It is. That's a bit of a pickle if you got the specs to run it without issues. A 30 FPS stream looks just fine, from what I can tell. If you do need to scale back a setting without lowering video quality.

i'm not sure what might be happening there to cause that much rendering lag. i would probably first check and see if the issue happens in a new scene collection (scene collection->new in the menu), and in safe mode (help->restart in safe mode in the menu) to rule out issues with plugins or browser sources

macOS is doing that, not OBS. in system settings, you can disable "drag windows to screen edges to tile" under desktop & dock to get rid of that behavior

I was using my Gaming PC as a single PC Stream setup. I have a perfectly good M4 Pro Macbook with 24gb of memory sitting here I only use when DJing. Last night I thought it was a smart idea to move my OBS to the Mac, Install the same plugins I had on other OBS and do a test stream.
On my Game PC at idle the Average time to render frame is .6 and while streaming its around 1.1
On the M4 Pro its 4.1 at idle and 11-16 while streaming.
Using VT Hardware x264, 1080p Canvas/Stream, 60fps, No recording tried Metal and Open GL. Adjusted resolution of Monitor to match Canvas, Toggled off extra browser sources and graphics.
I'm struggling to think a 2025 M4 Pro can't stream on OBS and I am stuck at a solution.

My issue is - I am using OBS to record a webinar recording on macOS (macBook Pro) and cannot record in full screen.
In this forum I was told to use Chrome and add some setting to record a full screen, which worked, but i lost the instructions...
Any one knows how to set up Chrome in order to record a full screen in the browser?

Actually the answer is:

in firefox, type about:config in the address bar
click "accept the risks and continue"
search for the entry named widget.windows.window_occlusion_tracking.enabled
set it to false

Not sure if works on the latest versions though...

This is because your screen is a different aspect ratio than the OBS canvas.

In Settings > Video, make Canvas Resolution match your screen, and Output Resolution the same size or same aspect ratio

Hi everyone, I need help with an issue involving using obs to stream a live event on the Insight Timer app. I've created my scene and everything is setup correctly, then when I open Insight Timer and connect to the live event, sometimes the video size changes - sometimes it gets smaller and other times it zooms in really close to my face. It's super weird. I've tried locking the source on the obs scene, but it doesn't hold. And sometimes this even happens mid-stream during my live event! Any advice? I have a screen recording of the issue if necessary. Let me know.

insight timer defaults to using the same camera that obs is using.
And it defaults to forcing this camera to 480p.
When you change that resolution to full HD in iinsight timer, that changes the actual size of it in obs itself and fucks things up

• open obs
• unlock the camera source
• right click it > transform > reset transform
• right click again > transform > fit to screen

I desparately need help. I have an M1 Macbook Pro. I recently updated OBS to the most recent update. I also have the most recent Apple update. Ever since updating I can't get my screen recordings of my video gameplay to render smoothly. My video gameplay is smooth. I don't use ultra or super crazy graphics on my M1 macbook pro. I only use the settings that allow me to play the game smoothly. I've tried playing around with all the setting I know to adjust and try out inside of OBS software and to no avail. Every time my gameplay video saves into hybrid mp4 or matroska video the video when I play back looks just slightly glitchy and not smooth or matching what I see when I play my video game. My video settings are as follows: base canvas resolution: 1920x1080, output (scaled) resolution: 1920x1080, Common FPS Values: 60FPS. My Output settings are as follows: Output mode: advanced, Recording tab-> Type: Standard, Recording format: Hybrid MP4 (.mp4), Video Encoder: Apple VT HEVC Hardware Encoder, Audio Encoder: CoreAudio AAC, Rescale Output: disabled, Custom Muxer Settings: N/A, Encoder settings -> Rate Control: CRF, Quality: 100, Limit bitrate box: unchecked, Keframe Interval: 2s, Profile: Main, Use B-Frames box: unchecked, Spatial AQ: Automatic.

In the past I never had any issues and was able to record gameplay and when i went to go play it back after saving it accurately represented what i saw on my screen when playing. Now after all the updates something has gone awry and my saved videos of my gameplay look choppy and off and something is wrong. I've played around with every encoder setting i know to adjust, but to no avail. Please someone help! I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello guys! I need some help.. I've been having two issues:

1. everytime i restart OBS i have to log in my youtube account again, some place I read that I have to delete the files in every caché folder and so I did. Did not fix it.
2. I can't stream on vertical, it shows this message: "Starting the output failed. Please check the log for details.
   Note: If you are using the NVENC or AMD encoders, make sure your video drivers are up to date."

Mine used to do this, unsure if it's the same, but turned out to be a 3rd party app crashing it. I have stream elements so I don't think it's that. I just went through and deleted them one by one until I found it.

Hey guys, I am currently experiencing an OBS issue I have never had before so was looking to see if anyone would know about a solution:

Whenever I go live, a few minutes into the livestream my OBS MacOS screen capture freezes.

No errors, no encoding overloading issues, just a casual freeze causing my screen for the viewers to be stuck.

I have tried basically every common solution in the book but none of them worked.

Everytime i close OBS my twitch account is disconnected which gets rid of all of my docks

I noticed that other people have complained about the same thing, and im here to tell you i've found a work around but this is NOT a fix because we shouldn't have to do this

Instead of closing OBS with the red X which we are ALL likely used to, either cmd+Q quit it or right click obs in the dock and quit. That will close obs in the way that it used to and when you re open all of your docks etc will be there.

Docks in OBS can be managed from the Docks menu in the main OBS window.

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing, as well as add custom browser-based docks here.

You can also reset the UI from this menu to return your docks to their original state (Docks > Reset Docks).

OBS will not be developed for ChromeOS. The operating system has too many limits in place that prevent OBS from being able to do what it needs to do, and more often than not, Chromebook hardware is too weak to render and encode live video. The Linux Beta for ChromeOS does not change this.

as far as i know, OBS does not need any special permissions to act as a syphon client, so servers should just appear. my first instinct would be to make sure your server is set up correctly. i'd also note that macOS screen capture can capture transparency in windows, so that may be another solution

Hi - I also have an issue and would appreciate guidance. In the previous version, OBS would open with my YouTube account already connected. Ever since updating to the latest version of OBS, it reverts back every time I open it to being signed out and I need to connect to YouTube and drag the live chat section back into view etc. Is there a simple fix? Good morning was hoping to receive assitance on Mac streaming via OBS to Twitch. I have attempted to update Mac OS, latest OBS, previous versions of OBS, I have checked time and date. now it records it live? like it takes whatever version is currently on screen, including just the window bar so like I cannot switch between tabs while recording or even properly adjust the frame to fit the app properly

Cannot find the correct settings for my Mac Mini with M4 chip to smoothly livestream outside using my Samsung s25 Ultra as the OBS preview window plays like a frame every five seconds. When testing, it says I’m not losing many frames. That all tests well. My Samsung signal is excellent. I have Cross tested this as my friend is able to pick up the IRL pro SRT stream from his house on his Mac with no issue. It looks very smooth.

Hi, hoping someone can help me with this, as i cannot find an answer online anywhere. I am on a macbook pro, on Tahoe (current version) and i have been using my tv as a second screen via an HDMI cable to stream, when i do this & open a steam game on the tv, when i am playing whilst streaming, no sounds from obs play to my stream (ie firebot, sound alerts, twitch alerts etc) they only play when i am actively on my main macbook pro screen & back on obs etc. Almost all streamers have multiple monitors so i dont understand why this is happening? (It doesnt happen when i use the tv via a capture card for my switch but i am not extending the display in that, just using it as a media source so different situations i suppose)

If anyone can help id be really grateful as not every game has windowed mode to make small enough on one screen & i feel like this shouldn't be happening anyway

You use OBS to capture the camera and stream it to Liveu, most likely. The important bit is finding out how LiveU wants you to stream. Some sites give you a URL and stream key, some are different. So the first thing you need to find out is how and if you can use OBS to stream to that site.

Hello,

I am new to OBS, but as soon as I installed the software, I immediately received the error seen in the attached screenshot.

I do not have a steam deck and this popped up as soon as I ran the program for the first time after install. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS, but that did not help and the application automatically loaded the profiles I was able to create before uninstalling.

There is no folder in Application Support for OBS for me to delete the plugin from and I get this error on start up every time I open the application despite multiple uninstall/reinstall cycles.

This error some how prevents menus such as for adding sources and scenes from launching and makes the software unusable.

Any ideas?

It was installed, it is not showed in the Plugin Manager, because it fails loading before. You ahve to remove it or update it to the recent version. On windows it was via update the streamdeck software itself (and have obs closed in that time).

What specifically makes you say memory leak then? They usually only happen/are detected after a program has been running for quite awhile. Sounds like you don't have one.
