darker knowledge than that of explosives.
She pierced her finger again and began to draw symbols on the raw pink flesh of her abdomen, muttering to herself as she did so. Then she took the glass and cut out her right eye, an offering to one who might return her body's sight and more, letting it fall to the ground beside the grisly machete she carried at her side
It was difficult to keep the self whole. It was much easier to submit to chaos, to slice and destroy the weak flesh It strained at its own boundaries, moving towards its own disintegration, always. Those who thought her immortal were not wrong, not exactly, though the body she wore now would not survive the journey between worlds
(dont get me wrong. I believe lynch is powerful in voodoo, to the point where she no longer needs a body. But i dont think shes a loa, or even a god)
Question @sinful trout where can I find this entry and where does this fall in the timeline ?
haha oh the timeline....... I'll try and create one based on the letters and when they were written
The problem is the undated ones
I mean
Why does everyone think he was a badass?
He was litterally a puppet to lynch
... or was he?
Hey so I'm rather new here and I went and read all the documents I could and I just got the basics of what's happening but I can't connect the rest of the metaphorical dots. Any suggestions on how I can catch up?
All lore is in the docs
I think you can find a beginner guide with a summary by @wintry panther
@wintry panther is also doing a timeline doc
I am working on creating summaries of all the journals in the Book of Weapons too to try and help people find purpose behind each of those.
May be ready to post this evening im not sure yet
By the way..... do you guys think we could find William Salter's hut?
You donât think itâs âsalterâs pork(t)â?
I think itâs on the delta map
Also @wintry panther depending on contextual evidences in the undated relating to the dated notes we should be able to establish a fairly solid timeline but that would require a large amount of prior knowledge on the entirety of the notes
Given enough time I could possibly put something together but Iâll have to really learn the material
It might be.... I know that the Salter Family definitely has wealth and prestige
@feral pecan Ill work on the brief timeline and we can discuss the undated stuff
Does anyone have or know where I can find a compiled version of the lore that is available so far? Outside of the game itself, ideally, as I'd like to be able to read it outside of times when I could be playing it instead.
@high marlin Pinned messages, the google doc, if you want I'll be free to discuss.
@wintry panther So, I found the loa of death, Bwonsamdi, he can control the spirits of the dead, but one parts off- he primarily controls trolls.
But I'm relying far too much on religion.
@high marlin And here is the Book of Weapons. If you want it all in one doc, the Hunt Lore doc pinned is your place to go.
Nothing on plumaj though.
Cursed plumaj.....
Did you see bwonsamdi?
Hmmmm well are trolls certain creatures like in European religions?
I didnt lemme check
Is it pinged to me here?
So in Bayou popular folklore, there exists a swamp troll.
The Bigfoot of the bayou is believed to stand between six to eight feet tall, and has a red reflection emit from it's eyes. In addition to it's shaggy hair and it's ability to stand on it's hind two legs, the creature reeks of a horrible odor.
Yeah Iâve heard of it. It seems similar to the stories of the âFlorida skunk apeâ
Which if thatâs the case then Bigfoot would technically be in the huntverse
Btw I am working on the timeline rn
will post here once i get to a good place
Can anyone figure out the name of the man in the Journal of Daniel Glanton?
@wintry panther @acoustic owl Thank you guys
Coolio!
#lore-discussion Here is what I have worked on so far. I have to head home from work so pardon if there are any errors. At the bottom you will find names of journals. These are ones that have no dates and need more research to find out when they occur. Plus the timeline of the Twins . *Note: Currently this is all from the Book of Weapons, I will go through the Book of Monsters, Louisiana Case Files, and the Hunt website to extract further dates.
One of the things that will help figure out the twins and Williams timeline but I have to dive more into..... Williams escapes from the Asylum a second time on May 13th, and this is when the journal of william salter begins
well put together, nice job! @wintry panther
Thanks!! I just need help dating the undated stuff
that march 20th correspondence could possibly be to caldwell
I think that would make sense. From the timeline, looks like winfield used to be the main supplier to the AHA. Things fell apart and so Huff turned to Caldwell. Things were going well, it was a win win situation. AHA gets new weapons and Caldwell got to test new weapons and sell surplus goods. Things go so south you could call it the Confederacy. All of Finch's newest recruits are dead, and now the Asylum assistants are not as loyal to Huff. Yuri steps in and become the newest weapon guy. Bringing in a new level of weapons, really out there modern weapons like the auto and avtomat.
@rotund ferry read pinned posts
@wintry panther what were you meaning when you said the âgold inlay on the pianoâ I canât find what you are talking about
There should be a gold ingraving above the keys, thought there might be writing on them
idk if its significant or not
Like a gold plaque
Hmm
Btw smh when the devs put a Book of Songs on the roadmap but ive already made it
Iâll look again I didnât see it but I was getting shot at at the timeđđ
Hahaha i cant wait for that offline map roaming
Seriouslyyyyy
Its gonna be such a Quality of life improvement
So it took me until last night after playing about 8 hours straight of quick play (took a day off for my bday) that the song ârise up dead manâ is most likely talking about quick play itself or could just have the same theme
But it never clicked with me That the go signal is literally âRise up, damned soulâ or something along those lines
So do we know of any history about still water bend? Specifically why the heck thereâs a massive cave system under the houses?
Im not sure..... These are the only direct histories of locations that I am aware of (they were published leading up to the reveal of the new map, Lawson Delta, as part of the hype)
Every other place we are unsure of
Hmm
Maybe
Do we know the approximate area that hunt huntâs deadlands take place?
I remember reading something about south of NO
Hmm
North of Baton Rouge
Hold on lemme check names real quick I might have been through there
So, little history lesson. During the Civil war, part of Louisiana was actually still Union. Lincoln called for a huge push to New Orleans because he knew that control of the Mississippi River would be crucial to stopping the supplies of the South from heading inland. Thus, the south-east part of Louisiana remained Union.
East Feliciana
Hmm
Yeah it was kinda the same idea as fort Jefferson in the dry tortugag
So, caucasian asian, I don't think it is a real person, if anything a pseudonym, for thomas grey bennet.
NOW, in game, Huff is at the Asuylum in Jackon (image 1). BUT the biggest hint to where this is is the "History of Fort Carmick" article. Where existence of the Fort Carmick is labeled a "coastal fortification".
Also, Brownibg built the C&K.
"One such location now hosts Fort Carmick, named in honor of Daniel Carmick, an officer in the United States Marines Corps and hero of the Battle of New Orleans. With expansive views over surrounding waterways, and fire support from a parallel battery, Fort Carmick is capable of projecting its power over a wide expense of territory.
The peace of mind enjoyed by those living in the shadow of Fort Carmick was shattered during the Civil War. Following the fall of New Orleans to the Union in April 1862, Confederate forces withdrew up the Mississippi River toward Baton Rouge, leaving many of their coastal fortifications isolated. Later in 1862, the Fort was wrested from the Confederacy during a brief and bloody siege. "
So I think the Asylum is north of New Orleans where at least one map is South
The landscape in game reminds me more of THE Landscape south of NO
Yeah the Fort Carmick map is definitely South of NO
Yeah
Dang that doesnât help my problem
Iâm trying to figure out if it was a mine under Stillwater bend
Then what were they mining for?
Itâs clear the bayou is in one the primarily swamp covered parishes
But Louisianaâs geological layout is weird due to its position in America
While oil is a big thing you donât âmineâ like in a cave. Then maybe sulphur? Or aluminum? I wouldnât be gravel or some kind of sand used for structural reasons as they are surface mined
I believe the answer would lie in which came first- the wellspring or the sculptor while the wellspring is an otherworldly element, the sculptor would scare people aeay from said otherworldly element.
If wellspring came first, people would have time to start mining to search fir newer elements.
@feral pecan Well one thing to note is that Still Water Bend is not a part of the Lawson Delta map which is more coastal
Stillwater Bayou might be more inland
Yeah thatâs what Iâm thinking
The wellspring is also in the bayou, so that could also explain the mines around the map.
But im a dumbass.
Thatâs why I was asking if we new the positions of the maps
I assumed the delta was somewhere south of NO
Yeah @wintry panther that was my problem I was sayingđ
Is this a legendary or T3?
Hmm
Because there are a number of loa with bome face paint, mostly loa of the dead, he resembles papa legba, and baron samedi.
Iâm gonna be rooting around some of the real world topographical maps for a while @wintry panther Iâll let you know if I find anything
Just know with Lawson they made it from scratch so might not be an exact place
So Stillwater might follow that
@acoustic owl that could just signify a hunter who follows the bone doctor I think(?)
I knoe, thats why I asked if ut was legendary, legendaries play a role in lore.
Iâm sure it is but if I can find a place or parish that fits the location a little bit then I might be able to place more emphasis on the mines and crematorium
Got it!
@feral pecan
The History of Blanchett Graves- His intention was to separate the two groups entirely, requesting the church be built outside New Orleans. The selected site was far south of the city boundaries. It was rumored that the administrator responsible belonged to one of the two denominations, choosing the location maliciously to force the other out the city.
Because during this time the population was primarily catholic (who donât like cremation) a few Protestants and then the various pagan cults filled the rest
Sorry for slow follow up on that response
Wait
Far south of NO?
Not super, but its close to Fort Carmick
Yeah
The History of Healing Waters Church- Gird was a committed evangelical, who came to know Port Reeker through his travels to minister at Fort Carmick towards the end of the Civil War.
Must be between Lawson and NO
So then that would mean that we might have a placement
During the Civil War, trade to and fro Port Reeker all but ceased as they purposely isolated themselves from the broader conflict. It was following the war, during Reconstruction, that the town began to thrive. The mouth of the Mississippi had a shallow draught and was often unnavigable for ships. Sometimes, without a better option, cargo came through Port Reeker instead. This brought the port to the attention of Henrik Graf. A businessman, Graf was eager to take any opportunity he could. In 1877, James Buchanan Eads cleared the Mississippi, and Port Reeker was faced with a crisis.
Yeah, Stillwater Bayou is another semi-coastal route that whales can come up on and was an alternative to the mississippi until it got cleared
@feral pecan So the game takes place somewhere in here
Yeah
gonna wager a guess at the Delacroix area
Thatâs what I was actually just gonna post earlier
close enough to be a secondary port to New orleans but also far enough away that the "infection" could be contained away from Norleans
Letâs also remember that the band and that did the soundtrack decided on the name âThe Port Sulphur Bandâ
At this point I wouldnât count that out as an important dealio
Exactly that
yee, it'd be fair to assume it takes place there
there's lots of terrain that would fit
List of prominent civil war forts and second pic was were I was thinking possibly take place
Low key my search history looks really sketchy now after searching for mines, population center, quarantine operations/min and max distances, and topographical map of the flood plains of Louisiana near NO
If you look up pressure cookers you're on a list
Lmao who says he hasnât
So Iâve been going through the timeline more. I have a question: who is Huff writing to in his letters. He says father, is that referring to his actual father or the reverend
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Sulphur,_Louisiana if you wanna dig around for the band name reference, assuming it has anything to do with lore
they did say they looked for nearby cities
so you can restrict your location search
Does anyone here have any idea what the night seers tattoos say or even are?
@rotund ferry Well, he probably had some free space on his skin, had too much money and wanted to impress the kind of girls that think tatoos are hawt? I mean, he had to recruit his followers somewhere? Maybe tinder?
"Lean, muscular and tatood guy looking for attractive women to join his cult of bloodguzzlers.
PS: They dont call me the "Nightseer" because i hunt Demons :^P )
@raven niche I wouldn't be surprised lol. Do they mean anything though? I looked close and they just look like a bunch of scribbles to me đ
Do we have an exact or approximate year that the game is set in
@keen epoch it's set in 1895
Awesome, thanks. I was curious because I was gonna look into other guns designs from that year and before
@keen epoch "The switch to historic weapons was hard yes. We wanted things to feel realistic, and that of course impacted our options somewhat. Resources we have been skimming ourselves often included Forgottenweapons.com (and their YT presence) and took a lot of reference in from all over the web when it comes to makeshift gear, field modifications as well as experimental ammunition types" - from the devs
Epic
Also Murican has been helping me look into who winfield probably was and caldwell (since many characters are based on real people)
Ooo
A Theodore Roosevelt based character would be epic
That would be pretty awesome, although it would be Cleveland
Grover Cleveland served his second term from 1893-1897
True maybe this could a conspiracy like thing about his backing into his future presidency in saving the world?
Oo
@rotund ferry So we know a couple of things about the Night Seer. The scrawlings on his coat and I think his tattoos are in voynich and are also Veves. we haven't gotten a good enough model or screenshot to decode them (although we could if someone pulled it or we can get into the files and find it)
I think I might have a good one give me a second
@wintry panther
@wintry panther with what I found the symbol between his eyes means âgoldâ or something to that extent
This may help too
Dickchess managed to pull this before
Problem is quality of image
@raw gust Do you know where you managed to pull the pic of the Night Seer model?
It was from the first announcement of legendary hunters
twitter or their page?
Idk sorry
@wintry panther Winfield is a stand in for Winchester, Caldwell for Colt, Sparks for Sharps, etc.
I see arabic text, the game's weird Runic language, and some common runes
At least it seems arabic; The text on his right hip of the duster.
Why are these two objects of importance?
One is a canteen (That doesn't appear on any of my team's models)
And another is a black pouch.
I think the black pouch is something meant for carrying the bounty dust or something?
Unless its an explosive pouch
@late tinsel @wintry panther letâs not rule out the fact that âWinnFieldâ is an actual place in the Winn parish of Louisiana
Although it is further north than NO it shouldnât be ruled out
But I was thinking the same thing about them having stand-ins for names
I think it was explained a long time ago when the devs were asked why they didnât use real gun names for the winnie & sparks @feral pecan. I probably couldnât find it now, but Iâm pretty sure they outright changed the names for narrative and licensing issues.
Probably for copyright and such as they all technically are still real businesses
But I just wanted to make sure you realized it was a placeđ
Groovy đ
@rotund ferry Wait where did you find those items and can you interact with them?
And the arabic text is new, since we have only seen latin and voynich (the games runic language) used previously
Is it Arabic? I can see how people will think it is. Has anyone tried to translate them?
I would need to see a better photo for this since it's hard for me to get a good look
We use this to translate all voynich https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/370142302196334593/623320987089502241/unknown.png
Ye. Thereâs an effort underway right now to decipher the voynich text on several skins, though much of what Iâve seen has either been gibberish or literature from a real life Arabic philosopher. Almost all media on the site with any voynich has been cleared.
If you see scattered symbols that are on their own, I wouldnât hold my breath. Lots of voynich clustered together is what you want to look for if youâre trying to get something interesting.
@wintry panther Its part of the glitch that spawns teammates equipment in the air
I can't interact with it but its part of a teammate I think
But what's odd is neither teammate's model (Or me) Had a canteen or that tube thing
Thatâs actually really interesting. Thatâs clearly the team outline around them, so they seem to be part of the character model momentarily. Strange glitch.
Yeah that's what's confusing me!
I'm trying to figure out if player models have separate props that might be leftover and not actually on the body
@late tinsel I have compiled all legendary skins and all translations we have so far. The ones that are harder but we have pulled some from is Swamp Peach and the machete skin Black Wight
Also Pioneers Blood has some voynich on it but i don't know if there is any meaning behind them
If someone wants to grab the skin pics I could always include them below the descriptions btw
@wintry panther HMU.
Im here @acoustic owl
Hit me up, I'll see what I can do before i slep.
Aight well For the legendaries we can pull screenshots of all the side portraits of the weapons I can add those to the legendary doc. And the ones that we have untranslated voynich for is (as far as I am aware): Eschaton, Pioneer's Blood, Jack o' Diamonds, The Pearl & Spite (which I think have the same couple letters), and the Swamp Peach always has more XD
The problem with these is that most are just a couple letters and probably not anything major. Unless it is initials or something
I need stuff to research.
Only ones with sequences of legible voynich are swamp peach and jack o diamonds
Alright
If you want research
Want to help me with the timeline?
Or some info stuff?
Messaged you with both options
those pictures above look similar but I can look for a high res image
Has anyone thought of looking at the Night Terrors legendary gun? I swear it had the same language
@rotund ferry Could you post a pic of it?
Yeah let me jump on the game real quick
Thanks my man
It doesnât have actual writing but it has a lot of symbols that look like what he has on him. Just waiting for the pictures to upload
@wintry panther I have a few more close ups
Yeah I think those are veve although of what loa im not sure. Might be symbols of a certain loa
Is it safe to assume thatâs what they are? I can try to get close ups of his model
#lore-discussion Btw interesting note as I make the timeline, Harold Black (the man who writes about the assasin) met and was friends with Samson before Samson became an armored grunt
@rotund ferry There might be more to it in a close up.
Iâm gonna have to unlock him first, boutta go spend $5 đ
No! Dont worry!
Btw can anyone find out if Nadia Orville's name comes up anywhere. She owns the night terror and I don;t see her anywhere
shes Isaiah powells right hand in the church of the night
Gotchaaaaaaaaaa, right forgot she is a legendary skin
Btw interesting note
In the Butcher entries, there is mention of the Great Fire in Algiers (a real event) where the taxidermist Ariel D'aunoy's taxidermined pets all survived the fire
This explains the butchers immunity to fire
Seems he was very good at making his taxidermy fire retardant
Bt whello Var'uun its been a hot minute
Hello everyone, quick update to the timeline. I have included William Salter's journals and am working my way through the book of monsters for right now.
@wintry panther @rotund ferry those arenât veves, far as I can tell. Unless itâs exhaustively proven theyâre a veve, itâs not safe to say so. Night of the Hunter is less voudou and more voynich and occult stuff, based on what Iâve seen. The reference to the eyes might have completely different implications, like how doctor Reed drew scribbles of what itâs like to peer through a portal from the other side.
@late tinsel Ahhh well based off of the description of the weapon it might be his guilt and the eyes of judgement on him then.
The cult is definitely more occult for sure
I think the eyes are just for that crazy man aesthetic
@rotund ferry those are physics objects that are supposed to jiggle around. Its a known bug that items freeze and remain floating around
@late tinsel can you explain what voynich is? Is it relating to the Voynich Manuscript?
Because if thatâs the case could the game itself be centered around what happens when someone actually figures out wtaf it says?
Because it is suggested that the book holds the guides basically to several of the more famous mystical ideas such as the philosopherâs stone (due to the heavy presence of known alchemical symbols in a portion of the still kept pages) or supposedly opening portals(to..... somewhere?) due to a series of pages with very interesting looking sets of portal-esque drawings
Also it would make a lot of sense due to it originating earlyish 15th century which would coincide with the one lore piece(canât remember which) that states theyâve been hunting monsters since 15th-16th century
re to who winfield is based off of....considering the winfield gun is a winchester model 1873.... yes its very likely that the character is based off oliver winchester
@feral pecan Iâm not 100% sure how voynich fits in Huntverse besides looking like a cool arcane language. Itâs unclear if the manuscript has anything to do with everything going or not, because the voynich text we have uses a custom cypher that can directly translate it to English and the book hasnât been mentioned- as far as I know. In fact, much of the voynich weâve seen has been translated, and most of it is either work by an Arabic philosopher or a reference to somebody named Simon laying in Hell. Itâs enigmatic and hasnât led anywhere helpful yet. Regarding the actual text, itâs probably much more mundane. Even with the alchemy and other weird doodles, it appears to mostly be an alchemy book that has a lot of tips for womenâs health.
Omar KhayyĂĄm. @feral pecan
@forest condor ... @late tinsel beat you to it because hes a GOOD son
What all do we know of this âSimon laying in hellâ
Because Iâm 95% sure there are several stories of similar characters
Would like to know where he is mentioned in the lore pieces (assuming on the guns) so I could start researching it
@sinful trout heck you I'm in school wtf am I supposed to do, not work
@feral pecan there are several Arabic philosophers referenced in the lore
Omar is one of them
The other one is JalÄl ad-DÄ«n Muhammad RĆ«mÄ«
And to be fair these guys have some awesome quotes
"stop acting so small. You are the universe in majestic motion"
@sinful trout ha I got him one even @late tinsel didn't mention
dabs in tired schoolboy
Who TF is anonymous ibex
What is an ibex
A birb
Oof
With a long beak
So a dummy thicc birb
Ohh the tiny boys
Ye
Anyways Arabic philosophers are cool
Iâm just glad that they didnât say that Abdul Alhazred was one of them
Plz no more necro-omnomnomocon
Bombanomacron?
Does this mean the book of gun is now the weaponomacron
Wait so leeches cause a numbing effect? That makes more sense as to how Meatheads can actually soul farm
Soul..... farm....?
Their nickname is soul fsrmer
@forest condor Proud of you my boi. And yeah, sometimes folks donât even feel leeches latch on to them.
Well yeah all leeches are like that same as mosquitoes they use a specific anesthetic that causes the prey to not notice them leeching (namedrop) the blood from them the chemical is typically found in their saliva
What I'm saying is it's enough to stop you from being able to move
Which is freaky
Youâre quite right on that my dude
Spoopy as frik
But then again those leeches are the size of small dogs. So the amount of anesthetic they must output is mind bogglingly large. So basically itâd be the same effect as when youâre entire lower half gets EXTREME pins and needles and itâs hard to walk
Extreme Pins and needles is the best example I could give that everyone could getđ
Very spoopy bruh
I have no legs yet I must run
The actual definition for that sayingđđ
Hello y'all
Im just joining in the chat (finally got a little gap in work)
The whole anonymous whatever thing is google giving nicknames for viewers in a doc to provide anonymity
and @feral pecan the swamp peach actually has text from - Omar Khayyam. Engraving on side- âNo one has seen Heaven or Hell, O heart of mine; Who, say you, has come from that realm, O heart of mine? Our hopes and fears are pinned to that to which, Save a name and notion, we can naught else assign.â
Specifically from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam which was Translated by Edward FitzGerald and kind of created a literature cult
The voynich is more of Crytek's way of hiding information. As we have seen it used to reference Dante's inferno, voudou beliefs, Omar Khayyam and more
I see it more of a code
And we have used two templates to decode voynich. Originally it was the pinned alphabet (which was Crytek's own) but recently they have shifted to the v101 version which is more commonplace https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/370142302196334593/623320987089502241/unknown.png
Vitam Impendere Vero
Vitam Impendere Vero!
Vitam inpendere vero
@wintry panther some weapons use old format some use new
Hell some use 2
Some have changing words from thumbnail to 3d view
Gotta love the consistency
Vitam Impendere Vero
I honestly didnât expect so much lore to be hidden in the book of weapons. I donât necessarily like that it was locked away there, but I appreciated the scavenger hunt where the community worked together to uncover every scrap.
Honestly same and I am still discovering so much more
There are a ton of random details and comments that you can piece together
Tbh I kinda like that they did it through the book of weapons it was very similar to how destiny ones grimoir was unlocked
And I loved that
I liked the grimoir, I hated that it was a better story than the game and it wasnât even readable in the game.
Also perhaps some lore got changed. The entry that said isaac saw a vision in the butchers blood now just says vision. So perhaps it WAS just a redundancy
We also need to ask if Desk of a Hunter is still considered cannon.
@signal heart, @rotund ferry is the desk of a hunter lore still considered cannon?
If we did, I honestly canât remember. Worth a shot just to go back over it for reference.
So the bottom one uses Crytek's cypher and just means "Darker days to come"
Maybe meaning a new time for maps? An eclipse
Or maybe hardcore mode where the eclipse makes everything stronger
Yeah, thats what I thought moon covering the sun.
Ye
But is there evidence towards an eclipse making it stronger?
Keep in mind those werent updated
But if theyâre still canon then it really shouldnât matter right?
We havenât had confirmation yet.
Tru
So what is the in-game lore reason why the AHA didn't allow women?
I was casually pouring over some of the monster lore and noticed something about it being mentioned in the #2 meathead lore page
the 2nd unlockable page
Oh I think the rest of the lore that explains why I don't have unlocked yet lol
but please the tl;dr version if you don't mind
So the meathead was created from two hunters having a baby. Basically the blood of a hunter corrupts the baby in the womb (giving the mom super powers but driving her crazy slowly, while corrupting the baby). The baby then eats its way out of its mother and has no head, and instead has leeches. SO, the AHA created a serum to prevent Hunters from having children. This allowed women hunters to be admitted and is when Crysis released the patch that introduced women hunters into the game (they made that canon too which is pretty cool)
So does that mean all Hunters are sterile or just female hunters?
The baby escaped after killing a bunch of hunters and became the meathead we see around the map now. It grew super fast and is reflective of the first incident that happened. The first time though they managed to kill the baby but it took 12 hunters. This second time they had the child and werent able to contain it
All hunters are sterile
Because they don't know what a hunter & non-hunter baby will become
but dont want to take the risk
The actual entries (pinned lore doc has it or I can send you the book of monsters completed) are super graphic but cool
I also have created a beginners guide that summarized all the book of monster entries and im working on the book of weapons
just lmk and I can send them
that sounds awesome!
@hollow wolf The summary is a little out of date since the book of weapons revealed new info but its still pretty accurate. I tried to keep speculation out of this doc
And here is the completed Book of Monsters
Oh damn
Anyone a doctor? Could help with the two on the right and left
The middle one reads "Husband, I do not know how I shall survive. Both our sons fallen, and you away. Would that we could see each other again on God's Earth, though I should not fear to see you first again in His Heavenly realms. It is simply that..."
The one on the right as far as I can see on first glance "Dear (Tim?), Lord has called you [?] William Hurst? to the [?] shore. Her [?] [?] and will not be forgotten. It is [?], [?] [?]."
@warm lagoon Good find my man
@warm lagoon its been found before. We just believe its a note. As it appears at fort mccarmick and somewhere else too
Keep up the good work though!
@wintry panther I have crap handwriting so I'll see if I can read those

that's as good as I can do right now
Do you guys think the middle note is cut off and there is another half?
I cant wait for that free roam
Gotcha
Yeah that note appears at fort carmick in the barracks I believe
But could still be a second half somewhere
Blew the lid on that conspiracy
Wait wait.... what about the fire of New Orleans.... that couldnât have been fire đ§
Really gets the ol noggin joggin
So that means the fire of new orleans wasnât caused by hive bombs?
Wait a minute....... The_Harmlessfly implying hive bombs caused it?! I think there may be some suspicion behind the name
@wintry panther I can't find any myhtology on Haitian voudou, it might've been oral tales.
@feral pecan Did we pinpoint where we are in louisiana?
We are South of New Orleans near the coast based on the two maps
However, Philip Huff Jones' Asylum is north of New Orleans
Ok, so did we figure anything out because Huff is based on a real person, may help with lore. @wintry panther
@acoustic owl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Welch_Jones
John Welch Jones, (1826â1916) was a medical doctor, Civil War cavalry officer, superintendent of the Insane Asylum of Louisiana, and planter. Jones led the reform of the care of mentally ill people in late nineteenth century Louisiana.
In 1874, Jones was appointed to the position of Superintendent of the Louisiana State Insane Asylum, founded in 1847, (now the East Louisiana State Hospital), which was located near Jackson . In that poverty-stricken, post-civil war time of reconstruction, he found the institution to be in terrible condition. The inmates had no clothes to wear and little food. Jones had to provide funds out of his own pocket.
Jones appointed his son, Philip Huff Jones, M. D., to be assistant superintendent.
@wintry panther Need help with any docs? Sorry if I'm being annoying, lol
Circles are my ideas where they could take place
Uncircled pic shows a little bit more Incase you wanted to see more below port sulphur
@acoustic owl
@acoustic owl No worries! Could always use some help. So there is the desk of a hunter that we now know to still be canon
So we still have to decode the voynich on that
Okay so they did get back to us on that?
From what I have heard yes
Theres also whatever this is
The brown sheet looks like a shipping manifest
This is from 1967 and shows that the government was investigating all of this
Is that what it is? @feral pecan
At first glance it resembles it
Too blurry to make out
But it looks like product over id#
There are several repeating characters so it looks like itâs most definitely encoded
Huh gotcha it might be something about weapons or something then
But what really catches my eye here
Is this bad boi
Heâs like a demonic version of likitung from PokĂ©mon
Old idea for an enemy type?
Some kind of marked?
@wintry panther
And then this is a clock
Of some sort
But it looks like it may be out of order or backwards
Wristwatch maybe?
Maybe? But with the hands, it looks like it could have been a perk. Or maybe life-force? Like time left to live?
What about this?
Speaking of monsters
@feral pecan lmao "demonic likitung" should def be an enemy
I see a wasp and next to it a sea lion
So, can you zoom in?
I canât tell if you were meningitis that as a punđđ
Hmm
What is curious is that one has the hunter mark on it
Armadillo?
if so I dont get what the significance to the Hunter Association would be
Because in my opinion the wasp should have had a mark on it then for the Hive women
Very long list of demons
Maybe a hellhound?
@feral pecan Red marked one is a hellhound.
Second Row: [?], knight, wasp, sea lion
Hmmmmm
Maybe its just how they identified it then or something
Google mezzalorn.
Do we know for sure that? @acoustic owl because if thatâs the case then that starts to make life easier
@feral pecan Yea, I've zoomed in, its the hellhound image from the Monstrvm.
Hmm
I'll do it agai. And repost.
I trust ya
Visual proof, I think at least.
Far left third from the top has writing under it can yâall make heads or tails out of it?
Yeah I most definitely see that now
Itd be easier to crop the image to make it more clear what you're talkin' about.
Okay so maybe thereâs more out there than just the stuff we see in game. But the hellhound is one of the few that we know where it comes from?
Or maybe AHA has garunteed they exist
And thatâs why the marks there?
I need to do ze research.
Well, be back soon boys.
@feral pecan Maybe creatures that are believed to be powerful, hellhounds in packs, Wasps in hordes, etc.
From here we see sea snakes or eels, spider, & lore's hellhound
So maybe this is the hunter's research regarding the monsters we meet
Might be like a grimoire that the hunter went through looking for similarities
I doubt a random hunter would collect research for shits and giggles though.
I mean that poinst to harold.
@acoustic owl @feral pecan Ive found it!!!!!
Its from the 72 Demons of Solomon
Look at the second row fourth one, or the top 3rd one
Theyre exactly the same
@wintry panther Oh shit, beelzebuth, lord of the flies, I knew it.
@wintry panther Upside down cross is saint peter.
This specific art style is from the Dictionnaire Infernal
What about St Peter?
@wintry panther So, it is a latin cross, and peter cross- they both represeent death and the sculptor's second influence is death.
Ahh gotcha! So the AHA logo is a mix of both
No, they both represent death.
Not demon, they're types of crosses
I know I meant in the picture on the table of a demon hunter
So the hunter logo is two crosses
Thats big too
Which represent death.
Gotcha, now the question is inviting death or banishing it?
Perhaps a final, binding death?
Hey, its fox!!
I'm likely wrong though.
@wintry panther
Straight up one is a latin or christian cross, and upside down one is St. Peter.
@wintry panther Butcher is believed to be the behemoth maybe? Humanoid body, animal head?
@wintry panther Working on a doc for the hunters desk and the demons represented.
Top Row; Abigor, Abraxas, Adramelech, Aguares
Middle Row: Alastor, Alocer, Belzebuth, Amon
Third Row: Andradas, Asmonee, Astaroth, __
Bottom Row: Bael, Balan, Barbatos, Behemoth
What is weird is Belzebuth on the second row
And whatever the hunter logo is on
It may not be azael
@acoustic owl
@wintry panther Your email?
Belzebuth is referenced on the desk as well.
Not just in the art, but in one of the quotes.
@wintry panther father is proud
I thought this game had to have some kind of ancient Christian influence
Something about the portals seem off to me tho
*rifts
I need to think more on it
Well humans back in the day would often draw any conclusion towards christianity for anything that they could not explain. So for them the rifts are indeed of Devil spawn or Christian influence. The reason we would see them different is the fact that we have modern technology, Sci-Fi, different religions, facts etc. so we can relate them to a more "portal feel". This is just my own opinion btw i am no expert etc. or have a huge info regarding it. Like the song Devil in the Churchyard lyric "Brother went down to the pasture
Devil on his back" Where the Devil could be the disease(Grunt's) that would make it seem like the devil is here to doom them all since that is what would make sense in that time.
I might be babbling nonsense here to be honest
Just some thought's i had
Youâve the right of it, based on everything Iâve seen.
Yes, though it shouldnât be confused with Haitian Vodou- which is the majority of what we see referenced.
That said, the two have quite a few similarities.
@eternal crystal you're on the right track :)
@eternal crystal I agree with that line of thinking as I have have been thinking specifically about that song
The idea that the saying âgot a devil on his backâ meant he was infected was not a new idea to me but I eventually settled with the original meaning to that old phrase which was if someone was going somewhere with âa devil on their backâ that meant they were going there to kill someone or just going there to do something terrible
Itâs an old southern saying
I first heard it growing up hearing it from my grandparents when theyâd talk about the news
Still my line of thinking is based in opinion
Because who says they canât both be right
Oh yeah i agree! It could mean that he's going there to "kill the people", and those people being infected but since they don't see it that way he is going there to do terrible things. Then progressing into no one returning and she has to go there with axe and gun to take care of it kind of
I like it man!
Good read
(As far as I know) we donât have too many records of those people people who turned into grunts before they turned. So whoâs to say it could have slowly made the infected more violent as the curse/disease/cooties progressed
Iâm glad Iâm not the only one picking up on the last verse as well!
What is still unclear as well is what makes a person into an armored grunt instead of a grunt
So it might have something to do with this?
Hmm hard to say. The "armored plating" seems of layered insect nest of some kind could be wasp and other. To me it seems like a infection that has grown from a rotting corpse rather than a "live" as they seem slower and also more deformed than grunts. But since the infection hit at the corpse stage insects etc. has inhabited the body creating this protection over it's host. The same protection can be seen in the layer of the Assasin that has bugs as his "companions"
Might be way off here tho. But maybe something in that direction
Or maybe you ment the grunt's that are armed? I was talking about the Armored now sorry!
Well we know that the Armored grunts are completely separate from normal grunts in development. And the grunts when they become zombies actually have their heart changed into these black spheres that pump a black liquid filled with bugs throughout the body. This is what controls them
So clearly bugs are a central part of this
This was posted on one of their articles on their page
Trials of dr reed
Yup
lord of the flies
you guys think that grunts etc have a mind of their own or are they directly controlled by the sculptor
if they do, it's totally cut off from the body
mechanical manipulation
a puppet with strings pulled by insects
I know it was stated in the Grunt entries that the mind looks like it is trying to resist the mechanical manipulation and it is actually tearing the muscle apart.
Plus the entry on Dr. Reed shows that mentally the person loses identity as they become more "corrupted" or "controlled"
We have confirmed the people are basically trapped in the zombie bodies. We also know somebody has âcome backâ from the affliction in some capacity.
I highly recommend reading it. It lets you know the general atmosphere of hunt
@late tinsel im still waiting to see who that was
Same.
Part of me thinks theyre reffering to fin... But that wasnt the sculptors influence
Another part of me thinks salter. But he never got better
I donât think we have the entries for it. Iâm sure new weapons and mobs will provide more info.
Part of me feels like ots right there
In our faces
But were not enlightened enough to see it
Salter got killed by the twins so I think it's safe to assume he is out
I can look into it
Another thing to note, who wrote "Bad As They Seem" because it has a third party feel to it even though what is talked about is extremely secret
Btw something I just realized, Charlie Salter starts his journey back to his brother (end of 2/4) on June 10, 1895. And late June is when we hear that William has escaped from the prison and started the journal (1/10)
@wintry panther hayden collins wrote it
I phrased my question wrong, I meant if grunts are like minions to the sculptor or vessels
Are they doing stuff on their own to achieve the sculptors goals or do they remain dormant until the sculptor controls them directly
Personally I just think grunts are a human without a soul anymore
my personal theory is leading me to believe that the sculptor came here to basically farm human souls and grunts are the byproduct of that, just a human without a soul
@sinful trout Thanks!
I think the soul is still stuck in there, struggling against the affliction.
I read that for a second as snuggling and thought that maybe we are misunderstanding this whole thing
Ah yes. The Sculptor was the Snuggler all the long.
We need Twinkubus to do an anime gf version of the Sculptor like the rest of the characters XD
If anyone is in the game btw, check out Lawson Station on high res. Inside the station there are some posters that might give us an accurate look into where exactly it is
Plus time carsd and stuff
Also there was a poster in there for anti venom serums which might be something we can get on the lore doc if we dont have it there alreadt
@wintry panther All the posters are in the lore doc
Gotcha
At the end of âDevil in the Churchyardâ do you think she kills her self or the grunt
@wintry panther Maybe grunt at healing-waters church?
I think she kills herself
I keep thinking about it
I think she uses an 7 chamber pistol
Right? Thats what I thought too, she sounds like she is panicking when she hears the grunt
And kids nursery rhymes usually have a dark undertone
I was curious as to why they kept that in the soundtrack on spotify and stuff
Probably can find a grave somewhere near a chapel of some sort in the game
Which would be freaking awesome
devs furiously taking notes of things to add in next patch around the map
Lolol
Iâd like to say also
That I just realized that the red name tags means mod
Love coming in here to think and read! Good stuff my dudes
I gotchu Bu
Btw back to the problem we have rn
Is from the dictionnaire infernal
But two are out of place. Amduscias and azael are replaced with beezlebub and the âhellhoundâ?
Additionally since the desk is canon we need to translate the papers on it
Another thing to note: the side of the ammo boxes
on the left side is printed the "2nd Lt. Battery Vermont"
To translate voynich we either use this : https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/622963523995303956/627326908438282255/unknown-2.png
Or the pinned one from Crytek
How is bounty physically looks like? and why does AHA needs bounty for? Doe sanyone know?
I think it's just biggest piece of ash from the target left
You need it to confirm the kill
its a part of the targets body
it holds great power and thats why the aha pays a hefty amount for it
@vast tide
I'm telling you, it's voodoo bullshit
And my father told me "Son, never mess with ain't no voodoo"
Its confirmed an organ of aorts containing part of its soul
The appendix, yes.
So THATS what its for
Ok so I just unlocked the poison hand crossbow
