Hello, I have problem with OBS and virtual channels - i bought Rodcast DUO and now i want to separate audio with virtual channel which made Rodecast (i done everything here https://tv.rode.com/es/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii/virtual-devices) and my routing software can see that virtual channel, Discort see it too, but only OBS cant - they arent in Settings or in some sources for recording. Heya! i just wanted to check out whats this error is about onto the plug-in; It simply says that the reason that it was not lauched was because "The Image was not found"

I checked up on Github abt a fella that had a similar problem. It was simply because there was no version to MacOS yet, but the talk was back in 2020. I'm pretty sure that there is a very bigger chance of it now having a Mac version.

I'm not sure if it is this way on Mac, but try restarting the Mac to see if the virtual camera shows in Discord after that. If not I can give you something else to do

On macOS, some older Elgato capture devices may not be supported or require workarounds to use with OBS Studio:

Uhh, yeah i checked it out and it simply said it should be already working by the minute i clicked in the "Start Virtual Camera" (I'm on MacOS 11+)

I tried to delete the Virtual Camera plug in like it said there, but then the whole button just disappeard and wouldn't come back. Then, I just uninstalled and installed the App again to see if there was any configuration missing, but apparently there is none

1. In OBS Settings → Audio, set your Monitoring Device to the speakers/headset through which you wish to hear the source audio, then click OK

• Monitor Off: only hear in your stream/recording
• Monitor and Output: hear through your device and your stream/recording

Note: ensure you use a different monitoring device than any device you capture. Otherwise, your stream/recording will contain an echo.

I am using MacBook Pro 14” OS15.0 and video grabber Digitnow! USB2.0 Video Capture; I want to capture VHS video.

Really is an "old" device but to read VHS it's the only device available. Some tutorials show that it should work: the VHS device is listed in "proprieties". Suggestions?

If you end up looking for different hardware: a vhs/dvd recorder combo unit could be good, especially ones with an HDMI port that outputs the VHS content to the HDMI.

on macOS, everything goes through the videotoolbox API in terms of defining OBS's hardware encoding capabilities. so the question is more, "does apple support hardware encoding with AMD GPUs on modern macOS?" as i'm thinking about it, i've definitely seen some people with AMD GPUs in here doing hardware encoding, i.e. with older mac pro models. i do not know the full extent of what models and encoders are supported though, and i don't think apple publishes that information either

and as for how videotoolbox actually talks to the AMD encoders lower down in the stack, i have no idea :p

I have experience the same issue on my MacBook Pro 16” M1 Pro. CPU, GPU and Memory is all good (not fully used). OBS is reporting no dropped frames in encoding and rendering lag.
But the cam link 4K video feed is skipping some frames occasionally in the preview window and on the livestream on other platforms.
Activating buffering helps but over time video and audio will get out of sync.

Anybody know a solution to this???? (Issue appears on both OBS 27.2.4 and 30.?.?)

You need to go into your Sys Prefs (follow the instructions in the alert) and allow OBS to access your system. You need to add OBS to the Full Disc Access tab, then the camera can be installed. Thanks Apple Nanny State Overlords

I'm new at this too. You might try clicking on the apple icon at the top left of your screen and select "about this mac". Or look up the year of your mac online to see which one it is. I wish I could be of more help but I'm a newbie too!

Ok, if you open the window that says "about this mac", If you see a line that says "chip" and it's Apple 1 or higher, then it's silicon. If instead, it says "Processor" then it's Intel Processor.

Has anyone else using OBS 30.2.x on Sequoia ran across capture issues? As in the visual would just stop, showing a still image, video, or whatnot? Happens with any screen capture and browser source, forcing recapture or refresh for it to work again for another little while. Happens after, oh, 30, 45, maybe 60 minutes. With screen/window captures, depreciated methods seem to work, though video and audio tend to be slightly out of sync.

Just wondering if anyone mentioned it. I didn't see it here scrolling back (it's likely I didn't scroll back far enough).

Hello peeps!

I am new to OBS, after watching a lot of vids on youtube. I rub OBS 30.2.3 on an M1 max macbook pro with 32G RAM and a good 500G available storage. I use a USB hub to bring in video from a Logitech Meetup conference camera and my Canon R10. My issue is that frequently after setting up everything for church service OBS can crash and no amount of starting/restarting/rebooting of cameras gets video back. The only remedy that works for me is to delete the video capture sources and then add them back again.

This is irritating but OK before service but really a pain during service when OBS crashes - we lose livestreaming footage as all would guess. Any ideas on how I troubleshoot this?

the crash itself appears to be due to an issue in the audio code if you select a source for a now-disconnected audio device

so you may be able to work around it by making sure you only have sources for devices that are currently connected

i'm not sure how this would cause your video capture sources to be affected, but the crash at least seems to be due to that

I'm experiencing something similar to this https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/issues/5352 but haven't been able to reliably reproduce what actually triggers hotkeys to stop working. Reproduction instructions from that bug don't trigger it. Last time hotkeys stopped working I was able to regain them twice by mapping again. But not third time anymore. A few days (and OBS restart) later they were fine. I know it's not window focus, they first worked and then didn't independet of window focus. Also they worked fine without MacOS input special permissions (don't remember what they were called). I anyways enabled that just for the sake of it.

Also, what's that three beeps that OBS sometimes makes? It's not ending up in the broadcast, but comes from monitoring output.

i cannot think of any reason static noise would be present on your microphone only in OBS and not in any other program. you may want to double check in some program like audacity or garageband to verify that it definitely is not there on any channel. generally this sort of thing is almost always because the noise is actually there for the device; it would be very hard for OBS to introduce something like that.

the fact you mention both 1. a cheap dongle rather than a proper audio interface and 2. banging it on your desk on accident, makes me think that one or both of those are the culprit (and the static will be there for other programs) rather than any kind of OBS issue

does the interface provide only one channel, or does it provide multiple channels? and if there are multiple, did you check other channels besides the first one?

another way to check this- in OBS, you can click the audio source properties, and try unchecking "enable downmixing"

then you can try assigning the channels differently if applicable and seeing if the static disappears

Hello, everyone. Frustrating issue with a Video Capture Source resizing when I start some programs. When in OBS Studio, sizing is set to fill the frame. When I start Zoom and select OBS as my camera, my source gets resized to only take up a part of the canvas. WHY??? 😫😩

This is not limited to Zoom, BTW. Also happens with Teams or Web conference apps where I select OBS as the camera.

If I have understood correctly, you need to enable "hotkeys everywhere" from obs settings, give obs permissions in macos settings to listen keys when not focused and bind hotkeys that don't do anything else in other apps so that you don't accidentally trigger them.

Since today I am trying to get the "OBS-Zoom-To-Mouse" plugin to work on my Mac. I installed it without changing any parameters which should do it according to the tutorials. However, when using the zoom functionality it does not zoom to the position where my pointer actually is but somewhere else. In addition to that the "follow curser" is (kind of) jumping instead of smooth following.

Hi guys, we try to consume an obs stream (720x1280) through virtual camera using

Hello! I'm using the multistream plug in and the vertical plugin. For one scene I'm using both my macbook and iphone as sources and it's looking good.
For another scene I'm using only my iphone as a source and would prefer the camera feed to be vertical. I figured out how to change the canvas ratio in OBS to be 1080x1920. However the feed is still 1920x1080.
Also wondering if it's possible to have the default streams be in landscape/horizontal/1920x1080 while the vertical stream is portrait/vertical/1080x1920 at the same time.

I'm dealing with a somewhat complicated issue.

I recently switched from a Windows laptop to a Mac Mini M2 Pro base model. I edit video essays and use OBS to record movie scenes to include in my videos.

Although my Windows laptop is about six times weaker than the new Mac I purchased, the recordings on the Windows laptop are crisp and completely lag-free. However, when I record on the Mac with the same settings, the recordings look worse and are choppy, almost as if they were recorded at 18-20 fps. (I am recording in 60fps)

I've tried every encoder option on the Mac, especially the recommended Apple VT HEVC Hardware Encoder, but this one actually produced the worst results.

I'm using the latest version of OBS (the Apple Silicon version) and the most recent macOS (15.0.1). I also attempted to lower the bitrate from 50000 (I know it is high, but I really need the best resolution possible) to 2000, but this only reduced the resolution while the lag persisted.

I'm really disappointed because my workflow relies on OBS. I never expected that I’d have to do the recordings on my much slower Windows laptop and then transfer them to the Mac, which significantly slows down my work.

The recording log doesn’t indicate any issues, but it simply can't record a 1080p movie in 1920x1080 without lagging—it's not even in 2K or 4K.

The Game Capture source is made for Windows only and is not available on macOS. To capture games, you should macOS Screen Capture (macOS 13 and later) or Window/Display Capture (macOS 12 and prior).

my goal is to record a single window that's in full screen.
currenty, when I do that on macOS 15, I see in OBS the top window bar with the application name and other tools.
the app is in full screen, and that window bar is not visible to me. I would like it to not be visible in the screen recording. my current work-around is to use OBS to crop off the top 104 pixels. this seems fine, but now my "output" is 104 pixels too tall. how do I resize the output?

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing, as well as add custom browser-based docks here.

But I need to make some for IG and Tiktok as well

I just recently tried to stream on IG with my current configuration but nothing fit.

So I need to make a completely different set up.

I want to be able to keep what I have currently set up, and make an entirely new configureation for IG and tiktok without messing with what I already have.

Yes, you will want separate profiles and scene collections for your different streams. Profiles save different configurations of settings, including which site you will stream to. Scene Collections save different sets of Scenes and Sources. Both are used from the menus at the top of OBS. Very handy!

Hi! I want to do a screen recording in HDR and have it as similar to what I see on screen as possible: same resolution, colors, and brightness. If I go to the screen capture filter window I can actually see the source capture video looks correct.

I think the problem is that there's some kind of default HDR color mapping going on when it gets rendered to the scene that makes everything too dark and washed out.

If you want to get technical, I read that the MacBook Air 2020 is only capable of displaying some of the Display P3 color space and like ~110% of sRGB. So it's closer to SDR than like full rec 2020 HDR but I can definitely distinguish higher saturation in reds and greens.

The screen supporting HDR doesn't really matter if all the content is SDR. If you actually play HDR and capture that, you will likely notice that it's blown out (at least the bright white parts) in the recording (and the properties/filters previews)

All my content isn't SDR though. So I'd still like to screen capture in HDR because I want to edit in the screen recordings with HDR video I've recorded. It's fine if it looks brighter on displays that are capable of higher brightness imo I just don't want it to look too dark.

HDR content from YouTube and my own HDR videos looks great on this display, never had an issue with playing HDR video.

I think I can limit the max nits to make it not blow out the white values. Or I'll just edit it in Da Vinci Resolve later.

I’m having an issue using my Elgato HD60 S in OBS Studio. The device is recognized and works perfectly in the Elgato Game Capture software, but it doesn’t appear as a video source option in OBS.

I’ve tried adding it as a video capture device in OBS, but it just doesn’t show up in the list. Since it’s functioning in the Game Capture software, I assume the device itself is working fine.

Any advice on how to get OBS to recognize the Elgato HD60 S as a video source would be greatly appreciated.

i guess it's possible that the elgato card does not like the thunderbolt 3 cable, or vice versa, but that would be pretty bad luck, and i frankly would be pretty frustrated and maybe even try to get a cable refund from apple if that were actually the case. macs can be pretty finicky with third party cables and peripherals, but it would be pretty stupid that a first-party cable would not be compatible with something relatively normal like an elgato capture card

I have a MacBook Pro M1 Pro with 16Gb of ram and 1Tb of disk, I use an Elgato 4k Stick and a Sony ZV-E10. In the video settings there is only one option for the Frame rate so its for streaming and recording
