Hi! I am quite new to jailbreaking and for the past 3 days I've spent a lot of time trying to make my old iPad mini 2 into a "smart nightstand" (getting iOS 14 widgets so I can add a clock, weather, alarm (maybe?) widget; AirSpeaker so that I can stream audio).
So far my only success with jailbreaking was with Chimera, but that installs Sileo, and a lot of the packages I want have dependencies that I can only solve if I have Cydia (or so I believe, I saw MobileSubstrate multiple times, and as far as I know, Sileo is "substitute").
I had no luck installing so many packages (I saw on a post on this subreddit that cydia repos work on Sileo). Some install but don't work, some have obscure dependencies, some repos don't show up (not valid or something like that).
I tried using Zebra, and it did find some repos which Sileo had trouble with, but in the end, the result was the same - so much dependencies. I am sure I don't understand something and maybe I am doing something wrong...
Another example - I've also tried installing SnowBoard - from some repos it requires MobileSubstrate, from others (when successful) It's nowhere to be found in the settings, no app, no nothing.
Other (unsuccessful) jailbreaks I've tried (also after every attempt I restore RootFS, was told that it is necessary to clean up):
- Fr (the exploit succeeds, but when the device restarts, Cydia is nowhere to be found, and Fr just says "share fr" in a weird font) (I just learned that it's fake, so yeah)
- checkra1n (hanged on "Right before trigger"; tried the A7 workaround with plugging out using bootra1n in USB Safe Mode; also tried the most recent version without the A7 bug, which if I recall correctly, is 0.11.0)
- unc0ver (just says "Unsupported")
I would very much love to bring this iPad to life again, even if I use it like a nightstand, since it's slow for most tasks, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
