So I have used OBS twice for recording. I am using an Emeet usb camera for the video, and a rodecaster pro II with rodepod mics for the audio for a podcast i do locally. the first few minutes (3 minutes for the first recording, 1.5 minutes for the second) are recorded with the audio, but then it glitches out (repeating the last line) while the video continues, then the audio completely cuts out.

I've been editing a previous project, and decided to just now do a quick sound test on these two (the second of which i recorded this afternoon) to see how it all sounded

Luckily i've got the audio saved from a micro SD card that was plugged directly into the rodecaster (thank goodness for that redundency) but i have absolutely no clue why or how that would have happened. i don't have the rodecaster plugged in atm but this is my audio setup in OBS. anyone have any ideas of what would have caused this and how to prevent it in the future?

decided to use OBS vs quicktime as quicktime doesnt save the video files in a high enough format. for the recording portion, I hit "start recording" under the controls section

any idea why compared to a year ago I could stream games like Hello Kitty Island adventures and 7 Days to Die at 30fps solid with no issues and these days OBS tanks my fps down towards 11fps which makes them pretty much nonplayable for stream? I picked those 2 as one is a Steam game, the other from Apple Arcade. if I capture a game from my PS5 I have no FPS issues though. I run an M1 imac with 16GB of Ram. Has OBS on Mac just jump its requirements for Mac computer usage that much that M1 isn't very doable anymore?

The view you see in your application is flipped for you only. This is because most applications expect a webcam, and they want to mimic looking in a mirror for your own preview. Everyone else sees what you see in the OBS preview.

1. Close any instances of OBS
2. Uninstall SE.Live (Add/Remove Programs)
3. Uninstall OBS Studio (make sure that "Settings, Scenes, etc." is not selected)

prores eats disk space but you're likely retaining the quality

then you can do a two pass av1 encoding offline

to squeeze out the quality you want

esp for demoscene content

hello. After updating to Mac OS version 26, there was an encoding overload issue intermittently during each broadcast. I suspected hardware and software conflicts for two months and tried to resolve them one by one, but the same problem occurred despite reinstalling the OS, so I looked for help on the Discord channel.

system : M4 Max 16' MacBookPro / MacOS26.1
OBS Ver. : 32.0.2

1. It is a multi-transmission environment through a multi-transmission plug-in, and is broadcast simultaneously to chzzk/YouTube.
   Chzzk : 1080p / Apple VT h264 hardware encoder / CBR / 8000k / profile High
   YouTube : 1440p / Apple VT HEVC hardware encoder / CBR / 24000k / profile Main
   Local Recording : 1440p Apple VT ProRes hardware encoder / ProRes 422 HQ

2. Within a few minutes after starting the broadcast, encoding overload occurs and the entire transmission becomes unstable. At first, I thought it was because the path to save directly to the NAS was unstable, but the same symptom occurred even if I saved to an external SSD.

3. It did not occur with Mac OS 18, but the symptom occurred after upgrading to Mac OS 26.

4. After encoding overload occurs, the bitrate of Chzzk and YouTube transmissions fluctuates significantly.

Hey, anyone running Tahoe yet, can you confirm if the bug with macos screen capturing resources going skyhigh/freezing has been fixed? I've asked a few times about the various posts on the obs forums, like this one -(https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/video-sources-randomly-freezing-mac-m2-pro-–-obs-32-0-1.191229/) - but no replies have been had so far. I've purposely avoided upgrading to Tahoe but would like to know if this is something the obs mac team plans on addressing, or if the recommendation is just "never upgrade".

the issue of SCK sources freezing is typically due to lower disk space availability than macOS apparently needs to keep them running. that's been an issue for several macOS versions at this point. i don't think we have any indications that that is more of an issue in macOS 26 than it is in prior versions. on my own machine, i usually need at least 50GB free to avoid most random freezing

on the topic of performance, it's not surprising to hear that SCK performance is worse in macOS 26, given the more expensive rendering patterns for everything, but we also don't really have solid data or even a lot of solid reports on the topic, and it would be very difficult to gather that data in the first place because it would basically require having two of the same machine with two different OSs installed

moreover, even if we highly confident that SCK performance is worse with the same workloads on macOS 26, there is not much we would be able to do about it on the OBS side. apple controls how well or how poorly the SCK system performs, and the most we can do is ask users to submit feedback and submit feedback ourselves and see if they consider it a priority enough to address it. without concrete performance data or many solid reports on the topic, i don't think we have lodged anything to date about the issue

and just to reiterate, if the UI is more expensive to render in macOS 26 as a baseline, which by most indications it is, then by necessity SCK will appear slower as well, even if there isn't necessarily an issue in SCK itself

(SCK is the thing that powers macOS screen capture in OBS)

Let me ask you this - I've been keeping the deprecated window/screen capture in my scenes for a while now because back when OBS started supporting the newer MacOS SCK, I was having problems with it even then with some random freezing, so i moved back to the deprecated sources and have had no problems since. I wonder if i upgrade to Tahoe, if i won't experience any performance issues since i've been using the older deprecated capture methods? Which leads me to the next question - are there any plans to remove the deprecated ones? (I hope not!)

the performance of the deprecated sources should remain the same on upgrade, yes (as far as i know), though apple has been discouraging the use of that API for a long time now and i wouldn't consider it a certainty that they continue working forever; i don't think on the OBS side there are many reasons left for keeping them around either

the performance of the deprecated sources has always been very poor compared to screencapturekit as well, not to mention other issues with them like frame drops and inaccurate colors. i would hope that you can solve the freezing issue and use the SCK sources instead. even if SCK has performance issues in macOS 26, it'll still be more performant than the deprecated types, assuming the freezes are solved

I'm using OBS on MacOS to run a hybrid club meeting. We switch between cameras, screen captured slides, and videos that we set up as media sources and share the virtual camera to Zoom. The video play controls are only visible when the scene is in preview, so I have to bring the video scene to preview, cut to program, bring it back into preview, Is there a way to have the controls available and tied to the program window?

Apple Silicon Macs: use the recording quality presets in Simple Mode:

1. In OBS Settings → Output, set the Output Mode to Simple
2. In the Recording section, choose Indistinguishable Quality as the Recording Quality
3. Set your Video Encoder to "Hardware, H.264" (more compatible) or "Hardware, HEVC" (smaller file size).

Intel Macs: use these recommended recording settings. Note: you only use these settings for recording, not streaming.

I’m on a Mac M2 Silicon Studio, plenty of RAM, plenty of space, and at random, any program captures (particularly of Discord), will freeze, stop taking in the audio, freeze the video, etc. I run a D&D stream/YouTube, so it’s pretty important to anyone watching that they at least hear what’s going on in the campaign.

I’ve seen lots of people online ask about this freezing Application capture problem with no solution. Is it a known bug, or can something be done?

At first I thought maybe I was bumping a wire, but then I strapped all of the wires down to where bumping them is impossible.

And still anywhere from 4-8 times per 4 hour session, it will freeze.

Hi there! I've got custom emojis in YouTube for members now, and I can't find an overlay setup that will display them on screen via OBS. Streamlabs doesn't support them... wondering if y'all know of a program that does? I need the option for a transparent background, too, so I can't just do a browser source of the YT chat window.

as far as I know youtube doesn't have an API endpoint for their custom emojis, meaning that third party programs cannot get the image and display it

so basically, the only way to display them would be to use youtube's own chat

Hello, I recently upgraded to an Elgato HD60 X capture card from a Elgato HD60 S+. I'm trying to record gameplay footage @ 1080p60 from a PS5 Pro on a MacBook Pro, but I'm having issues with video stuttering/frame drops in both Elgato Studio and OBS, even in the preview window while not recording. The recorded video stutters as well, while the passthrough monitor shows smooth 2160p@60fps gameplay. My previous Elgato HD60 S+ capture card had no issues with this exact same setup, but unfortunately I don't have the HD60 S+ anymore.

PS5 Pro @ 2160p, HDCP is Off, VRR is Off, HDR is Off, 120 Hz Output is Off

I have installed the latest Elgato HD60 X Firmware: Base: 25.07.16, MCU: 25.06.27

The Elgato HD60 X is connected to my Mac using the provided USB3 USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-C to USB 3.1 M/F Cable Adapter. System Information shows that the Elgato HD60 X is connected to the USB 3.1 Bus with 5 Gb/s Link Speed.

I have tried changing all settings in the Elgato Capture Device Utility to no avail: Input EDID Modes, HDR Tonemapping, HDMI Audio.
I've also tried adding the HD60X as a Video Capture Device and as a Capture Card Device in OBS, but I get the same video stuttering in both.

usually the first line of triage for an issue like this is to swap out cables and any adapters in use. the ideal connection is always something like a direct thunderbolt connection without any adapters between. in general adapters should be the first thing to check

Unfortunately, I don't have another adapter to try at the moment. But I have tried connecting the Elgato HD60 X to my PC today using the original USB3 cable, without any adapters. I get the same video stuttering on the PC as well.

if that's the case then it could just be that you have a bad unit, or at least a bad cable given to you by elgato. i'd recommend reaching out to elgato's support channels as well, that's likely what they're there for

i'll be trying to pay attention to whether macOS tahoe actually has an increase in macOS screen capture sources freezing randomly, but given that this has been an issue since apple introduced SCK it will be hard to figure out anything definitive

one thing i would recommend is filing feedback with apple about the issue

another thing i would recommend is seeing if you can figure out any way to reliably reproduce the freeze on command. if we had something like that to report to apple, it would be very useful

Hi guys,

I have been using OBS (32.0.1 until Monday 10 November 2025, on Tahoe 26.0 and it has been a perfect combination for videos etc. At the end of Monday I updated OBS to 32.0.2 and it started freezing my video during recording, within 10 seconds of opening up OBS and the video would immediately freeze. I tried loads of workarounds and suggestions by AI to no avail. Last night I updated Tahoe to 26.1 in this Mac here and OBS took 2 hours to freeze my video, meaning, it improved a lot but the problem remains.

Does anyone here have a tip or workaround I could put in place? The freezing problem now happens more regularly than the initial 2 hours it took to freeze. Just now I restarted OBS and it took just a few minutes to freeze the video. So, it is impossible for me to shoot my podcast at the moment via OBS.

Any tips or help would be very much appreciated.

I’ve been using OBS 32.0.1 on macOS Tahoe 26.0 with zero issues — perfect for podcast filming. After updating OBS to 32.0.2, my Sony ZV-1 → Elgato Cam Link 4K → M2 Mac (USB-C) setup began freezing within seconds of opening OBS. The preview and recording both freeze (like a still photo), though audio continues.

After updating macOS to Tahoe 26.1, the camera stayed active for almost 2 hours once, but now freezes again within minutes. The same setup worked flawlessly for weeks before the update, so something changed in 32.0.2 or its interaction with macOS.

What I’ve tried:

Full clean uninstall / reinstall of OBS (deleted all support folders, receipts, and caches).

Renderer set to OpenGL.

Capture settings: Custom 1920×1080 @ 30 FPS, YUY2, buffering off, “Deactivate when not showing” on.

Direct USB 3 connection (no hub, Belkin high-speed cable).

Removed Camo, Insta360, and Teams.

Reset macOS camera services:

Camera works fine in QuickTime (so freeze happens only in OBS).

Somebody will help you if they’re able to, but the number of volunteers who are able to help is proportionately less than Windows.

that's basically just a consequence of how the encoder has to make quality sacrifices to meet the target bitrate. i don't know of any way around that, especially when streaming with a constant bitrate

for local recordings, you might get better results with CRF/quality rather than target bitrates

i only have a 3070 in my windwos pc. it struggles to stream/record, and game on my 1440p monitor at the same time. I get a lot of random encoder overloads and lag spikes when i try to do it all from my windows pc

If I bump my settings down in game to 1440 low and stream and record at 720p it doesn't have issues. But Id rather game at high settings and stream at 1080p60

With x264, you could tweak the in-loop deblocking filter to get a blurrier image with fewer blocking artifacts, but I don't know if Apple laptops have adequate enough cooling to avoid overheating if you use it; I heard some had melting keyboards, though that's likely an exaggeration.

Try x264 with the medium preset, try adding deblock=2:2 to x264 options.

You can try out various encoding options by recording to avoid having to appear live.

yeah I've been testing a lot. I've had the best qualtiy so far with the Apple HEVC hardware encoder for recording. But for live stream I use the Apple vt h264 hardware encoder

Also, in most x264 encoders, x264 would log which settings had been used, directly in the video file, but obs-studio seems to be stripping that. Inconvenient.

Try making short recordings of a still image, with deblock set to 3:3 and -3:-3, and comparing the recordings.

This is an odd question, but why does OBS take up so much RAM on Mac? For my Windows friends, OBS takes up a mere 70MB; but for me, recording one window uses up to 3GB and starts the fans.

@pale rivet metal support just arrived in OBS 32, it's pretty new but it works well from my usage... you might run into some issues where some visual plugins that are implemented for OpenGL wouldn't work well; but the performance gain using metal is so great imo so i don't mind taking that hit.

Hi, here is something I didn't find a clear answer anywhere else...

If enthusiast and professional cameras like the Canon EOS R, Canon EOS R5, Canon EOS R6 Mark II, Canon C70, Canon C80, Canon C50, Sony FX3, Sony FX30, etc. can output video trough the HDMI port using a LOG gamma, and to get the most out of that gamma, it uses Rec.2020 as color space in full range video, but video capture devices like Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ and Elgato Cam Link 4K can't handle Rec.2020 HDMI signal, how do apps like OBS and Ecamm Live can make the camera manufacturer technical LUT work with them? Considering that the technical LUT is made for Rec.2020 or Cinema Gamut and NOT a Rec.709 color space in either OBS or Ecamm Live.

if OBS is full screen in another "space," applications outside that "space" don't exist as far as macOS screen capture is concerned

unless something is visible, it kind of doesn't exist as far as macOS is concerned

that's a bit of a simplification, but for usage purposes it can be thought of that way

I just finished a 5-6 hour recording with window capture on Clip Studio Paint, OBS got stuck on "stopping recording" and usually when it does that I just double click the button and it saves as it should. This time it only saved 3 hours of footage, the rest is gone and I can't find any way to locate it or restore it (if that's even possible). Is there any way at all to get the rest of the footage? I feel so frustraded, most of my painting process is gone. We have been using the elgato stream deck xl with OBS plugin to control much of our OBS interface using tactile buttons. We have been using hotkeys to control our cuts and fades instead of the OBS plugin function because there is less delay. After the last update to OBS, on macOS these two buttons only work while we are clicked into the OBS window. All other buttons and functions work fine. We have tried to ensure everything is er right in accessibility to ensure global hotkey access to both OBS as well as input monitoring. Any other suggestions to fix this issue. It is relatively vital because we use OBS with the elgato and have someone else using the mouse and keyboard for other tasks at the same time. Any help is appreciated.

Docks in OBS can be managed from the Docks menu in the main OBS window.

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing, as well as add custom browser-based docks here.

You can also reset the UI from this menu to return your docks to their original state (Docks > Reset Docks).

Hi, I've been using my Elgato HD60 X with OBS and it was working easily and perfectly fine, but I tried using it as usual the other day and it doesn't connect properly now. It says that the output resolution is invalid, but I haven't changed anything or settings and I'm trying to get it to input at 1920x1080p but it won't give me the option to select it on the popup screen. Hello, I use OBS with my iphone as the camera (on a macbookpro) Recently I got a new phone (iphone 12 mini > iphone 14 pro) and it does connect to the camera when the phone is plugged into the laptop -- but when it's not plugged in, it acts like it's connected, but I just get a black screen in OBS. I went through the troubleshooting and selected dynamically control bitrate to compensate for network congestion and it did not drop any frame, however, the network still drops to less than 400 kb/s multiple times in which i still need help figuring out the issue because the stream at that rate would be less than desirable quality.

Is there a recommended way to cleanly capture OBS (either a scene or program output) with both audio and video for screen sharing in Discord on macOS? I tried using a windowed projector but that resulted in the screen share in Discord showing window decoration. Right now Discord on my machine can't see fullscreen windows, not sure if that's misconfiguration on my end but that means I can't use a fullscreen Projector. And using virtual camera works but doesn't send audio -- that might also be misconfiguration on my part in some way?

!vbcable Virtual camera is the best way, yup, as Discord gets weird with projector windows sometimes.

But since the vcam does not carry audio, you need to do the steps below

1. Install VB-Audio CABLE. (A reboot is not required)
2. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio and select "CABLE Input" as your Monitoring Device
3. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties and enable Audio Monitoring for the audio sources you'd like to stream to Discord.
4. In Discord, in Voice & Video settings, select "CABLE Output" instead of your microphone under "Input device".

Now anything you monitor in OBS Studio will be streamed to Discord. Similar steps will work with other conferencing apps, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack.

That solution isn't ideal, since that puts the audio at the mercy of Discord's rather aggressive microphone processing behavior, but I will live with it. It's a pity Discord doesn't handle window capture better. I see there are PRs in progress that address the possibility of decoration-less projector windows--maybe that will be a better solution in the future, at least on macOS.

No, you don't have to use the Discord audio processing. You can turn it off, or you can use the Discord Screenshare option called "Devices". That allows you to pick an audio device for the share. That is where you use the virtual cable, and monitor only your audio sources besides your mic.

Then you can still use your mic as the regular input device in Discord, keeping it separate.

Hello, I’m trying to stream gameplay from my PS5 using OBS on my MacBook. Everything is working perfectly except my game audio. I have my chat link cable (long black cable) connected to my elgato, the male input of my headset plugged into the female input, which is then plugged into my controller. The game audio on stream, keeps cutting in and out and I’m not sure what the issue is. I can hear the game audio perfectly fine through my headset and from my monitor but just on stream, it’s very choppy.

Check the Mic Mode, it needs to be on Standard, otherwise the Mac applies automatic noise suppression. A capture card audio device is treated like a mic.

I was referring to the audio coming out of the TV. On my PS5, I have the audio output setting to my controller headset currently, and the audio bar in audio mixer, on OBS, clips in and out. When I unplug my headset, and just have the audio coming from my TV, the audio bar in audio mixer on OBS, doesn’t move at all

Yeah, the console can only send audio to one place at a time on its own. The chat link allows it to come through both your headset and wherever you have the chat linked plugged in. The TV you have using passthrough gets it from splitting the HDMI.

Do you have the chat link connected to the capture card or to an aux plug on the computer?

With no chat link, look at audio settings in the Elgato app. There's one that's like analog vs HDMI. Analog is the chat link, HDMI is straight capture card audio for when you have no chat link plugged in

And fo the no chat link test, you need it unplugged from everything

It averages the audio between both channels, and duplicates that average on both channels.

It doesnt convert a stereo source into a mono source.

This should be visible within OBS itself as enabling the Mono checkbox doesnt change the source in the mixer from having 2 visible channels to a single one. It still has the 2 channels

The replay video plays instantly on screen.

i am having an issue in OBS where my screen share will randomly freeze, as will my computer audio. i have to open the screen share in OBS and manually refresh the feed. sometimes it will freeze again almost immediately. other times it works fine.

i've been using OBS for over a year and streaming 6 days a week, sometimes more. this has been a recent problem, within the last two or three months, that seems to have increased with severity over time. i am not sure if i should revert back to an older version, or if this is a known problem that will be fixed.

on the forums i found a python script that is meant to solve this problem. unfortunately, the python script crashes OBS, even though other scripts seem to load just fine.

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing, as well as add custom browser-based docks here.

Hello everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble getting my OBS to recognize the svt-av1 encoder in the Recordings Tab. Even going into the custom FFmpeg output tab doesn't show svt-av1 available, only aom-av1, and the Standard output tab does the same.

I've used the most up to date OBS release, and I've compiled it using Xcode in hopes that it would pick up on my local ffmpeg/svt-av1 install. I've been trying to see if there's some part of code that I can go in to enable it, or if there's something in a CMake file I need to change, but I've been at a complete loss this whole time. Where would I even go to report to my local OBS install that svt-av1 is available, or how would I include it into my personal build? Thank you all for your time reading and helping 🩵

yup, the CMake install said it found a version newer than required, and the version it reported was the same as my brew'd install. after about 3 hours of digging through the OBS code and trying out different CMake parameters, I just did what I was trying to do with FFmpeg directly... but then the audio ended up being terrible no matter what settings I use. But that supposedly has been an issue with FFmpeg's implementation of avfoundation for years; regardless, that's outside of this, only just another reason I gotta keep searching for how to implement svt-av1 in OBS.

I tried changing the function that tries to find svt-av1 by name into one that directly adds svt-av1, but OBS crashed consistently during my testing with that change... kinda expected.

I'm pretty sure those Desktop Audio devices in that photo are a byproduct of Windows/Linux related stuff. Generally macOS screen audio comes directly from the screen capture source, do you have a macOS Screen Capture source active in your scene?

ah! if you go into where it says sources, and click on the + button at the bottom, it should give you a list of what you're able to add to your scene. Among those should be one for screen capture and audio capture. The screen capture should by default include audio as well, so you should only need to add the macOS Screen Capture.

without hours of tinkering,,,, there's probably no way sadly. iPads don't support running macOS apps :/ one thing that might work would be running a virtual machine using UTM, but that'll be incredibly slow and wouldn't do well for 4K, if it even works at all, and the alternative of porting OBS to ipadOS would be an undertaking that could take months or even years

Hello, I'm playing around with OBS 32.0.3 (Mac mini M4) and got a weird bug: After a couple of times when i change the Scenes, OBS is freezing in intervalls and runs only normal again, when i make my Mic / Audio Interface Invisible. I record that in a short Clip how it looks like.

it's moreso that iPad apps can run on macOS, no? to my knowledge (which to be fair, is definitely not well versed here), macOS has a lot of frameworks that don't carry over to iPadOS, which could be resolved by Apple either implementing more support for macOS specific frameworks in iPadOS, or just porting macOS to iPad, which plenty of people have been clamoring for for years. OBS isn't a program that'd just easily port over with the click of a button due to its technical and production-focused nature, especially since it's not written in Swift, but Apple has very little hindering them from investing money into what would without a doubt be an incredibly useful compatibility tool. That's why I had brought up that side of blaming Apple, sorry for not being more clear initially! (also sry if i @'d you by replying, i generally try to not unless its important, but i wasnt paying attention at that moment since i had just woken up)

Towards the bottom, OBS has this to say: "Source Headset audio is lagging (over by 2068.08 ms) at max audio buffering. Restarting source audio."

I couldn't see anything else of note, so I'm afraid it's likely more of an issue with macOS, your USB hub you're using to connect everything to, or your audio/video hardware itself. I'd recommend trying and using your setup in other applications to see if the lag still happens (like maybe photo booth, a discord video call, etc). It very well could just be a bandwidth issue (i.e. maybe you're overloading the USB-C ports with too much data)?

Okay! After analyzing the log a bit deeper, I couldn't find any relevant errors, but I did have a thought from looking at your scenes! I imagine what's happening is in fact an overload of data due to duplicated inputs, and fortunately (while not something ive used before) OBS appears to have a source by reference feature! Basically, instead of all your sources independently accessing your hardware in multiple scenes as they are currently, each duplicated source would be piggybacking off of an initial source input to minimize the amount of data being transferred.

While I'm not 100% certain if my theory of data overloading is the cause of your problems, it seems like a reasonable explanation given the amount of duplicated inputs you have. Regrettably for you, this does mean you'll have to reconfigure your scenes to remove all the duplicates (to then add them as references), but ideally it should solve the problem.

What you should be able to do after removing all the duplicated scenes is have all your main source inputs in one of your scenes (for example, have everything inside of intro), select all the sources you'd like in another scene (you should be able to select all the sources you'd want at the same time), right click and select copy, then in your other scenes just right click in the empty space under sources and select "paste as reference."

then ofc test everything again and see if your scene transitions are smoother! and even if this doesn't work to fix this specific problem, it'd probably just be good to do this for your hardware regardless. I'll delve into the problem deeper if this doesn't end up working.

I went into properties and refreshed the default settings, but that alone didn't do it. I then went in and refreshed the video format (720x 540) and then it suddenly showed up. I think that's what I did last year when I last used the software. Other than that, I find OBS to be very stable and reliable. I just don't get to use very often so I forget what needs to be done, I'm old.

First of all - thanks for that great Input! I really want to solve this issue and yes, your explaination makes sense. It could really be the multiple same sources, especially when it comes to Hardware Inputs.

I want to try another Way and put all my needed Sources in One Main Scene. From there i will copy and paste them with reference to my other scenes. Then i will Take a look if this solves my Problem.

And maybe we can go a bit deeper: My Scarlet 2i2 has two Audio Inputs. In Input 1 there is my Shure Mic for Chatting and regular Gameplay. In Input 2 there is my AudioTechnica Headset for Racing Content like Gran Turismo 7 and ETS/ATS. Now comes the Flip: I need to Mute/Unmute both inputs seperate, as a Bonus with my Stream Deck. How can i configure this correcty in OBS? I've seen the Downmixing option and when i deactivate it, ic can controll each of both Inputs seperate. But for OBS the Scarlet 2i2 is "One" Audio Device" in the End.
I hope i can explain it right. Do you have any ideas?

Hi everyone, I need some advice on OBS configuration. I hope I’m in the right place and not bothering anyone or repeating a topic. If so, I apologize in advance.

I stream World of Warcraft on YouTube with a 16” MacBook Pro M4 Max, 32 GPU cores, 48GB RAM, on a 1Gb FTTH fiber connection.

Everything seems to work during the stream, but in the end I end up with video “skips” in the recording.

I’m attaching one of the log files and screenshots of my configuration, which was recommended by my gamer friends—although they all stream from PC.

If possible, I’d like you to suggest a configuration that avoids this kind of skipping (except occasionally) while keeping the image quality as high as possible.

Hmm... I'm afraid I'm not familiar with anything like this, nor do I have any way to test something similar on my end.

My first thought is to just have your Scarlet 2i2 duplicated (not as references, at least in the main scene they reside in), and for each source only have one input enabled. That way you should be able to independently mix them to your needs. I would not be surprised if there's a more efficient way of handling this, but it's just not something I can really help with beyond that quick-fix idea. All of my audio inputs are standalone, nor do I have access to a more professional audio interface. Another thought is to maybe handle effects/filtering in a separate audio processing program (something adjacent to adobe audition), but I feel like that's not ideal, nor would I have any idea what program to recommend.

Considering the sheer quality of what you're simultaneously streaming & recording, I wouldn't be surprised if you're pushing the limits of what your machine can handle...

Is there a specific reason you're not using the "(Use stream encoder)" selection under the Recording tab's Video Encoder option? If you wouldn't mind the stipulation of being unable to pause your recording, selecting that will drastically reduce the load on your GPU, as it'll have only one video stream to encode rather than two. It also shouldn't affect the quality of your recording at all either, as it appears you have the exact same settings for both your stream & recording already.

But I don’t record and stream at the same time. I only stream on YouTube without recording anything locally.

Salutations and good day. I've been having a weird issue recently. Anytime I close my OBS application, a half-minute later I get an error message saying that it had to close itself. I'm not sure what it's all about, but it's getting annoying. Does anyone have any idea what this might be caused by?
