Hi, this has happened to me twice now where I have downloaded an earlier version of OBS 31.1.2 because I use a PNGtuber that has a bug with the syphon client in the latest version 32.0.1 but every time I close out the program and come back to it later, it has auto updated to the latest version even tho I have that setting turned off in OBS settings. Can someone help me with this?

OBS won't auto-update; you have to affirmatively click the button to update. you probably have two separate versions of OBS on your machine, and are launching OBS 32.0.1 unintentionally

Yeah I checked my Trash bin and I deleted the newer version and kept the older version it works just fine until I close the application and come back to it later. At some point between closing and reopening, the app updates. I ahve that setting thurned off tho which is the weird part

a plugin can do a lot of different things when it's installed. as such, it's generally the responsibility of the plugin developer to provide a process for also uninstalling the plugin. i would agree that you should visit their documentation to see if they include a way to uninstall. and if they do not, i would probably let them know that that's an issue

I have an issue I keep running into. Whenever I turn on 120hz refresh rate on my PlayStation, the quality of my obs recordings/streams/preview window literally goes to what looks like 480p. My capture card supports up to 240fps 1080p and even 120hz 1440p but the quality looks just awful. Mac m4 btw

Hi i need help with this issue. The audio emitting from my mac, is choppy when its related to in game sounds. Through the headset it sounds fine but when coming through obs, with monitor and output its choppy. Ive tried everything and its not a headset or cable issue. This only happens in obs, when i use se.live which is just an obs plugin that i can open separately instead of the standard obs application it sounds perfect, and if i just record the audio through quicktime without monitor and output its fine. its a really weird issue that im desperate to fix.

Since Twitch controls all of your streaming settings, and it's running multiple encodes, I think your best bet is disabling Enhanced Broadcasting.

!teb So Twitch actually changes which settings they will use regularly, you might reach out and see if they made any changes to the encoding settings they use on your computer. It's more likely that's what happened. OBS doesn't change your settings, and versions almost never do things that decrease performance.

Hello. Drop down menus are "flash frozen" when I try to reload OBS, i'I can't seem to delete Aitum Add ons to test to see if it's an OBS issue or Aitum issue.

im trying to Stream over OBS. i got a ElGato Capture Card connected from my PS5 to my Mac. If i go on Start Stream. OBS says "No URL or Stream Key"
The i go to Settings and try to connect twitch and OBS crashes.

If i Start OBS new i got a notice that my Stream Deck Plugin has to be removed or updated. i thought it would be because of the Plugin. But even with disabled Plugin (Going through Tool -> Plugins -> disableling SteamDeck) The same crashes happens. Some one with ideas in here?

And it crashes also wenn im adding the Stream Key

I'm using a 16" MPB w/ an M3 Max. I've been pulling in multiple SRT feeds with the standard OBS Media Source for years according to the SRT Protocol Streaming Guide. Starting with the last production versions of OBS 31 and with all versions of OBS 32 I am experiencing issues when the "Use Hardware Decoding when available" option is enabled. I hesitate to call it a stutter. because it's a lot worse than that. It appears that full seconds of the incoming stream are lost. The visual works on stream, just not the audio and its turned up all the way. Any suggestions? I use remote play but ive never had audio issues with it.

Hello, I am getting an error message whenever I open OBS. It doesn't actually affect anything but I would like to resolve the issue. It says the following plugins failed to load: obs-ios-camera-source and source-record. Please update these plugins.

I can't remember the proper way to update them. Nothing shows up in the Plugin Manager. I think there was an update to OBS that makes them no longer necessary because I do use my iphone as a source and the plugin issue doesn't affect it.

Looking for some computer advice. I'm using a 2024 Macbook Air M3 16gbram. After streaming a few times, I'm encountering the same "encoder overloading" error flickering during live streaming and mac starts to lag. I'm not recording. Have experimented with numerous output settings. I'm at 1080p/30fps. Hardware encoder enabled. CPU usage never really goes higher than 15%. I'm running two camera. 3 if you count the unsed facecam. OBS, OBSBOT Center, Spotify, Discord, Chrome open. Is this mac not built for this task? Do I need something with dedicated GPU? Anyone else using Mac? Settings to try that I haven't thought of?

1. Exit OBS (make sure OBS is not running)
2. Press win+r, paste %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser and hit enter
3. Delete the folder obs_profile_cookies
4. Start OBS

Yes I’m actually using it. When I open OBS it tries to connect with twitch and then crashes saying that authorization is not valid and gives an error message. I’ve tried manually entering the stream key but that doesn’t work.

Im trying to stream games to discord through my PlayStation, I have a capture card connected and the video and everything is fine, however my audio doesn’t go through. I'm using my MacBook and every guide video I look up has a step where they click on "Application Audio Capture (BETA)" but I don't have that option. I’m sure there’s a solution that’s different on there, but I’m not entirely sure how. Also, for the step of using a speaker that isn’t in use, I downloaded an app called black hole I saw recommended and I’m unsure if there’s a better option.

Hello! I am needing some help. My OBS and stream has been crashing CONSTANTLY and on Saturday, it crashed 3 times. I usually just FORCE quit OBS, relaunch and it works until it decides to crash again. I'm not sure if this is the right channel and if you need logs or whatever, I can send those too at least from Saturday. I did get Fiber internet (I have reached out to them and in constant contact with them) and it seems to only be affecting my streams. I stream on Twitch only. I did download the older version of 31 and it still lags/crashes. Now when I open OBS, I do have the STATS window open, and it's showing frames missed without even being live. I have NO idea why this is happening as the only thing that changed was my internet and I have 2GB and my upload is around 1.3GB so I know it's not at least that. It is making it VERY difficult to stream because it crashes and it's VERY random. Any help/support would be greatly appreciated. I am on a Macbook Pro, 2024 with the M3 chip and I did run a test on the laptop and everything came back fine.

Hello Everyone - Longtime OBS user here - I'm guessing you're going to tell me it's time to upgrade.... but i figured i'd ask....
Mac Mini (late 2012) 2.5GHz Dual-Core i5 / 16GB / macOS Catalina 10.15.7 / OBS 29.0.0
Things are running well except for the fact that the audio is about 3-4 seconds ahead of the video and that is with a 2 second delay on the sound board and -900ms delay in OBS.

Is it time to upgrade my hardware to address this issue?

Hi there. I'mlooking for Pro Tools with OBS people...

I've been using OBS for a while now. I'm on a mac, OS Sonoma 14.7.

I use it for livestreaming "concerts" and have all the mics/inputs being mixed in Pro Tools, and bused to an external USB mixing console that has a usb cable into my mac to get the audio to OBS, and am using the mic/aux as my audio source in my "Scene" and have USB Audio CODEC selected in the audio settings in OBS.

It has worked beautifully until today. I went to stream, and OBS wasn't receiving any audio levels. The one thing that changed is that I updated Pro Tools to 2025.10 yesterday.

I see audio levels in Pro Tools, the buses all have levels, as well as the mixing console... it's just not making it to OBS. I checked all the settings in OBS and the USB Audio CODEC is still selected as the audio device.

Does anyone have any ideas why it's suddenly not working?

i record in 1440p and with opengl it works up to 120 fps but 180 doesnt work (i tried that because my monitor refresh rate is 180Hz)
i havent tested if 1440p 120 fps works with metal but it didnt work with 180 fps similar to opengl
even though metal should probably have better performance than opengl because its optimized for macos and apple didnt update opengl since 4.1

I don't have enough direct knowledge, but you might be expecting a lot "better performance" doesn't necessarily mean 50% faster. So even if it IS better performance, that doesn't automatically mean you'll reach 180 fps.

Also when recording, rendering is not the only possible bottleneck, encoding is also a possible one and imo is more often the limiting factor, and changing rnderers won't affect that

• in Finder, navigate to "Go->Go to Folder..."
• paste in ~/Library/Application Support/ and press enter:

Although it is not listed in the HOTKEYS. Although the internet says: "There are no generel hotkeys in OBS apart from some CTRL + something to fit sources to the screen. Sharing Screen Resolution via Zoom

Getting a bit frustrated with this, so apologies if it’s something simple, I'm new to OBS.

When I share my screen on Zoom using OBS, the video quality is very poor, very fuzzy.

I’m running a Mac Mini M4 Pro with a BenQ 32-inch 5K monitor, currently set to 2560x1440 (ageing eyes).

I’ve tried changing the base canvas, output resolution, and bitrate in OBS, as I plan to use Restream later.

Zoom’s video quality setting is already set to HD.

Can anyone advise what might be causing the low-res output?

I suspect I’m overcomplicating something simple.

I use OBS for streaming along with Enhanced Broadcast to send multiple streams to Twitch. However, I occasionally experience sudden frame drops without any warning. My internet connection is stable and far exceeds the required upload speed. I’ve tested the setup on both Wi-Fi and LAN, but the issue persists — the upload rate drops suddenly (as shown in the bottom-right corner of OBS), eventually causing frame drops.

I want to use streamer.bot on a mac using UTM and got it working. Just can't manage to connect the streamer.bot Chat dock in OBS which is running on my Mac.
I can run the web socket server on streamer.bot using the IP adress of the UTM but can't connect to it in the dock in OBS...

Hi All, I'm using latest version of OBS (with latest version of MacOS).

While streaming, I'm using audio capture - application level, with Spotify as source. This works fine at the start.

While streaming, every few minutes this source dies, and requires I go to properties and 'restart' it. This happens non-stop every few minutes at seemingly random intervals.

In testing (to give you all info) I noticed this happened at the EXACT moment a 'tool tip' from MacOS showed on screen (likely playing desktop audio too?).

Well looks like Advanced Scene Switcher cannot actually do a "restart audio capture" function despite being able to detect the stopping of audio.

Further the lua scripting API in OBS also doesn't support doing an audio source restart either.

At this point I'm not sure it's possible to 'fix' this issue without OBS either fixing the bug, or adding better/more audio restart controls in some manner.

Is there a place to formally file a bug in OBS for this?

My OBS is immediately crashing ("Did not shut down correctly. Run in safe mode." error), but then won't open up AT ALL. This started on one device (macbook pro M3) in September (updated everything and still happening); and, now it's happening on my backup device (macbook pro M1). Honestly; i can't figure it out; it happens randomly every so often tbh.

So basically; i go on a zoom call every Sunday and so then i use obs as a virtual camera to be able to show different things on my scenes. every sudnay i'll also stream to FB with obs. So i highlight myself on zoom and i have my camera on which shows my virtual camera and that's the same feed that both zoom & fb sees. nothing too complicated there.

that's about it... i never turn off my mac. I'm on a mac mini m2. it's my main working pc so it's basically always on but like i said every so often i'll get the issue that "the virtual camera can't be found) and haven't figured out why. i'll close obs one week not use it at all until the following week and then boom shows me that... i restart my pc and it's all fine after. What sucks is when im already on the zoom and i can't reset my pc anymore so then im stuck and can't use obs or anything.

i'll use obs thursdays but i don't use the virtual camera those days only on sundays; and i swtich my scenes on scene collection

Hi ! SI really need help I'm trying to setup my obs to make composition live on youtube. I use Musescore and I'm trying to stream via obs also I'm going to use a 3d avatar. After strugguling yesterday to put vseeface on obs (I didi it 🎉 ), now I have a totaly different problem and I can't find the solution since this morning. From gemini: Based on your OBS log, the capture froze because the macOS Screen Capture source was forcibly stopped by the operating system.
At 19:30:00, the log records a critical error:

This error indicates that macOS itself, not OBS, terminated the screen capture stream. This would have caused your capture feed to freeze instantly at that moment.
While the source froze, the OBS recording itself continued to run until you stopped it at 20:12:11, likely recording a static image or a black screen from that point forward.
The log also notes a very small number of lagged frames (0.1%), but this was not the cause of the sudden freeze. The primary issue was the external interruption from the operating system.

When i was screencapturing "parallel" on mac it sometimes had its screen capture frozen for no reason. Is this a known issue or is there anyway I can resolve this.

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max 2021, and a Sony A6100 camera. I’ve been trying for about a week to set everything up so I can record in 4K using my Cam Link. In OBS, the video looks great while I’m recording, but when I finish and play back the file, it looks blurry. In some cases, I can’t even open the file it says the format isn’t supported. Right now, I’m recording in the QuickTime format with the Apple VT ProRes hardware encoder set to ProRes 422.

I’m having an issue with OBS Studio on my Mac Mini, where my settings don’t always save when I relaunch the application. Every time I open OBS, I have to manually reconfigure my capture card video output and my webcam (iPhone) settings.
I’ve tried closing the program properly after setting everything up, but the settings still reset after restarting the app. Could you please advise on how to fix this or what might be causing OBS not to retain my configurations? Appreciate any advice.

When I try to set the background to green using macOS’s built-in background replacement feature in OBS, both the capture card screen and the external camera screen turn green. Is there a way to apply the background only to the external camera without affecting the capture card screen?

When I start OBS at least 50-100 Videos randomly beginn to run, without beeing visible, just in the background. Which pushes the the CPU immediatly to 97 %. I have to identify them among my 400 Videos and stop them ALL by hand one after another. Applied a Hotkey to ALL of them – does not work. Very annoying. If I shut them all down by hand and close OBS. Then reopen it, same or others are again running, CPU 97 %. Any idea, any solution to get rid of the problem? 🤬

no problem. It sucks, but then I have to spend 3 minutes to stop them all. Then it works fine. At least I found a hotkey for stopping, which should not be there. So it´s down quite quick. But if someone invents soming like "Stop all media", would be my hero. ;o)

Our church uses an ATEM mini to send audio and video to OBS on a mac book for streaming. The pastor inadvertently uninstalled OBS. I reinstalled it and got the audio set up but have been unsuccessful at adding the video.

this is caused by logitech's software. to fix it:

1. in Finder, navigate to "Go->Go to Folder..."
2. paste in the following and press enter: ~/Library/Application Support/
3. scroll down to the obs-studio folder and drag it to the trash

after that opening OBS should work fine

been trying to install a zoom transition into my obs studio, into my mac-os. It's installing successfully and eveeyrthing onto the computer itself but when i'm tying to run the zoom transitions in OBS , they don't populate as an option. ONly "cut" and "fade" is what i see

OBS Studio requires permissions from macOS to provide certain features. To grant them:

1. click on the OBS Studio menu → Review App Permissions
2. enable each of the permissions using the buttons on the right-hand side

• (a) click on OK/Allow for the microphone and camera prompts
• (b) grant Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions in System Preferences/Settings
  3. restart OBS Studio

It appears there is a bug in ver. 32.0.2 (64 bit) for Mac. The numbers in every field of the Output Timer cannot be seen, so the Timer is useless and it's really easy to set a Timer without realizing it because you can't see the numbers for hours, minutes, and seconds to know that there is a time in operation. I don't easy any way to report a bug, but it's been mentioned in the OBS Mac Forums. Now, please fix it.

Basically, I have a PS5 connected to Elgato 4K S and a Mac mini (M4). The video shows perfectly fine. The audio is set up through the Elgato and I can see the bars moving on the audio mixer for the game. However - I can’t actually hear anything in the recording. I can hear it very muffled at times though.

The other issue I have is that my desktop audio is not allowing me to monitor. I can only monitor the audio via a chat link pro - which is fine. But when that’s not connected I can’t hear the live preview unless I have Elgato studio open. Any help is appreciated.

Yes i have a python flask server which launches obs, established the websocket connection and performs few taks and on disconnect end the websocket and kill obs via the sctipt. So when i launch again the --disable-shutdown-check helps in avodiing the crash dialogue box

Yeah I think its related to Qts but i have followed the how to build for mac around 3 months back and it gave me a build perfectly fine with Virtual camera module. Now i am running into these issue sounds confusing

then something changed in your system inbetween. If you want to rely on self-building, and especially when doing it in an environment that isn't stable, you'll have to learn how to research and deal with those errors on your own, because they will happen

To help resolve your issue, we need to view a log file from a fresh launch of OBS Studio containing an output session. Follow these instructions to upload a clean log file:

1. Restart OBS Studio first!
2. Start your stream/recording replicating any issues (meaning having any games/apps open and captured, etc.)
3. Stop your stream/recording after 30 seconds or after the issue has occurred
4. Click the Help menu → Log Files → Upload Current Log File
5. Paste the URL into this Discord channel
