@mortal harbor Do you have multiple copies of OBS installed? This is one of the primary causes people have for not being able to get StreamFX to work as it installs only to one OBS installation automatically and not always the one that is currently being used.

I cannot find the Add: Move transition option under Scene Transitions when installing the Move Transition plug-in:

hihi maybe someone here can help. Ive been trying to add Move Transition plug-in to my OBS Studio. I'm sure many of you are familiar - https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/move-transition.913/ I've tried using the Installer for Windows and I've also tried using the zip and moving the files into C:\Program Files\obs-studio where my OBS folder is located. I've even used the uninstall option included with the installer as well as removing and reinstalling the folders manually. (so ive done this like 30 times)

I'm on OBS 26.1.1 if that's also helpful.

Hi people,
I'm trying to do background removal, got a basic green screen working but I wanted to look into AI assisted methods too, as the green screen isn't a particularly pure green. I cloned a project from git 'obs-background removal' but haven't been able to get it to compile (half way through the process, it complained of not being able to find the obs libraries. I think there may have been a missing step in the project's install instructions). Is there a pre-built copy of this library?

Other than that, I'd love to be able to write shaders that affect a stream. Does a framework already exist to, for example, write a simple glsl script and have OBS pick up certain uniforms in that script and present them as tweakable values in the filter view?
Also, is it possible to animate filter or plugin properties over time, some sort of dopesheet/animation curve editor?

Make sure you read the StreamFX installation documentation and system requirements, and OBS version requirement. You have to be running a version of StreamFX compatible with the version of OBS you're running and that changes every time a new OBS comes out in general. Also, make sure you are running a stable release of StreamFX and not the alpha development test version.

we kind of "broke" the plugin (at least what they wanted it for) in 27. New feature is being added to you can trigger the sound when you trigger the replay save, instead of what currently happens (in 27) where it beeps when its done writing the file

Installation:

  1. Exit OBS.
  2. Take obs_replaybuffer-notification.dll and put it in your /obs-plugin folder.
  3. Everything else in the zip should go into /bin/64bit
  4. Grab any .wav sound file and put it in the /bin/64bit. sound file must have the name sound.wav
  5. Run OBS and restart it.

Optional: In your /bin/64bit there should be a new file config.toml. This is the file you edit (while obs is not running) to change the source of the sound.

Try saving a replay and see if it plays the sound file.

Hey Everyone. I hope this is the right place to ask(first time) - let me know if I need to put else where🙏

I have been using virtual camera on a scene with a mask on it. Up until last night the “virtual obs cam plugin” had been taking the scene and Utilising its alpha channel on the instance( so I could see what was being displayed behind it) But for some reason has now stopped and all I am getting now is the masked camera imagery with the image plane (rectangle) stopping whatever is behind it showing though anymore.

did something change or have I gotten something confused. I created a completely new scene and tried to recreate it but the same thing is happening.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows where to point me in the right direction. thank you in advance for your time

Hey Chiyo - yeah I updated a while ago though and it was still working - literally streamed on Monday with the mask on - and being able to see what was behind it.
Then on tues started to fix the things I wanted to and noticed that with the virtual camera layer that the mask wasn’t allowing the opacity though and I was getting stuck with a black rectangle.

But on the original layer the mask is working fine and shows what it needs to with the unmasked area showing what’s behind.

If I add a color correction filter and affect the opacity it effects the hole image and not just the masked area

@hallow robin did i understand your setup correctly? you have a video capture device source, part of which needs to be made partially transparent?
i think th ebest approach to this would be to use source mirror from the streamfx plugin, you could create two (or more) source mirrors with different crop dimensions, and apply opacity filters as needed

Yeah.
So I have my camera with a image blend mask on it. Set to alpha - So that it crops some of my surroundings out.
(That one works and I can see what’s on the seperate layer underneath)
That also has the obs virtual cam filter on it.

Then I have the other layer which is the image capture device - set to the obs virtual cam (which up until tues had taken then mask applied to the original and carried it though - now it just takes the imagery of the mask but makes everything else black in its image plane boundary box)

Wont the opacity - opacity the hole image plane where I need it to just remove what’s not being taken from the image mask from the original

But thank you - I will try the mirror source and see what that does

  1. Install VB-Audio CABLE. (A reboot is not required)
  2. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio and select "CABLE Input" as your Monitoring Device
  3. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties and enable Audio Monitoring for the audio sources you'd like to stream to Discord.
  4. In Discord, in Voice & Video settings, select "CABLE Output" instead of your microphone under "Input device".

Now anything you monitor in OBS Studio will be streamed to Discord. Similar steps will work with other conferencing apps, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack.

Hey everyone, i'm currently having an issue with the "Move Transition" plugin not showing up when I go to add it as a transition. I've made sure I was downloading the correct files (not the source code), extracting them, then installing via the correct paths; I also tried the windows installer. I have also tried restarting OBS as well as my desktop to no avail. The .pdb and .dll files are visible in the 64-bit folder as well as the "move-transition" folder being visible in the data folder. I do have another transition plugin (transition override matrix) could that be where this problem is stemming from?Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

  1. Uninstall OBS.Live
  2. Uninstall OBS Studio (make sure that "User Settings" is not selected)
  3. Install OBS Studio again from https://obsproject.com/
    Your settings will be saved unless you have selected to delete them during removal.

@hoary maple OBS has a built in virtual camera for a few releases now which replaces the plugin version for certain usage cases, in which case the plugin isn't necessary unless you are using one of the use cases that OBS does not have built in support for yet. Older YouTube videos that predate the OBS builtin virtual camera might be outdated in that regard.

One other common use case for VirtualCam plugin which is also mostly obsolete, is for doing video feedback loops. Video feedback is generally superior using Exeldro's fine Recursion filter plugin.

they have a website where you can do a couple free translation but the programatic API is paid and not that cheap (beyond the free monthly quota), especially since for realtime translation you need to translate partial sentences a lot (which doesnt really help the translations quality either), or otherwise have the translations always be behind a lot
output also matters a lot, easiest would be to just use OBS captions output but that doesnt support non western charsets so you'd need something else (highly depending on where or to what you wanna stream), which can complicate things a ton too

VirtualCam plugin filter has a configurable buffer size you can change to find what works best. Or try using the Virtual Camera that has been built into OBS for several releases unless you absolutely need it as a source/scene filter. Other than that, you could try using NDI plugin instead with the NDI software if the programs you're using support NDI.

Hi:) I have 2 monitor setup and most of the time my game is on monitor 1 but since I've sign up to stream elements(and installed OBS live), OBS is on my monitor1 as well. That won't be a problem if I could drag it to monitor 2 but I can't. Question regarding the obs-ndi plugin used as a filter.
I have a Sony mirrorless camera as a video source and an XLR mic as an audio source for a scene. I'd like the video and audio from those sources both to go through a dedicated NDI output filter into Zoom, and so far without success. Here's what I've tried:

  • If I put a single dedicated NDI output filter on the camera source, the NDI video works (including the OBS filters) and the NDI Audio line also comes from the camera (that's not the mic I want, so I disabled it at the camera itself).
  • If I put a dedicated NDI output filter (audio only) on the XLR mic, it works in Zoom as the Line (NewTek NDI Audio) microphone. It seems to be attenuated relative to using the Virtual Audio cables, but I can work with that.
  • If I combine the two only the NDI output from the camera works.
  • If I use an NDI dedicated output from the scene, rather than the two sources, only the NDI video works.

I'm not sure what, if anything, I'm doing wrong. I was hoping to have guaranteed A/V sync when going from OBS to Zoom or Skype.

This is all OBS 27+Windows 10.

I heard about move transition, but I don't understand how to do it.

  2. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio and select "CABLE Input" as your Monitoring Device
  3. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties and enable Audio Monitoring for the audio sources you'd like to stream to Discord.
  4. In Discord, in Voice & Video settings, select "CABLE Output" instead of your microphone under "Input device".

Now anything you monitor in OBS Studio will be streamed to Discord. Similar steps will work with other conferencing apps, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack.

Not sure where I should ask this, but I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction -- I have a collection of scenes with dynamic, colored light maps. No transparency, all black means no contribution of light to a surface, I use StreamFX dynamic masks to apply these to my sources, but that part is sort of separate from this question.

My issue is that I have multiple, moving light sources and I want to effectively compose the light maps dynamically when they overlap (I also want my more global light sources such as ambient light and a "room" light to be composed, but I can hack my way around those situations more easily since the sources do not move). The composition of the light maps not strictly an additive operation, as someone here pointed out in here the other day (thank you). There is clearly no direct support for doing this in OBS and I suspect it's sort of a niche need. My educated guess is that I should develop either a new kind of source or a new kind of filter that is capable of composing my lightmaps from a list of other contributing sources, which are themselves treated as lightmaps. Does this make sense? Do people have other ideas?

If you're not seeing OBS Shaderfilter show up in OBS then it isn't installed correctly. You need to download the correct ZIP file (make sure you didn't get the source code), decompress it, and copy both folders into the correct directory in your OBS installation. Make sure if you have multiple copies of OBS installed that you are installing it to the correct one that you are actually using or it wont show up. Also note that OBS only enumerates plugins when the program starts up so it wont see any plugins that get installed while it is already running until it is restarted.

Ok, your OBS log file does not show Shaderfilter even attempting to be loaded which means if you have it installed that it is not installed in the correct location. Either the files were copied into the incorrect subdirectory, or you might have multiple OBS installations on your computer and copied the files into a different OBS installation than the one that you are trying to run, which is one of the most common problems with installing plugins and them not showing up.

It's a good idea to uninstall any OBS installations that you do not need/use as it may cause other problems with other plugins as well. Some plugins EXE installers will install to a specific location only, and it might not be the installation you're using, so they wont show up.

  • pick a random viewer among people how are saying something to the chat when the process of random person selecting is iniciated
    I saw something similar long time ago when a streamer was gifting away something, it was a separated window where he was pressing the button and selecting a person from the chat who was spamming "12312 124124 1 24". In that window he could talk to that person, basically it was needed to make sure that the "picked guy" is there and not afk and if he is the streamer can press the "pick" button again to select next random guy.

I know you are busy, but maybe an idea for a new plugin (a wish I asked the devs do have it native in OBS, will not happen soon): A dock where you can place only selected scenes (like favorites). The reason behind is: often you have helper scenes, and the regular scenes list gets full. It would be cool to have just an extra list with only the scenes to switch in between, only the "danger" to get a helper scene.

Maybe one mode as a list, and one mode with the buttons, as OBS has. The ultimate thing would be if the buttons would be small live previews of the favorite scenes, like you did in "Source Dock", but in this case only as read-only.

You just need to download and install OBS Shaderfilter as per the instructions, then download the shader file and point the User Defined Shader filter at the corner pin shader file, then tweak the properties of it to taste.

The source (a nested scene - contain only the camera) was presized and pre-cropped before the filter was applied - looks like the shader only applys to the full sheet of 'paper', rather than applying to the cropped version. Will continue my hunt - thanks 🙂

filters are always applied in order from top to bottom, and the settings you set in "edit transform" only affect the sceneitem, not the sources, so filters always ignore it

Do you mean "a low pass filter plugin"? Or is there a specific ("the") one you're referring to? OBS itself does not have a low pass filter built into it, and audio plugins for OBS are VST 1&2 plugins, so you should be able to use any VST effect plugin (not instrument plugins) with OBS as long as they are the same bitness (ie: 64bit) as OBS is and they're installed on your system in the systemwide VST directory. If you just want a low pass filter plugin and not the low pass filter plugin (as I'd have no idea what the plugin is you refer to without you naming it explicitly), then search Google for "low pass filter VST plugin", or "graphic equalizer VST plugin" as they generally have an LPF also.

The free ReaPlugs VST plugin package from Cockos, the creators of the Reaper DAW comes with a graphic equalizer and all other standard types of filters including LPF/HPF/BPF/NF etc.

I'm wondering about a Twitch chat overlay plug-in - which I use in another (a-hem, cough cough) program, and REALLY enjoy. It allows you to have your stream chat floating over your gameplay, which (for me) means I don't miss messages and lose opportunities to interact with viewers.

@weak escarp yo, I am absolutely loving the move transition plugin. Is there any chance you could add the option to add sounds too. Like adding a field for the user to upload a "whoosh" sound for example.

@weak escarp like I could just add a sound to the scene but then if I go to that scene from another one (with like a fade transition) I got the sound too, even though I only want it for move transitions to that scene.
If there's a way to already get it please let me know.
And if there isn't and you plan on making it, a volume slider for the uploaded transition sound could be helpful too.

Also as a general rule, try not to install multiple versions of the same thing.

It looks like those all contain installers, so there should be an uninstall in your add/remove programs list.

Unless you downloaded the source code and tried to paste that in to the OBS folder, in which case you never actually installed it in the first place.
