no, just a normal genuine usb to lighting cable, have tried 2 cables. one even being brand new.

also tried the other port on my macbook.

yes, into reovery first.

volume up and then down, hold power until screen is black. when black keep holding power button and press the volume down for 5 secs.

Let go of power & keep holding volume down.

then the apple logo shows & it reboots like normal.

so not sure what's going on.
