Hey @hard jay @untold jay I am using pop os and I have the nvidia-patch repo already installed, however, when I attempt to run the update command via flatpak I receive an error indiacting that nvidia driver 470.86 is not installed , but the flatpak-list command shows that it is installed... I cannot seem to find a way around this issue. I know you mentioned the proprietary nvidia drivers, is there some alternative place that I need to go to in order to install them? (I understand that because flatpak sandboxes apps and variables I have to download the drivers for them to be accessed; however I assumed that they were installed since driver 470.86 shows up in the flatpak-list command) . Honestly, I'm trying to solve this issue, because I managed to have this plugin properly work on the .deb version of OBS, but I am having no luck with the flatpak version. Meanwhile, my computer is screaming for help when I try to run god of war using XSHM.
Hello
Can anyone tell me how my screen activity is being streamed from iphone with out me knowing ?
What does this have to do with OBS?
Remote control.
!remote If you're talking about the plugin below, then I'm pretty sure that's not spying on you, if that's what you're asking.
If you'd like to control OBS Studio remotely, you have a few options.
To control from the web on any device (including phones and computers), use OBS Tablet Remote (requires obs-websocket).
If you'd prefer a mobile app that works like the Elgato Streamdeck, you can try Touch Portal, UP Deck, or Deckboard.
Commonly used one with iCloud drive
If your screen activity is being streamed from your phone without you knowing, you probably installed some kind of malware on your phone.

Any help based on the update above ^^^ with the NVFBC plugin. I know I initially brought it up a minute ago, but since the initial feedback last week I was finally able to hop back in and provide some more updates on the issue?
@craggy lava maybe logs would have something useful? i'm not sure if the nvfbc plugin is distributed as a compiled .so or as source code
Hey thanks for the help. Give me one second and I'll drop the logs. Let me go pull them from OBS real quick.
- No Output Session
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - OK! / GeForce RTX 3070 - OK!
@craggy lava it threw "this hardware does not support nvfbc"
that could be due to two reasons (possibly both):
- nvidia-patch wasn't installed correctly
- the plugin checks the gpu name and refuses to work, instead of actually trying to use nvfbc
if it's the former, try following the nvidia-patch instructioins again, see if you missed something; if it's the latter, you may have to dig into the obs-nvfbc source code to find the part that checks gpu name, change it to not check anything, and recompile the plugin
or, maybe you'll have some luck with older versions of the plugin?
Yeah I might have to do option two, because I have tried everything to install the nvidia-patch, yet when I try the ........sudo ./patch.sh -f....... command that's when I receive that funky error stating that the flatpak nvidia driver is not installed.. even though when I run the commands to check for it, the driver is indeed installed.
@craggy lava you're using a geforce card, which means nvfbc is blocked until you properly install nvidia-patch, but it seems that it fails to install
you can try asking for help on their github issues page, or install nvidia drivers through other means
Yeah I have been talking with the author over on the github page to see if they could help, I just wanted to hop back and forth between the two because I was unsure as to whether or not I was the only one experiencing this issue. Because I was able to install the patch for the drivers when I attempted to install this plugin via the deb version of OBS, but I am only running into the aforementioned issues with the flatpak version of OBS because I decided to scrap the deb version.
@craggy lava if the deb version works, why not use it?
I ran into some issues with installing the browser dock plugin.. I mean I figured it out and managed to get it to work ๐ but figuring out how to get that particular plugin to work with custom docks is where the headache came in. Meanwhile that particular issue was not a problem via the flatpak version. The only issue I am facing now is the NFVBC plugin :(. I have used XSHM in the meantime, but if it's possible to increase stream performance via the NFVBC plugin I figured I might as well give it a spin.
and well here we are my friend. Knee deep in the OBS discord pestering you with my issues on a Friday Morning. Nevertheless I appreciate you, and you're a real one.
@craggy lava i'll admit i never actually tried using this plugin with nvidia-patch on linux, i assumed it should work, but i should have checked when i had the opportunity to do so
i don't think i can offer any additional advice on this matter
On another note, do you know where flatpak plugins are installed? I've seen part of where the directory would be loaded via the /app/plugins/lib/obs-plugins/nvfbc.so mention in my logs, yet I cannot seem to find the actual folder containing them.
It's all good. I appreciate the help nevertheless. I'm just gonna see about editing the source code. But since I installed the plugin via popshop I am having some issues locating where it was saved at,
- MP4/MOV Recording
- Mismatched Sample Rates
- Unrecognised Encoder
- Windows 10 21H2 (OK)
- Windows 10 Game Mode
AMD Athlon 200GE - Below cpu encoding requirements / GeForce GT 1030 - Possible bottleneck
- MP4/MOV Recording
- Mismatched Sample Rates
- Unrecognised Encoder
- Windows 10 21H2 (OK)
- Windows 10 Game Mode
AMD Athlon 200GE - Below cpu encoding requirements / GeForce GT 1030 - Possible bottleneck
Where Can I Find CPU encoding requirements
We recommend a somewhat modern 4-core CPU to have usable x264 encoding speeds
or a GPU with hardware encoder
And How Do i Do That???
Well, you buy the parts or a new(er) computer
you can probably replace the Athlon 200GE with a Ryzen 3200G or 3400G
it's still not great, but will run OBS at least for 720p encoding
oh wow, an Athlon... haven't seen one of those in 10 years. Got a 4000 in my basement with a mobo with those leaky caps
Got a 6000 here in unopened box too.
They still use the branding for their low-end APUs
Ah, I didn't know the stack went that far down
thought A-* died off too
I have been googling and noticed a lot of people have asked, but no one has given a direct or correct answer. Is there a plugin I can download to add a live rss feed to my stream? Thanks in advance!
not that I know of. I would assume that is perhaps something people would have implemented in a browser already, and you can just use the browser source perhaps?
I tried that with the espn rss feed link, but that is just the source code.
If there is no plug in available, I will have to look for a browser that does have it. Thank you!
there are some dated scripts out there, but I havent tested them myself, and im not sure if they still work, or how easy they are to work with / implement
So here's a potentially dumb question since I'm a noob, how do I customize my alert for a raid or something like that?
ask your alert provider.
I'm using VirtualCam Plugin for Camera, Using 2 OBS's. 1 For Streaming and 1 for Recording. How can I remove the effects on the VirtualCam ( 2nd Cam )?
But keep filters on the main version?
Hi, looking to find a fix for this closed captions issue. Looks like I found one maybe.. Would it be possible to implement FIFO and vf_ccrepack into OBS to git good captions? https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/issues/4006
I can stream SRT to ffmpeg from OBS but when I do it with the captions plug in on, it works but gets a ton of "illegal cc_count" errors. ffmpeg build it libklvanc the best way to test.
Turn the plug in off, no errors
@mystic forum
Nested scene with filters on the scene instead of the camera. You can use the camera by itself where you need it, or the nested scene with filters where you need that. Alternatively using StreamFX Source Mirror
Yeh I tried Source Mirror. It uses the filters still
Did you remove filters from the camera?
It's pretty easy, you can use your camera plain, and have various scenes with the camera in them and completely different filters and switch between all of them or even have multiple on screen in another scene at the same time.
Source Mirror is much tidier where it can be used though.
Ward El
@wind ocean Are you using StreamElements for your Alerts?
Is there any indication that I turned on the recording while shooting a video? (i use translate)
good joke
as an example, I have an fps counter on the right side of my screen while recording
You asked if there is an indicator.
Or do you want an indicator somewhere else which isn't inside OBS?
Where is that indicator supposed to show?
Inside a video game?
There is the following.
I'm not sure if it is still work though because it's quite old.
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-studio-status-overlay-requires-playclaw.490/
Might be one of the ones you found
hey im having some trouble building libobs, could someone help me out?
this is the error im getting. I'm running Debian and I've installed avcodec-devel since there is no ffmpeg-dev package
are you following this? You got them all?
https://obsproject.com/wiki/install-instructions#debian-based-build-directions
ive done all of that and built obs from source and libobs from source but im still getting the By not providing "Findlibobs.cmake" in CMAKE_MODULE_PATH this project has asked CMake to find a package configuration file provided by "libobs" error.
I have included libobs with the following command
cmake .. -DLIBOBS_INCLUDE_DIR="../../obs-studio/libobs" -DLIBOBS_LIB="../../obs-studio/build/libobs/libobs.so"
unfortunately, I am going to fall short here. You could try asking in #development instead ๐ Assistance with building seem to be fine there @frigid kayak
Hi, just want to ask some question. Is anyone here can help me?
Coz I added an app extension called Marvel GEQ, it's a equalizer but it's not showing on my plug-ins
@reef vigil is that vst2?
vst3 requires obs studio music edition from, uuh, pkv and andersama, i think?
Yes
Can't find the Marvel GEQ
It's now showing.
Thanks.
Not only avcodec-devel, I think you also need to install some other packages... I'm not sure what debian provides but maybe avformat-devel, swscale-devel, avfilter-devel, etc.
Anyone know if there a plug-in to increase the amount of audio tracks you can have?
Hello all love the software I have version 27.1.3 and was curious how I know which plugins I have does the version contain all that is available to this point does the program give you a way to see the list of them
I am a new user
OBS does not have a plugin manager yet
The easiest way to see what plugins you have is to view your log
thanks I took a look at that just now so I see the list I guess if I can do what I need then should be good I just need to experiment some more so its kind of trial an error thing ? but are their any plugins that would be helpful right at that moment am I missing any basic operations that would be really helpful ?
no, there is no such plugin as far as I know. The only solutions I know of would involve multiple instances of OBS, or using a fork of OBS (OBS Studio Music Edition)
I think music edition is still only 6 tracks. But has 16 audio channels.
๐คฆโโ๏ธ you're quite right
That's OK. I only know that because ace corrected me for saying the same thing
keep in mind that you're making larger sacrifices tho. You wont have the latest updates, and you will potentially forego official support etc ๐
I think pkv said it was gonna be the last version too but don't quote me on that
I'm not gonna ping Exeldro directly, but wanted to tell him thanks. I thought I had lost/corrupted a scene collection and he just saved me LOADS of time, so thanks!
@crystal trellis no, you go in Tools > advanced scene switcher
aight
(not automatic scene switcher, those are different things)
did you close and reopen obs after installing?
dw ^^
ok I have it on
ouki, go in the "macro" tab
gotcha
and create a new macro with the + button
aight
the way macros work is that you give them a condition and when the condition is met, it'll do a specific action you set it to.
uh huh
so basically, this will be active for the first 0.1 seconds that you are on the scene "BRB-transit"
just in case, the first bit are the conditions, the second the effects
ah ok
so I have a stream starting screen
is there a way I can mute this indefinitely
or do I just set it to a really high number
the way I have done it will mute it "indefinitely", because once it has been muted, it'll stay muted till it gets unmuted
so you don't need to tell it to constantly be muting it
uh huh
actually if you do tell it to constantly keep muting it, and for some reason at some point try to manually unmute it while on this scene, you won't be able to, because it'll keep toggling it back to mute
so if I wanted to keep this scene muted indefinitely but unmute on the next scene
how'd I go about doing that
you create a second macro to unmute when you change from that scene to another
this time, if previous scene is BRB then unmute
and once again, with the "for at most 0.1 seconds" so that it stops forcefully unmuting it just after the switch
so I don't put it on "no time constraint"
no, that's a bad idea because if you do that, it'll be constantly checking it, and constantly unmuting it
and "at most 0.1 seconds" will keep that scene muted until I set another macro unmuted
so basically you lose manual control because if you try to mute it manually, it'll immediately unmute it right after
I see
or until you unmute it manually, if you want to
ah
is that not how you want it?
it might be how I want it
if it allows me to set another macro to unmute the next scene with no hiccups
and then automatically mute to another scene
you don't have to set one macro per scene
ah
for example here I have one that mutes whenever I switch to starting or ending screen
with the or, it'll catch both
and then one to unmute when I'm coming from those scenes
hmm
ok so lemme see if I can wrap my head around this
I set 1 macro to run the mute macro on the 4 scenes I want muted
You're dealing with an extremely powerful tool, this advanced scene switcher.
If you learn this you can automate just about anything.

yup, it's about in the range of "fucking incredible"
To me, it's beyond.
am old man
It literally killed my need for macros and websocket commands.
so learning computer stuff kinda goes over my head at times
The top half is "Conditions". They determine under what circumstances, the actions occur.
Bottom half is "Actions". They tell the program what to do. It fires 5x a second (at 200ms), and checks what you set.
Honestly, best way to learn it is to fiddle around with it. Try things on an empty scene.
well, one thing it still does lack is integration with chat ans similar stuff, but yee
Have fun. SO many possibilities.
lifesaver.
Just sad I didn't know about this tool earlier. Saved a lot of headaches
yup. don't forget to make a "mirror" macro to unmute when coming from those scenes otherwise you'll have to do it manually
And Warmuptill is honestly a legend. The amount of time and dedication, the instant replies to questions and the speed of updates/fixes. Top notch.
I'm still only using it for basic shit but yeah, amazing
I mean, you say "only" but if it stops you from accidentally forgetting to unmute going form Starting to > Gameplay scene, it's worth every second it took to learn it.
ok so
I mean, yeah, the facct this is "basic stuff" says a lot about that plugin
I've probably butchered it
It literally sets all audio for me - and changes VLC play lists - on the fly >.<
So good.
screenshow what you did - and say what you wanted it to do.
Under what condition?
looks fine to me
Okay, so.
Get rid of the 0.01 sec. thing.
At the top right, there's a "perform action only on condition change".
That'll make it so it doesn't fire over and over.
ooooh, didn't see that one
I've been last minute drafted into streaming a Fighting Game event
He added that to avoid people having to set a ton of time conditions. It's SUPER neat.
noice, ty for that linden
I'd probably check the button underneath too.
and I have 2 people on commentary and don't want the audio to quieten when I change scenes
So it mutes during transition as well - not when it's there.
Normally it doesn't trigger a "Im on Scene A" until you're on scene A. Even if you pressed it in OBS; because of transition.
This should never happen unless you set something. Audio is global.
If you want a specific audio feed muted (Say Microphone) on specific scenes; the above should work. Bare in mind it also mutes you.
I'd also recommend using "Set audio source" to 0%
thats fine
And add Fade over 2 seconds
Or 1 second.
Instead of hard muting it.
Fading is a higher production quality on streams than hard cuts.
Make sure that the scenes you want people to hear, has the opposite. So in-game has one that sets audio to 100% of those sources, when detected.
Instead of
And
Remove X, add O ๐
sorry man, I know you're trying your hardest
No worries.
but I'm very lost
Which part are you lost at?
I think just this once I'm going to bite the bullet and just roll with it and then come back when I have a bit more time and am not so stressed due to all this being last minute
Fair enough. Like I said; basics are important.
The top half are the conditions for what needs to occur for the bottom half - the actions - to take place.
Try and play around with it.
I understood that
Make sure the Active text is on, or nothing will work.
it's just putting everything into practice and trying to keep up
if I got time tomorrow or if you or any of the other gentlemen are available
I'll pop back in here and hopefully we start from the beginning
thank you ever so much for trying to help
I do truly appreciate both of you taking time out of your day
I have tournament most of tomorrow unfortunately. But if it's late and I see your msg I'll plop in. You're fortunate that there's a ton of people here that know a heck of a lot more than me though!.
So just make sure you detail your issues, and people are usually more than kind enough to help
i could be in the wrong channel but i use stream elements in combination with OBS.
every time i open OBS i got this cookie accept for the twitch chat
i hope somebody can help me out ๐

Hi all ๐ I am trying to connect mix it up with OBS but the websocket is not appearing in OBS, any idea?
!websocket make sure you use the installer (not zip)
OBS can be controlled remotely with the obs-websocket plugin.
if its still not showing up (remember to restart), please upload a log
I am using the installer
!clog please post the log then
A current log file is required to help fix your issue. Please post a link to your current log file.
- In OBS select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File.
- Click Copy URL and then paste the link here.
- Auto-Config Wizard
- 88.8% Dropped Frames
- Wi-Fi Streaming
- Mismatched Sample Rates
- Non-Standard Framerate
- Windows 10 20H2 (OK)
- Not Admin
- No Output Session
AMD Ryzen 5 3550H - OK! / GeForce GTX 1650 - OK!
@acoustic palm yeah, no websocket plugin in there :\
what usually happens in these scenarios is that there has been multiple OBS locations, or OBS has been moved after initial installation
and its not in there
the easiest way to correct this, is to properly re-install OBS.
This unfortunately means you will need to re-install any plugins. Is that okay?
so just reinstall obs and websocket should make it work?
- uninstall websocket
- uninstall obs (your scenes and settings will be kept)
- install obs (make note of where it gets installed to, dont change it)
- install websocket (make sure that path matches from step 3)
its better this way, cus you'll have this problem with every plugin installer until the OBS path is corrected in the registry
thank you!
so its a permanent fix ๐
I don't know what exactly happened but my Twitch chat dock always logs out whether I logged back in, closed OBS, and relaunched
A current log file is required to help fix your issue. Please post a link to your current log file.

!sehelp the streamElements.live plugin replaces our browser and some service integrations. You'll need to reach out to them for help with that @crisp spade
If you need help with StreamElements products or services, please join their Discord server or submit a support ticket as we cannot provide further assistance here.
ah, so it's SE's? I always use the default ones(?) that pops out whether I just logged in with my Twitch from my OBS
well, it dosent really matter what you choose to use. The plugin have replaced our stuff, so we can't support you (on the stuff they replaced) ๐
You could chose to remove it if you would like, but otherwise, you'll have to talk to them about it.
aaah, gotcha gotcha..
ya, now that you said it, it only happens when I updated my OBS to the beta builds and the SE plugin prompts a reinstall..
probably had the issue ever since and never noticed it, that makes total sense
thanks anyway!
yeah, pretty sure its not a good idea to run beta + se.live ๐
wait, oops, this isn't the windows support channel. sorry!
I think you picked the right channel, albeit it accidentally ๐ (cus se.live)
Are any of the contributors or developers for the "univrsal" input overlay plugin lurking by any chance? I reached out to @boreal hearth but I believe he may be AFK currently.
I am trying to fiddle with this plugin, however, I unfortunately am on a dual PC setup. From my understanding the installation needs to be done in the OBS folder which makes this a bit trickier.
I would advise against wildly pinging people, especially when there are very likely not the person you're trying to reach
I'm here I also accepted your friend request
as for installation, according to the github, there's an installer https://github.com/univrsal/input-overlay/wiki/Installation
That is the person I am trying to reach.
But I understand the desire to not be pinged. My apologies.
Thanks for accepting! Will move my obnoxious inquiries into your DMs ๐
Also side note, both of your responses to me were high key useless. That was in fact the user I was trying to reach & that installation guide is not of use for this particular question.. hence my question being posted.
Furthermore, "wildly pinging" is a poor description for my one singular @ ; I'll take my leave now.
my apologies
โค๏ธ All one big misunderstanding. Thanks for not biting my head off.
yeah, my apologies, I presumed too fast
I forgive you
Hey guys!
Need some help getting Instant Replay to work exactly how I mean it to.
Now, I've followed both Nutty's and Defrag's tuts on this and I got working with my streamdeck and everything.
My problem now is, I want the Instant Replay buffer to be -only- the gameplay, NOT everything else that's on screen.
Is this doable?
Probably with source record.
Hmmm right, as opposed to recording the entire thing. Hmmm Hmmm.
Thank you! I was about to ask hehe
hey im looking for a bit of software that can start both audacity and obs at the sametime
assuming default paths (change them if they dont match), you can just paste this into notepad -> save as "startBoth.bat" (with the "") ๐
start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\audacity.exe"
start "" /d "C:\program files\obs-studio\bin\64bit" "C:\program files\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe"
- MP4/MOV Recording
- 96.7% Rendering Lag
- Integrated GPU
- Mismatched Sample Rates
- Insufficient Hardware
- Windows 10 21H2 (OK)
Intel Core i3-6100U @ 2.30GHz - Below minimum requirements / Intel HD 520 - Possible bottleneck
heh, its okay ๐
Hey all new to the group and new to OBS. Thanks to YouTube and Google. I got alot figured out.
But what I'm wanting to do:
I have 3 video sources at one time.
I want to replay 1 of the sources that is not always live on the screen.
So far every time I try this. If I'm not on this camera it won't record anything.
Is there a way to reply a certain scene rather is on screen or not ?
Hi everyone, Iโve recently heard about a software, that is used if you donโt want to stream with headphones. Every sound, that leaves your speakers and may be recorded by your microphone is going to be hidden for OBS and the stream. I hope you understand, what I mean, Iโm not a native speakerโฆ Does anyone know the name of this tool?
@rustic patrol The only thing I'm aware of that might be able to approximate that is Nvidia RTX Voice, which requires a 2000 or 3000 series Nvidia GPU to work effectively (technically it can work on 1000 series cards using CUDA also but it is quite taxing on the GPU).
As impressive as RTX Voice is for removing background noise, it isn't completely flawless, and likely a certain amount of noise will get through and get picked up by the mic anyway, including other human voices you might be listening to via the speakers. I honestly don't think an approach like this will work out well with any degree of high quality.
Best to use a headset or wireless headset, or in-ear monitors
Can Source Record make a folder for it's output based on the date?
Ok, sad, but thanks. ๐
anyone know how to do twitter alerts on stream for when people like and retweet my stuff?
Hey guys! So OBS won't let me change settings.
I know this is probably because SOMETHING is running, like replay buffer or virtualcam. But I have stopped/turned everything off... What am I missing?
A current log file is required to help fix your issue. Please post a link to your current log file.
- In OBS select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File.
- Click Copy URL and then paste the link here.
- Wrong YUV Color Range
- Capture Interference
- Windows 10 21H2 (OK)
- Non-Default x264 Preset
AMD Ryzen 9 3950X - OK! / GeForce RTX 3090 - OK!
make sure all your source records are stopped too
To do that, I just disable the filter, right?
I believe so?
Yep that was it. Thank you.
Now if you don't mind, I have another one about the replay stuff.
I've got it working, except it's still showing more than just the gameplay.
I know this is because two different files are being generated in the replay folder, one is from the Source Record plugin and the other one is just the Instant Replay, right.
All I need to do now is point the replay source in the replay scene to the correct file, right?
Also the log anaylzer is saying I shouldn't have Game and Display capture in the same scene. I've always had it like this because certain games don't work with game capture and never had any issues...
If you haven't had issues, it should be fine
Thank you!
Right, so -now- I might be running into an actual capture issue. Source Record outputs a green video, as in, no content in it
Source Record has a lot of issues with it right now. The dev hasn't had time to take a look at it; I wouldn't recommend spending too much time trying to get it to work if it doesn't work right off the bat.
I personally fiddled with it for a long while and have come to the conclusion that there's a few too many small things with it at the moment that needs a fix ๐
Oh dang. Thank you!
Hmm but then to do what I'm trying to do, I could just set up a scene that ONLY has the gameplay sources in it, and use that as the source for the instant replay, right.
I tried instant replay that way, doesn't work. It glitches out the source record over time, and it ends up taking instead of 1.5 sec, 22 sec to save a recording.
And only way to fix it is to toggle untoggle the eye. But then it resets the hotkeys. So you gotta set the hotkeys again.
Like I said. I tried using it. The idea is incredible. But it's not functional yet unfortunately.
Dang. Ok thanks for looking into it!!!
I do agree that a tool like that plugin is severely wanted by a ton of people. And it's one of the most frequent things mentioned in this channel is "Source Record doesnt work with X Y Z" way.
Unfortunately, if a dev doesn't have time - or doesn't want to fix something - you can't make them. They have lives ๐
Yeah it's usable if you're recording the gameplay WHILE streaming, to edit later, right.
But the live replay...
Can be difficult to reproduce problems people have sometimes, especially race conditions and other transient issues, or things that only occur under specific conditions that might not occur on the dev computer etc. too. Been there, done that 1000 times. ๐
hi, is it okaa to give this plugin suggestion here?
is there a lua script or a plugin, for auto renaming newly created sources? dunno if it's possible to make it happen with websockets and lioranboard. but was thinking of an different way than that~
so for users who go through the process of sort their sources and scenes. i believe this can save time~
for example-
lets say Scene 1 is named BS - Browser Sources
so sources made under this scene (no matter wut kind / or if it is possible to give it for just browser sources/ or specific kind ( that would be good too) would be named like
BS - Browser Source 1
BS - Browser Source 2
BS - Image Source 1 ( here let's sayBS - {default source name}then it would appear like this for any sources~
etc
if it was possible to determine which scenes you want to auto rename and stuff that would be cool too?
so, like, automatically change the default name when creating a source?
yesh
well, that sounds like something that's perfectly doable to me, only problem is there being someone who has incentive to make such a plugin.
yesh that's true~ but yea i hope someone does~
Interesting idea.
If its just green, its likely because you're using "nvenc (new)". Zero copy wont work in this instance, so you would need to use the one thats just called "nvenc"
One question: a few hours ago, I activate the 2FA in Twitch. But now the stream statistic dock is disappeared. How can I get it back into OBS?
view > docks > twitch stats
Unless you're in the RC version, then just Docks
ooh, fancy
yeah XD
Wouldn't you just have to sign out and back in again?
I tried, but there aren't anymore those Twitch things, although my chat is still in OBS
sign out then sign back in
File > settings > stream and reconnect your account.
Ok, that worked. Thanks for the tipps
What is the name of the Plugin that is used to set a time for each "media" to stay on your screen?
possibly Advanced Scene Switcher
for obs what do i add as the connections like mic camera gameplay etc
if i want to record a video
@oblique yew
For a guide on the various sources and how they work in OBS Studio, see our guide here: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Sources-Guide
Trying to install the streamfx exe and it doesnt appear to have done anything
@grand trout the streamfx plugin installer tries to autodetect where obs-studio is installed; if you tried installing obs-studio more than once, you may have the wrong path written to the registry, you can perform manual installation from the zip release, or uninstall and reinstall obs-studio to fix registry paths
Is it possible to uninstall and reinstall OBS without losing any scene info?
@grand trout yes, scene collections will stay unless you choose to remove them
Uninstalled and reinstalled. Ran the exe and it worked. Thank you
Beware that some plugins will have their information reset in the Scene Collection if you open the Scene Collection without having the plugins installed.
So always back up your Scene Collections when uninstalling things.
Yep. Backed up the collection before installing just in case
Good practice ๐
Hmm, didn't that bug get fixed at some point? I could be wrong but thought they said that was fixed.
Definitely a good idea to backup everything as often as possible, even before blinking though. ๐
Hello. Is there a way to get the debug logs of a custom dock Html ?
Nah, literally just ran into it with 27.2 RC1 ๐
To expose Chrome Dev Tools for your browser sources, add --remote-debugging-port=1234 to your OBS Studio shortcut (where 1234 is your preferred port number) and navigate to http://localhost:1234/ in Chrome to connect to the session
It is funny though, Transition Table and Adv-ss has wastly different experiences with it. TT remembers some of the transitions, and for some reason pulls in all sources and sets them to cut, where-as Adv-ss simply loses all memory.
I asked the dev about it and it's apparently because if the plugin isn't there on save (shut down of application) to set the information, then nothing is set.
Many thanks
Ok now I know what is wrong with my custom dock...
Is it possible to read local files from a custom dock ?
I get the error: Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'file:///C:/foo.txt' from origin 'null' has been blocked by CORS policy: Cross origin requests are only supported for protocol schemes: http, data, chrome, chrome-extension, https.
Ah yes, CORS policy. I didn't spend the greater part of a week dealing with that.
It's this really annoying thing that browsers implemented, that makes locally using files a pain in the butt.
Ultimately; I ended up getting us a remote server to host all files on - to then pull them back in as a browser source.
It's stupidly overkill in my world, but then again.
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
security is always honest people
Not sure why CORS policy is active locally though. A lot of these things don't accept "localhost" as a header.
It's just a pain. But maybe if you know more than I do, it's simple to get around.
Hi all! I'm a bit confused about how to setup my dev environment for plugin development. Is there a recommended way? Like, for example, would I start coding my plugin in plugins/my-plugin of the cloned obs-studio repo? I'm currently on Windows.
Because the "Get Started for development" page on the GitHub wiki only seems to be for modifying obs-studio itself, from what I understand
#development probably can help you ๐
Ah damn, sorry! thx!
Has there been an update to OBS source record recently?
there was one on saturday
is there a changelog I can find for that? ๐
the forum resource should have a changelog
ty
has there been any improvement on it? Last time I tried using it, my recordings would stop automatically :/
have you reported your issue to the plugin developer?
There's a plethora of issues with it unfortunately. I wouldn't get my hopes up, this seems to have been an external update.
classic discord google :P
using discord people as your research gophers
generally speaking it's recommended to report those things on the appropriate thread
I mean I kind of assume I would get a quicker answer here than reading a 6 month old forum :p
It's one of, if not the most, inquired plugins.
you might get a quicker answer but it's more likely to be low quality
SLD is indeed SLD ๐
it's definitely not called that anymore :)
anyway
the forum thread is active
You'll probably find a better answer there
SOLVED:
I maybe misunderstood what tacks mean vs the source selector. I went into advanced audio properties and saw everything was set to every track. I unchecked everything from track 1 except Line In, and set this plugin to track 1, now I am ONLY getting my game audio and no mic!
Edit...
Kinda hope they would've played nicer with OBS considering they took a load of open source code, monetised it, and called it original.
But this is the plugins chat not politics in the streamer world
Thanks for the link, I'll do my digging ๐
Anyone familiar with the commandline tool OBScommand.exe ?
I want to update a browser source url with adding the equal symbol "=" in the url with parameters and I cant figure out what escape code I can use with obscommand so it doesnt parse it.. any suggestions?
@mortal holly uhhโฆ what does this photo have to do with #plugins-and-tools?
Nothing I am sorry I am new
I am seeing a bunch of plugins for windows. Is there anything for the Mac or Linux?
Hi! I don't have the fastest internet connection. Satellite. I started streaming on Trovo. The bitrate is around 500 kb/s. Then I found some plugin on OBS on the Trovo website (or on the links from it). After installing it, the bitrate increased to 5000-6000 kb/s and never dropped. I was happy. Yesterday I reinstalled Windows and the bitrate is low again. And I don't remember where I found that plugin. I've already searched the entire Trovo website. there is no him. Tell me, maybe you know what plugin I'm talking about. I will be grateful for your help.
lot of plugins are compatible with mac or linux. it'll be precised on their page on the forum
What is the name of the plugin that controls the amount of time a media stays at the screen? It's similar to image presentation, but i can put a specific amount of time for each media, not one for every media
Does source record take up alot of CPU resources?
@kind saffron that depends on what's your idea of "a lot"
it's approximately as heavy as running a second obs-studio instance, give or take, but more convenient
zero-copy nvenc is not available, which hurts performance somewhat if using nvenc, but it's also inherently a bit lighter than actually running a second copy of obs-studio
yikes I want to have a recording or buffer for ONLY my gameplay and only webcam separate but if thats the case i might as well just switch and use stream labs selective record
@weak escarp did you have an opportunity to take a glance yet?
pretty sure thats going to be exactly the same thing performance wise. There is no magic, and if you want to separate encodes, then thats what it takes. Using hardware encoders can pretty much save you any CPU load, except copying the frames (and possibly scaling)
@kind saffron is this a joke? i benchmarked streamlabs obs' performance and it's eating at least 3x more cpu, and that's without selective recording
I did take a look at it and tried to replicate it in my debug environment. Was not able to replicate it yet.
Anything I can do to help?
could provide you with teamviewer id/code if you want to have a look at my environment
Hello everyone, I recently tried to build the FDK AAC plugin for OBS using Github CI with help from a friend. The script he provided need to compile the full OBS from source code, but all I need is obs-libfdk.dll obs-libfdk.pdb and locale files. I'm wondering is it possible to compile the files that are needed only. And is it worth the effort? The script is https://gist.github.com/Sg4Dylan/ef52532651e418031088002de97ae69d
I would appreciate a help here
Is there a way to theoretically record two video files, with different settings, in OBS? IE recording in 2k and one in 720p
maybe try source record
hii! Is there any way that when users enter an exact command, it can be displayed as a kind of log of recent events (commands) on the screen. As if it were the followers logs??
Source Record plugin is the only direct way as mentioned above. Indirectly, running multiple instances of OBS and using full screen projector previews of whatever you want to record, then capturing it in the other OBS. If you want to record multiple identical videos at different resolutions the best way to do that is to record one in high resolution then use Handbrake or some other program to transcode it to a lower resolution after however.
hii! i install obs ndi, i restart my pc but it dosent appear in ,,tools,, , i try to reinstall obs and obs ndi but the problem persist.
Hey guys, anyone here use the streamlabs live plugin? is there any reason to use that over just using obs studio?
I think you mean the streamelements plugin
And that's really up to you, take a look at what features it offers and see if it's something you think would be useful.
Oh youre right my mistake, hmm it seems like it could be good, ill try it since i dont see any reason why it would be bad per say
Ive just always been warry of downloading extra things such as mods/addons/plugins for apps
I'd make the general recommendation that if you don't know what problem something is solving for you, it's probably best to just avoid it.
I may have created a problem with the OBS Plugin Folder in the main program. Is there anyway to return the folder to factory settings and start over short of removing and reinstalling OBS Studio completely?
Only by going into the folders and manually deleting any files that do not ship with OBS Studio, and modifying any files that have been modified, restoring them manually back to their original state. Presumably you don't know what files have been modified, added or removed though so this is most likely not possible. So the short answer is: technically yes. Long answer is: practically, no
Not sure what you'd save though, it literally takes maybe 1-4 minutes max to uninstall OBS and reinstall it.
even on a slow computer
Hello all ! I'm new to the community, OBS plugins, and working with git as well (the triple whammy). I'm currently contributing to some work from a current plugin repo on git. I believe I have updated and edited the scripts in which I needed to fool around with, but now I'm completely lost on how to "build" this particular plugin. If anyone has some free time to chat about this, or has a link to some current build information (the plugin began about 4 years ago however) please let me know .. Thanks!
Can I ping you, @quiet bramble? I saw your comment on https://ideas.obsproject.com/posts/368/video-assist-features .
Looking at some articles on the web, false color is defined between -10% to +110%. I'm wondering less than 0% and more than 100% can be handled in OBS...
hey, which plugin in particular are you talking about?
@wary escarp github.com/fenrirthviti/obs-virtual-cam
I forked off of that to alter it with these changes.
Github.com/prefixwiz/obs-virtual-cam
Fenrir's fork of that plugin was only for testing purposes as OBS was integrating a native virtualcam and is no longer maintained. If you really need to, I'd look at the original plugin: https://github.com/CatxFish/obs-virtual-cam however, that isn't maintained anymore either
@wary escarp agreed. However what I needed was more than 4 virtual cameras. With obs new native virtual cam, you can only create one.
I'm not 100% sure what the diff was between the original and the fork. I thought the fork added more cameras. I may be wrong.
But after adding the necessary changes I'm a bit lost as to how to build it.
the fork did not add more cameras if I'm seeing this correctly
unfortunately, I personally can't help you with building on Windows
Ok thank you!
I had to reinstall OBS, my mods are gone. But the files for their properties still exist, if I reinstall the mods, will it begin working again?
Probably not.
Most plugins break if you open a Scene Collection, and close it again - while not having the specific plugins.
Because they don't get to open their data, and thereby properly save their data on closing.
If you reinstall OBS; make sure you get your plugins as well before you open your Scene Collection again; or backup your scene collections.
I had to uninstall SE and the how to said to reinstall OBS.
This is not to say it's the case for all plugins. Specifically filters I don't know if start working again if you have had the Scene Collection open.
I need the Spectraliser and Stream FX again, that's what I remember
Try and install Stream FX; close OBS; open OBS and see if whatever you set up works again.
Ok, the Spectraliser too
I know Transition Table & Advance Scene Switcher at least will break and lose/default their data if you don't have them installed upon opening/saving Scene Collection.
Reinstalled them, though StreamFX isn't loading or anything
You installed StreamFX with installer, while having OBS in default installation location?
Is it visible in tool bar?
Shouldn't make a difference. It means StreamFX was installed in wrong place if it does not appear. Is your OBS in C:\Program Files\obs-studio ?
Yea
Does C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit contain StreamFX.dll & StreamFX.pdb ?
No, though the installation thing said it was going there
Try to figure out where it installed it, and move the files to their proper location.
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins need to have the folder StreamFX moved there as well, don't forget.
I'll just reinstall it
Yea it went somewhere else
I can't change Stream FX's install location, or the Spectralizer, they keep going to the two versions of OBS I have
I have two because of a bug that happened in a previous update
Now I ain't sure what to do
would be nice with some kind of plug-in manager in obs
i hear that one is being worked on
nice
These two plugins won't work together, but before today they did
I don't understand how to fix this
StreamFX is trying to install into a folder that doesn't exist, doesn't give me the option to change it
Neither the Spectralizer or StreamFX are installing right
What happens when you press "Back"?
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
Stops installing
I thought it was gonna give you options...
Let me pull up the StreamFX installer myself real quick
I downloaded these today, from the same website I got them previously
Hmm. It does show me a window where I can change the installation folder ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Link to where you got yours?
Hold on, I'll try to find it
Thanks
I just wish I hadn't bothered with SE, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. The uninstallation guide I found for SE never mentioned there was an uninstaller
Pretty sure I downloaded it from here: https://github.com/Xaymar/obs-StreamFX/releases/tag/0.11.0
Which file? Cause I got the EXE last time
most plugins that have been installed (but not properly uninstalled), will write a note to remember the location it was installed in.
That means that if you would like to modify the install location you would need to properly uninstall the plugin first.
As for the path that auto pops up for OBS is based on the registry, and usually gets updated when you install OBS. If you've moved (or have old shortcuts), its probably a good idea to make sure it all points at the default location (and run the OBS installer again to point to the right location).
Oh
I've fully uninstalled OBS
Multiple times today
Well, I got it to show by running the StreamFX installer, closing it while it was installing, and then running it again
Maybe that's all you need to do?
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
dosnt work for me ๐ I need to completely uninstall it to be allowed to change the path
I've done that though
alright, then hopefully the correct path for OBS is now updated, and properly uninstall should bring it back to the right location
mind if we check the location?
stuff to make note of:
- Shortcut (for the icon you use to launch OBS, make note of where it points to)
- OBS location (make sure it matches the above)
how do you know its not launching an OBS that is installed somwhere else, instead of the Z:\obs?
I would still check the shortcut you use
Idk where the shortcut is
how do you start OBS?
I think you should unpin it
I've always had it pinned
This surely can't be why the Plugins refuse to install in the right place
there is no good (easy) way to check where that one points to
perfect. Unpin the one on your taskbar
and drag that one down after having checked where it points to
right click > properties
Hi everyone. I bought a Loupedeck Live. For it to integreate with obs, I need to install the websocket 4.9.1 plugin. The moment I do that, obs crashes at start. I run an M1 iMac and Streamelements SE.live. The moment, I delete the websocket folder from Application Support, it runs flawless again. I'm not sure, what I can do.
@elfin nova excellent ๐ Please remove the one you have pinned, and pin this one
did you install streamFX already?
No
alright, go ahead and install it
Because it keeps pointing to a file that doesn't exist
make sure to take note of the path it shows
Its still trying to go to a file that doesn't ffing exist
alright, we're gonna need to uninstall StreamFX first
control panel > add/remove programs -> streamFX -> uninstall
Its not even installed
it is. Or at least the reg keys are still present
so it was never properly uninstalled
yeah, thats pretty unfortunate
yeah, but fixing this is going to involved either something really silly and convoluted,
OR something thats a bit scary
What do you mean
have you interacted with the windows registry before?
Just say it instead of eluding to it
What
No
What I don't understand is, why is StreamFX not allowing me to change where its going
if you make a folder called OBS 27.0.1 on your Z: drive, will it let you proceed with the installer?
because the installer believes its already installed
cus it was never properly uninstalled
OBS got uninstalled and took it with it
kind of, but seems to me like the folder was also move/renamed. Thats kind of besides the point. Dosent really matter what happened, we just gotta fix it
Reinstalling StreamFX to that place, then going to the file to regrab the uninstaller worked
so yeah, safest/easiest is probably to just try to install it to the incorrect location, and then uninstall it afterwards
nice ๐
once uninstalled, the new installation should automatically point towards the correct location
There is a guide out there on how to uninstall StreamElement's plugin, that caused all this
!se this one?
To cleanly remove SE.Live:
- Uninstall SE.Live
- Uninstall OBS Studio (make sure that "User Settings" is not selected)
- Install OBS Studio again from https://obsproject.com/
Your settings will be saved unless you have selected to delete them during removal.
Because it was never stated there was an uninstaller for that specific plugin
Yes
That guide is BS
Because SE comes with an uninstaller
I only found out after
I think its implicit. Uninstalling stuff means going thru the "normal" method of uninstalling it (ie the uninstaller)
If I had known the uninstaller existed, I wouldn't have needed that guide above
The guide should tell people the uninstaller exists
so you think its should be added to step 1: Use control panel > add/remove programs > uninstall se.live?
yeah, that could be valid
No, I think it should be Step 1; Find the SE Uninstaller that came with the program
yeah, that is what this means
Because I could have used that and not broken everything in the process
no, you would have still had to uninstall OBS
because we have no guarantee that the se.live uninstaller will place the correct files back
yeah kind of. We have no control over what their uninstaller does, and it needs to replace OBS system files
Ah
That makes sense now
Honestly, this is all more so because of the Streamlabs hack that happened yesterday
I finally wanted to replace my chatbox browser sources and stuff from Labs to Elements
But it was too complex
Thank you
my pleasure. I'm sorry, I know this was quite a pain ๐ A set of very unfortunate events, made this quite difficult to remedy. Thank you for your patience

Not sure where this goes; but any body know a site/browser source to show poll results?
Will I have to input the new poll everytime?
You use the site to do polls. Add browser source. It changes the browser source.
A lot of people use strawpoll
My code uses an IRE scale for false color I found via Google and mapped the IRE values to appropriate brightness levels in OBS. IIRC, I wasn't sure whether it should be linear or perceptual so I added a toggle between the two. I don't have the shader easily available at the moment though sadly (it's on a currently dead PC).
I color sampled the standard colors that are used I believe, or found color codes for them, I forget which. I used some sample input+false color found online to compare the results of my shader with similar results. I consider it experimental as I never found solid documentation on any specific standardization details, and intended to do further research though.
I believe this was the IRE color scale I used for my implementation, although I don't remember how I handled out of range areas, I think I just ignored them as they're basically impossible inputs as far as a shader is concerned.
Mind you, it wouldn't be difficult to change the code to handle out of range if someone had some way for it to exist, such as via previous shader processing generating out of range color.
Could scale such input into the valid representable range also.
Hey guys , i really need your help on this one , can somebody find the link for this spotify plugin ? i've used it in the past but wiped my entire pc and didn't saved the link
would be greatly appreciated tysm in advance
was it Tuna?
nah it was a browser source , someone give me the link but i'm not in touch with him anymore so :/
it was customizable tho idk if this might help ( on the website directly )
If they gave you the link in Discord, try using the search feature to find it
they gave me the link on their stream a while ago vod is not up anymore i guess so yeah it was kind of my last option to come here lmao
Could try searching Google images with the crop above, or crop out the part with text to see if Google finds a partial match
yeah i guess i'll try that ! ty for giving me this option ๐
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
Thank you. I'm sorry to hear about your PC has dead. I have already implemented zebra so that the false-color should be similar but just need to have several if-else-if lines in the shader. Currently I just ignore non-linear conversion and treating as linear. Maybe I need to do something.
https://github.com/norihiro/obs-color-monitor/pull/32 (This is not released mainly because front-end UI has not been implemented yet.)
Yeah, I think I just used an if block
Do you remember what color space you use?
I believe I sampled the colors from the above chart and embedded them in a palette array
I meant how the luma value is calculated from RGB.
BTW:
float y = +0.212600 * rgb.x +0.715200 * rgb.y +0.072200 * rgb.z;
->
float y = dot(rgb, float3( 0.212600, 0.715200, 0.072200));
I'm using the same luminance primaries as you above (709)
With a gamma on/off toggle for luminance/luma as I wasn't sure whether that was needed or not.
Thanks, I didn't know about dot. Maybe dot should be a little faster.
yup, minor optimization
If there is any developers out there who would be able to work with me for about an hour, please send me a message. Its in reference to a plugin that I've already edited, but I would like to understand a few more things about it. Thanks!
Ok thanks!
It would be helpful if you can provide a little more details. Each developer has different strong and weak points. For example, someone is good at browser, another one is good at shader.
Good point. So, Ive edited the old plugin for OBS-Virtual-Camera. I know there's a native one, however I would like to understand specific ui components.. more specifically the start and stop of the stream itself.
Guys!
I'm trying to animate an image mask... Move Value filter doesn't work with it.
Anyone got any ideas?
Yep, the Dynamic Mask filter from the StreamFX plugin, depending on exactly how you're hoping to animate it.
Actually there are 2 ways, one is with Dynamic Mask, and the other is with an animated GIF mask with the Image Mask filter (yes, they can be animated!)
If you explain your usage case in more detail I might be able to give more specific recommendation/advice.
Thanks for the speedy reply!
So I tried Dynamic Mask.
It doesn't work, because that one is about the RGB levels, right.
So it's messing with opacity.
What I need is for the image mask to kinda follow what the move animation is doing to the webcam
This guy is doing it in his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19CxvN0zjgQ&t=319s
Ironically, he explains a different effect but I wanna know how he's doing the one in his webcam in the video, lol
It almost looks like the mask is always there, but when the webcam is fullscreen it's scaled up so that the mask is outside the stage. That's what I want.
Except I can't do that because the webcam is 1920x1080 and so is the stage, if I was to stretch the webcam past the bounds to get the rounded corners out, it'd ruin the resolution, right?
@true atlas Andi explains it all here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtmlIAfqBT4 his rounded corners are not a mask they are an effect which is animated using the move transition.
Hello everyone, i am using the vlc plugin to render some video on OBS. There is a VLC functionality - next frame (ctrl+E) which displays frame by frame on VLC media player. How can i replicate this functionality on OBS using VLC plugin?
Thanks in advance.
VLC source does not support it @sweet abyss
Ok, I looked at that and that's not a mask, he's almost certainly using OBS Shaderfilter's rounded_rect.shader and border.shader along with move-transition's move-value filter to animate the shader properties on transition.
(and source transform)
@dark sapphire is it possible to use obs_source_media_set_time function to skip it to the next frame time?
Hey, I submitted a new resource on the forum last week and it's still pending approval. Is there an estimated time of when those things usually get approved?
@mortal harbor you can ask forum mods about it
I didn't get a response, unfortunately.
OF COURSE!!!!
Damn, amazing. And it saves me the trouble of making the damn PNGs.
Thank you @whole karma and @quiet bramble , you legends!
hi ! , i need some help with Advanced Scene Switcher , i have a 9 seconds transition and use advanced scene switcher to switch from a placehold scene to the actual scene at 8.5s but the scene jumps when i set the timer to that
cna you show me the macro you set up
ok, so only the gaming_t to gaming isn't working?
no all of them xd
if i keep it at 8.5seconds they jus jump to scene without finishing the transition
Guys, here's a weird one.
Can I flip the camera on my preview but NOT to the stream?
Or vice-versa?
well, how long is the transition?
9 seconds
so it's normal that if you put the transition to happen after 8.5 seconds, it won't have time to finish the 9 seconds transition, no?
yea i was thinking if it was possible for it to switch scenes without interupting the transistion
that way it will switch to the right scene before the reveal
i'd like to know if thats possible or if there's anything i can do to pause of the stuff in the scene from playing till the transition was finished
so if I understand well, the _T scenes have something that plays for 9 seconds, and at the end of those 9 seconds, you want them to switch to the "actual" scenes, right?
no no the _T scenes have filler in them and the actual scenes have some animations in them that need to play after the transition is over
what happens normally without the _T Scenes is that the Animations play during the transition it self
with the _T scenes it adds a buffer that stops the animations from playing during but the switch between the _Ts and actual scenes isnt seamless
can i add videos here ?
the animations themselves, what kind of sources are they, media sources?
ok, and so basically what you want to happen is that when you switch to a scene, nothing happens during 9 seconds, and after 9 seconds, the animations start playing?
yup
but the scene (or at least part of it) will still be visible during those 9 seconds, right?
its visible at like at 8.5 seconds when the reveal happens
but you don't want the animation to start playing at the 8.5 second mark?
yup
its a reveal from the mid
and the animations happen at the edges
so it needs to happen after 9seconds
ouki, gimme 5 I'll show you a macro, and you'll tell me if it's as you want it to be
this will basically restart your media source when you have spent 9 seconds on the scene.
The idea is to ditch the _T scene, just click on the scene to transition to it, and when the transition is finished, the media source will start playing from its start
try this, tell me if it looks good
if the media source actually needs to be hidden before that 9 second mark, you can also do that with a macro
seems like it except the time, why did you put it at 10 seconds?
(I mean, best way to check is to try it and then change it so it's seamless)
9 seconds was cutting it off again
so, like the animation was already started when the transition finished?
oh yeah, also put "for exactly", not "no time constraint"
thnx
also you probably want to fine tune the time if 9 seconds isn't cutting it right
2 more help
smol ones
yea i changed it to 8.5
8.5 was perfect
where can i learn more about this plugin ? any videos ?
and do u know how to change OBS Scene Font Size i remember i did it before i forgot how
it does have a wiki though it's not entirely complete :
https://github.com/WarmUpTill/SceneSwitcher/wiki
honestly best way to learn is to fuck around and find out
but basically, it can do everything
except presumably coffee
but I'd wager it's coming soon
coffee ?
that was supposed to be a joke, dw
ah its hard to tell , people name functions over random stuff xD i thought it was some function
dw lmao
i dont suppose anyone knows of a clapperboard which works with obs ? or a way to mark a sync in audio ?
thnx again and anything about changing font size of scene names in OBS ?
what do you expect said board to do in obs?
i always clap after starting the recording and use that in post to fix any synch problems
They're just an inanimate object, they don't connect electronically to OBS or anything. Any clapperboard used properly will work, or even just using your arms or 2 blocks of wood etc.
not that I know of, sorry
Amazon sells dozens of them if you want a proper board, they're like $20 or so
or u could jus clap like i do its free xD

like a LOT , i was struggling with this for 2 days
It's mostly a tool for when your video footage and audio footage are recorded by different devices on different mediums and you need to synchronize them.
this
๐ pleasure
"Don't do that" isn't particularly helpful to someone who has a use for this.
"haha have you tried not having issues"
@vale blaze
a bit more info is needed
welp xD if he replies we can try to help
no no i dont have the problem @vale blaze has it
Hey guys, do you know by any chance if there's a way I could set up OBS in such a way as it automatically determines microphone input sensitivity by using the same method as Discord?
No matter what filters or VST plugins I add, I can't get it as good as when discord does it.
(this is with krisp disabled by the way)
not sure where to post but i need help setting up game with stream avatars stream avatars po up but i cant get game capture to work can anyone help or send me a right direction have been looking everywhere all day and cant find soloution
solution
we disable that here
trust me when I say pinging 173 thousand people won't make someone help you more quickly
If you need help or have questions about OBS, check out our #support-portal first!
im sure out of those 173 thousand someone with some kind of help will answer...
that's not even an obs support question
is why i said not sure if posting in right spot.,.....
yes it is, they asked about the game capture source ๐
and what about the other 173 thousand who don't want to be disturbed? ๐
oh might have misunderstood what they meant
cross that, re-reading it I have no fucking clue what they mean
basically, the stream avatars part can be ignored
not sure why stream avatars work as game capture in specific window but game in specific window wonnt work at same time it one or the other no both for me
or vise versa one will work or the other not both even if game capture is transparent
thank you guys for trying to help im at a loss after readin all day about it and nothing
you're using a vtuber, capturing it with game capture and capturing a game at the same time won't work?
no little guys running on bottom of screen
oh, then no fucking clue
when a viewer joins a little character pops up on bottom allowing them to battleroyal adn such with other viewers
lol
me either ive been watching and reading everything i can find and still no fix
is there any plugin to add new browser to browser sources? or maybe a new browser source with another browser. seems like obs's one does not load css keyframes and animations
obs 27.2 updates the browser from chrome 75 to chrome 95
it's currently in release candidate stage, meaning it's close to being ready to push to everyone
cool! then is worth waiting. thank you.
Hi there, I am currently using the win-capture-audio v2 plug-in and I have a question. The plug-in does not work on the Xbox party chat, when I select it to the Xbox app it wonโt record it. Is there any way to fix it? Thank you for your time.
Good morning - Are there any tools to take gif images and manipulate them in 3d space? I want to be able to move one side of a gif image along a z axis to basically fake posting it on my wall in video as a painting.
StreamFX gives you 3d transform/corner pin

Thank you @vale vine - This is a plugin for OBS?
Perfect @vale vine - Thanks a bunch ๐

how does nohboard work how do i increase letter size how do i change fonts how do i properly change the layout
why is my settings tab different from the ones in all the tutorials
also pls @ me if you respond so i come back to the chat and can answer any questions
@inner marsh have you by any chance been able to make anything else than "Stereo" for multi-output devices in Audio Midi Setup?
I donโt think so but I havenโt tried, why whatโs up
I'm doing a bit of experimenting with automating the setup process
and wanted to know if it's possible to do more than 2 channels
i think the virtual device has to be created with more channels first
blackhole for example gives you a few options
well, the HAL device can be created with more channels
the multi-output-coreaudio-thing can't, from what I can see
Huh
perhaps it could be created from code, but didn't have success doing that with Audio Midi Setup.app at least
basically, even though our current macaudio guide says you should install 16ch blackhole, I don't think it matters since you're bottlenecked by the multi-output thing
Except if the setting on there is meaningless and it just passes through all channels, which now that I think about it I didn't test
Hello, i would liike to use plugin but i use flatpak debian distro. I don't know where IS folder plugin..
In last version of Obs
might depend on your install exactly, but I think default should be something like ~/.var/app/com.obsproject.Studio/config/obs-studio/plugins
Thanks u, that true
Hey is there any easy enough to follow tutorial out there for developing an OBS plugin?
Specifically in C++. The only tutorial on YouTube I found was for making a simple webapp and pointing the webpage plugin at it, which will not work for me
Hey guys!
Is there a dock with buttons to test alerts?
It's the one thing in SLOBS I miss
Is the dock a browser url? Add a custom browser dock. If not I don't believe so.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe I should ask the Streamelements doods?
That'd be the place, yeah
Thanks ๐
I wouldn't be surprised if their SE.live plugin has some facility for it
Yeah probs!!! Forgot they had that
But I don't personally suggest its use due to the issues it has โ but check it out, your mileage may vary
Uh oh. Issues?
Wait StreamElements != SLD?
But yeah I'm trying to avoid plugins that mess with the OBS UI
Wait what?
Streamlabs Desktop
Nobody said SLD
Yeah, but he isn't using Streamlabs alerts
Oh no. I moved away from SLOBS. You just didn't read the whole thing hehe
This is a conversation carrying on from #windows-support where @true atlas already explained he switched to Streamelements
The only reason SLD was relevant to the discussion is that it has integrated alerts testing
Ah okay. Fair didn't know it was from support channel.
Btw you can use Streamlabs Alerts without SLD. :P
Yeah it's been years I've been wanting stuff like, auto-repeat alerts and auto-type in chat to set up alerts and chat.
Instead of having to go click test and type in chat every change I make.
Unbelievable that nobody solved it yet.
I can't be the only one who needs this lol
I mean, the whole idea is that you test the alerts once and then not again, so there's little impetus for anybody to make such a plugin
How about changing alerts for yearly events like halloween, xmas
Testing new ones for giveaways
Shoutouts
Or if you run a live podcast and you need to mess with them constantly because guests, events
Again, you have to set them up in Streamelements anyway, so you'd test it there
That's a minority thing.
If you change that many alerts on a regular basis where pressing a button is a headache :p
True
I get it. But even the one time setup is already so painful the way it is...
Or in cases like me where I mod for X number of people and I have to re-do THEIR alerts and overlays... ๐ฆ
But yeah thanks guys! I'll poke SE people ๐

If you need help with StreamElements products or services, please join their Discord server or submit a support ticket as we cannot provide further assistance here.
link to their Discord :)
Fair enough. If you manage multiple channels and their alerts for a living I can see it being beneficial.
Unfortunately minority aswell.
Yeah. Thanks again fellas!
Anyone?
Thought this was the dev category but aight
What's a good but simple plugin to show the title and artist of a song that's playing? I primarily use Firefox and music.youtube.com
I believe you're looking for Tuna.
Not at a pc atm, memory little foggy. I believe you install it. Add a infowriter source anywhere. Go set a hotkey under hotkeys.
I do remember it being a little janky to get to work properly though. I never got to use it for it's intended purpose.
I'm using advanced scene switcher to automate some video loop scenes but its not working correctly. I have grouped several scenes together with similar aesthetic into several groups and I want to be able to trigger the sequence by switching to a scene and after a certain amount of time, to then switch to play all the scenes listed in the group. But when I set up the sequence and start the scene switcher, my trigger scene will only transition to the first scene inside the group. It won't play the remaining scenes in my group - they are supposed to play in chronological order. What am i doing wrong?
Or is it not possible to have a individual scene trigger an entire group?
For example, these are all the scenes located in one of my aforementioned groups shown above.
Hey guys!
Is there a way to make a source show/hide following another source?
For example, I have a PNG file acting as a drop shadow for a nested scene.
But sometimes I'm in a scene and the nested scene is not up so you can just see the black square there...
Use OBS Shaderfilter to do drop shadow instead of faking it. ๐
Dude no
That's not an answer. And, doesn't work for this anyway because the shaderfilter gets cut off by the scene size
Well the answer to your exact question is "no there isn't a way".
Oof.
Wait a minute. I'm being dumb. I could put the shadow in a nested scene with the source
But, that's not a useful actionable answer for you to get what you really want though. So, another way to look at it is what is the underlying real problem you want to solve, and instead of having a pre-determined solution, to look at other solutions that get the desired end result.
(also known as an X-Y problem)
Hmmm no I can't do nested here either because that'll mess up animations. Hmmm Hmmm.
You can group things together in OBS Groups (not recommended due to bugs), or nested scenes, and whatever you do to the scene happens as a collective action. But for the purpose of applying a drop shadow to anything in OBS, the best most efficient way to do that is with a pixel shader. Shaderfilter has 2 different drop shadow shaders that work well, but it's also possible to make custom solutions too. There are some other hack ways to do it but none are really as efficient as a shader.
Yeah I'm avoiding the groups, found that out the hard way...
These kind of problems are often solveable by re-envisioning how to lay out scenes in a more layered manner including filters etc.
Yeah ok, let's see. I'll illustrate better
Source Mirror filter from StreamFX can help to reduce excessive nested scenes sometimes also
Yeah that one is a LIFESAVER, using it a lot
So this is the chatting scene with the shadow, right
The problem with nesting here is, the game that's gonna be on top of that, gets animated back to full screen when I switch back to gaming
Not sure your exact usage scenario but one possible idea is to have a bunch of sources in one setup/meta scene, with a drop shadow shader applied to the scene itself, and one source visible in the scene. In the presentation scene nest the meta-scene, and use Exeldro's plugin that lets you activate sources like radio buttons... I forget the name of the plugin... Source Chooser or something like that
If I nest that into a bigger scene to have the shadow in there, it'll be an issue when the game gets back to fullscreen... Unless.... I make the scene larger than 1920x1080 to accomodate the shadow?
And yeah what you're mentioning is called source toggler. I wish I'd seen that before just now... Lol I have buttons in the streamdeck turning a LOT of stuff off that I wouldn't have to if I knew that was a thing.
If the game is the inset and you have a shadow on it when inset, and you want to switch it fullscreen without a shadow, then have the game in a scene by itself with the shadow on it, sized so it is visible, and a copy of that without the shadow, and switch between them, or alternatively animate the property using Move Value from move-transition plugin to toggle the filter off when going full screen
See but that's what I'm saying. If the game scene is larger than 1080p I don't even need to turn the shadow off, right?
But there's another problem with that. I have a shader there that's doing the rounded corners
Yeah, over time you can come up with ideas and try to figure out how to do them and pull it off, but there might be easier ways to do it with other plugins/scripts etc. So along the journey you keep discovering new plugins, tools, scripts, ideas, and adding them to the mental toolbox so to speak, then from time to time, redesigning past designs to use better tools from the mental toolbox, improving efficiency, reducing complexity etc. And there are always new things coming out too... ๐
Well, if the shadow is not visible it is optimal to turn it off anyway as it's just burning some GPU cycles even if it is only a small amount.
So when things go fullscreen, I have actions in the buttons turning off the rounded corners
But
If I did the bigger-than-1080 idea
Now the rounded corners are considering the scene INCLUDING the shadow, right
Are you just toggling it full screen, or animating it with move-transition?
Yeah, I'd just transition the shadow out or toggle it off when full, to not waste cycles.
The other problem too, is I have the game scene set up in a way so as to toggle between ultrawide and HD games, which changes its size. So THIS is a compelling reason to go shader because the shader will adjust
yep
From an optimization standpoint, having pre-rendered content is more optimal than generating it live if it can solve the given problem. For example, someone has a background image for their greenscreen but wants to blur it. Someone might use a StreamFX gaussian blur. But that background isn't moving or changing, and gaussian blur burns GPU heavily depending on how much blur it is, repeating it over and over on some input that isn't changing. Much better to do that in GIMP and save the image and use the blurred image as static background. Just one example of pre-rendering static content/fx than doing it live.
But, if the content being affected is dynamic and the filter/FX would then also be dynamic due to varied input, including things like animation with move-transition etc., then using filters/shaders can keep it dynamic, but you can look for ways to optimize that too to have least impact on runtime performance.
Yeah that's one big reason I tend to go PNG file style
Also when I first set this stuff up, it was the only way to do most things
I had fullscreen animations I made in AE even
Also, for certain dynamic content, prerendering can be more optimal also, such as having a background video loop and wanting to say... blur it... best done in a video editor and pre-rendering the blur. But people will sometimes again use runtime blur in OBS and murder their GPU ๐
I switched to SLOBS a while back and didn't really change my overlays since, so I'm now catching up on what's been released for the real OBS as I quit Streamlabs. Turns out it's a LOT easier now ๐
Lots of little ways to optimize stuff.
I'm not super worried about resource usage cuz I'm on 3950X+3090 but still, no point in making 'em sweat more than they have to
yep, what isn't overburdening in one use case can be in another. Such as playing some new game that totally annihilates a GPU for example
Hahahaha like New World?
Wouldn't want some drop shadow or blur filter that isn't visible dropping the game frame rate from 60 to 50 ๐
๐
Ok so, here's what I'm thinking, right.
The shader can't expand beyond the source I'm applying it to.
But what if there was a way to apply the shader to the parent scene and make it only shade one source?
This way the shader has the parent scene's size to work with that's outside the source we're trying to shade
Blur and SDF can be particularly heavy, especially the way most people use them. Blur in particular should be using dual-filter in most cases to use least GPU and it works great, otherwise Box Linear. And to further reduce GPU usage one can add a downscale filter in front of the source to be blurred dropping it to one half/third/quarter resolution, and an upscale back to canvas size after the blur.
@true atlas you seem to be forgetting that the crop/pad filter has the word "pad" in it
Any filter applied to a source or scene will affect the entire source or composited scene.
