@harsh topaz Why not just hand edit the JSON file that is the Scene Collection with a more advanced test editor like Notepad++? When you're dealing with big collections and bulk operations, that's the way to go instead of using the UI, generally speaking.

I've found when dealing with giant scene collections it gets too confusing and complicated to figure out where OBS saves specific information - since sometimes it puts it multiple places. And if you don't do them all properly you can easily just ruin the entire scene.

So I've just stepped away from doing that - since trying to fix a scene collection through that often for me ended up just not working - and being wasted time, instead of just grunt working it.

Regardless, copy pasting transformations should honestly be default in OBS 😐

I suppose you're right. But copy pasting is in a league of its own in terms of how often it's used.

When you're working on larger productions especially - and you have multiple components that you're moving then being able to get the transformations is really big. It's a huge hassle to do 100~ transformations.

I have RSI. Clicking hurts after that 😦

And considering there's a hotkey for 'reset' which I dont think I use more than a few times if that.

Well. I set up 6 screenshare cameras, 6 web cameras, 1 local, 1 external sharing - each needing same position in a nested scene. Each with a name label, text label, border - and 2 different ways of pulling in the feed (browser source, window capture with electron app).

It's a lot of "this all have to be in same position" work, but it's dynamically set up.

So its a lot of nested scenes, that are all the same except different sources (that have different input)

Which is also why 27 is going to be when it's stable release - because the hide/show stinger for fading instead of rough hide/show is gonna really make the broadcast clean 🙂 can't wait.

Probably also doesn't help that I accidentally deleted something I needed last time, and had to partially set it up again. But copy paste would've still been a godsent 🙂

One thing that has helped me with this in the past (though you’ve probably already considered it/are already doing it) is having a scene called Camera 1 or Screen 1 and putting all the inputs that could go into Camera 1/Screen1 in that scene and then toggling which input is active from a control surface.

not exactly. let's say i have 4 guests joining a broadcast and I want to be able to plug them into any of the potential slots in the broadcast (e.g. for a 4-up):

here Purple is Camera 1, Blue is Camera 2, etc. but I can put any guest into any slot by swapping which guest camera is active in these scenes:

each "Camera X" scene has each potential guest camera in it so it's just a matter of choosing which is active. cuts down on a bunch of duplication and makes things a bit more flexible for swapping guests around

In your scenario I think adding the frames and stuff here could work although I think I'd nest one more time to layer those on top

I sure love waiting for anybody to try this out it's like 5 minutes testing so I could confirm to Twitch (before opening a support ticket and having a exhausting discussion about weather it is my fault) that they needed to update their plugin for the newer OBS version. You* (person reading this) would just need to setup, run through the wizard for Twitch Soundboard and it should auto-install the plugin on your streaming-software preferences atm. it is only a choice between OBS and SLOBS. And I need to know if it works out-of-the-box for OBS Studio 26.1.1.

I don't know how better to construct having 2 different camera variations for each camera, 6 cameras and 6 positions each of them can be in.

on new macbook with the M1 processor the hot keys only work when OBS is main tab open. Hotkeys should start and stop a stream whenever I need them to. How do I fix this?

Even without a layer of language translation, I have yet to see any AI web captioning system that outputs anything close to what the person said. 1 to N words are misinterpreted leading to hilarity in the captions. 1. Install VB-Audio CABLE. (A reboot is not required)
2. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio and select "CABLE Input" as your Monitoring Device
3. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties and enable Audio Monitoring for the audio sources you'd like to stream to Discord.
4. In Discord, in Voice & Video settings, select "CABLE Output" instead of your microphone under "Input device".

Now anything you monitor in OBS Studio will be streamed to Discord. Similar steps will work with other conferencing apps, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack.

Setup replay source for a golf simulator. Two 120fps cameras. OBS freezes and i have to kill it and restart. It is random how long it takes to fail. Might be as few as 5 shots or as many at 50. The log file always shows adding the first replay source when it fails but never the second always in this place is the last log entry. The only thing i have tried is either checking or unchecking "capture internal frames" either way it does the same thing. Any other suggests? Here is an example of what I see at the end of the log file when it does happen.

Not sure if it's progress but when that freezes it actually crashes my whole computer. Happened twice now. Golf computer is currently frozen, I am waiting to see if it ever comes back. Before it was just OBS that froze. Are there any specific setting I need to put on VCD with Buffer? I just used to defaults. Do not understand why VCD with Buffer has some audio settings or what they do.

Depends on exactly what you mean by stutter. If you mean image/line/pixel based glitch type stuff, that can be done with shaders, and the OBS Shadertoy plugin comes with a sample glitch shader and some others. If you mean time based glitch, I don't know of any off the shelf insta-solution, but using the various plugins together one can probably concoct something by experimentation.

Assuming you're on Windows, ideally you should download and install plugins from the EXE file installer if one is provided. If not then it is usually a ZIP file. Be sure to read all of the installation instructions including any system requirements, hardware requirements, OBS version compatibility, as well as any pre-required software that must be installed such as runtime libraries etc. If you have to use a ZIP file to install, bee sure to copy all of the files to the correct location in the correct OBS installation. If you have more than one OBS installation (knowingly, unknowingly, forgettedly etc.), the version you're running might not be the same one as you installed the plugins into (a not uncommon problem).

Everyones voice is difference in terms of how deep or treble it is. There's no "best settings" for a lot of these things, it's recommended to test test test till you get something that sounds good. Only thing I can say is - more often than doing less does more. No one likes someone that sounds fake.

And depending on what microphone you have and how it sounds. And depending on your room, how isolated it is how echoey etc - that'll also impact it.

So it's really hard to tell someone "just do this" because of all the factors.

@vocal spade Highly recommended if you're using Windows to get the StreamFX EXE installer. The developer has mentioned the ZIP files will be going away in the future because too many people get them instead of the EXE file and then can't install them properly. Too many YouTube videos with bad advice in them to get the ZIP file also.

In the majority of cases, install via EXE file, and it just works.

If it doesn't, then there might be more than one OBS installation on the computer (perhaps an old one someone even forgot about), and removing unnecessary OBS installs and cleaning it up can solve it.

Same advice holds for any plugin tho, not just StreamFX.

@sterile needle You'd have to write a custom script to do something like that, or alternatively load the MP3 file into Audacity audio editor and add 5 seconds of silence to the start of it, then save the WAV file and load that into OBS. By saving it as a WAV file you're not introducing any multi-generational noise to the audio so it should sound identical to the MP3.

If you are already familiar with programming in Python or LUA then it might be easy to learn how to make OBS plugin scripts with them. If you've no prior programming experience or none with these languages then the learning curve would be appreciably higher.

Using Audacity is dirt simple for anyone to do without any prior experience, and no big disadvantages unless there are a huge number of audio files to process and doing them manually like this would be tedious.

There are probably some commandline tools that could be used to automate doing it for a large number of files if that was a need, although I'm not familiar with any to suggest off the top of my head. I recall there being some commandline utilities for audio processing, but forget what they were.

I only had my system crash once and I think it was just a fluke. OBS does freeze on me. I'm using "replay source" for a similar reason. I'm capturing 3.5 seconds, triggered by audio for a golf simulator. It only happens when I use multiple cameras and multiple replay sources. And it won't happen just by installing "replay source" either. @weak escarp I'm still playing with it but I'm not running out of memory. Only had a chance to hit a few times in the SIM this week. I will validate that none of my freezes are low memory issues right now the 3 i did capture my free system memory has been above 10GB. Let me know if there is anything more I can do. Seems like there should be some debug mode I could run to give you more info. Right now you don't really have any info to go on. @weak escarp I am currently using "Video Capture Device with Replay Buffer" as the source to "replay source". I've also tried "Video Capture Device" both work and both freeze but only with multiple cameras. Although I probably should go back and test one camera, it may be freezing on that because I have not tried that for a while. It is interesting that it works at all and I don't have "enable replay buffer" checked in settings. I will enable that and see if it makes any difference.

@weak escarp I wonder if i offset the capture start between the two cameras by 50ms or some other number if it might help. I wonder if the fact that they are configured to start and finish the captures exactly at that same time might be my issue.

Do we need to save a replay using the replay buffer first then load (eg. at the moment I have a hotkey 'r' set for the replay buffer)... assuming a replay buffer clip needs to be saved out before it can be loaded in the same way as your media source example video using Load Replay (F4 hotkey)??

(Or does the Load Replay automatically save and load a section?)

I know it sounds simple - but you'd be shocked how often someone misses a / or does \ instead - or one of the 100 other ways they can mess up a find and replace. And then you gotta sit there and take them through it all over again. It's honestly a big hassle.

Hi guys I got a huge problem, I use NDI doble pc for streaming and pubg, warzone rocket, and fast "fps" are working fine!!! 144fps

The problem is I got naraka and scavengers on pre-release and beta and those are working with such a stuttering I can't believe it, even though in my gaming pc it's at 144fps

I tried windows mode, full screen and, admin mode in the game. But nothing seems to be working. I realflly need help guys.

Setting a 'Scene' to have the filter 'Virtual Camera'

Changing to another scene, the virtual camera goes like this on OBSN

Anything you have an input for? switching back to the scene that has the Virtual Filter brings back the feed.

(Bare in mind that scene is black). The feed just doesn't come through from the specific scene.

Actually, any scene I switch to is black. Hmm, the behaviour seems to change a bit. I did some test with it on a blank scene collection the other day and it seemed to work. Which is why in the actual project I'm wondering what went wrong.

Regular Virtual Camera works.

It works on the test Scene Collection.

I'm having really weird behaviours. On some scenes the cameras will stay - others itll break and go black...

So the scenes that contain the same sources as the the with the virtual camera filter keeps the Virtual Camera active in OBSN.

Scenes that don't contain the sources that are in the scene with the virtual camera filter goes black for people on OBSN.

Is this intended behaviour or am I missing something?

Look for installation instructions on the page you downloaded the plugin from, the OBS website page for the plugin, the github page or it's own website etc. Almost every plugin has installation instructions usually.

If not, and it comes in an archive, it is installed by copying all of the important files in the archive to the magic correct locations in the OBS installation tree.

@mortal harbor What you want to do is possible, but cumbersome. You can create a browser extension which will run in the browser and listen to DOM mutations (HTML changes) and then communicate with OBS via WS or HTTP connection.

Also, you are running the browser and OBS on the same device, right?

hi everyone. I was trying to find a decent way of getting the data stream (video and audio) from a capture card (an elgato, in this case) in near real time. In essence, I need to get this data, in a format something similar to frames/images/raw data stream, and then feed it in some fashion into an AI (mostly python). I thought about asking here about details/directions on how I could reach this datastream and work with it. Kinda wondering if there is a somewhat easy way to access this data in OBS already, without going through multiple extra encoding layers

I'm guessing doing that through OBS might be worst that just using some C++ librairies I don't know about to gather and process this data, and feed it to my machine learning algo through an API or something

OBS will not be developed for ChromeOS. The operating system has too many limits in place that prevent OBS from being able to do what it needs to do, and more often than not, Chromebook hardware is too weak to render and encode live video. The Linux Beta for ChromeOS does not change this.

@next cedar Make sure you don't have multiple copies of OBS installed to different locations (perhaps that were forgotten etc.). Sometimes people install plugins and they get installed to an old OBS installation they are not using, and do not show up in the active one they are using.

For NDI with OBS you need to make sure you have NDI tools installed as well as the OBS-ndi plugin and the NDI runtime, then restart OBS.

Make sure your OBS is up to date and the NDI software is all up to date also and compatible with your OBS version.

@weak escarp If you open your Scene Collection with DSKs in them, in an OBS that does not have the DSK plugin - then open the Scene Collection in an OBS that has the DSK plugin they are all gone. Is that an inherited way of OBS or a flaw with the plugin?

Opened my scene collection in v27, then in 26 its gone again (didn't install the plugins for v27 before opening).

Also the DSKs aren't duplicated when creating a duplicate Scene Collection. Limitation?

The DSKs are saved in the scene collection, I have not looked at duplicating or using a version without plugin yet

Yes because closing and opening regularly works. But it disappears when you open the scene collection without the plugin, then open same scene collection with the plugin again and the dsk is gone. At least for me, had to readd everything :3

@weak escarp Included in this, the MoveTransition tools transitions are also gone if you open a scene collection without the plugin installed - then open the scene collection again after adding the plugin. It overwrites the json and the stuff seems to be gone.

Taking an old backup, opening that in both v26 and v27 they were still present because the file was opened with the plugin.

Don't know the technical things behind it - can you confirm the following issue:

1. Add Move: Transition
2. Add custom DSK tab name and DSK source.
3. Save Collection.
4. Close OBS.
5. Remove DSK/Move Transition Plugin.
6. Open Scene Collection.
7. Close OBS.
8. Add DSK/Move Transition Plugin
9. Open Scene collection.

Result:
Transitions and DSK settings are gone?

Greetings! I'm really scratching my head over this one. I cannot seem to output NDI sound. Whatever I try, there's no sound being sent out via ndi when I try to monitor it locally. Any ideas? It worked perfectly when I did the exact same setup on a computer at work, but my personal computer just doesn't want to output audio via ndi.

EDIT: Now it works for some reason. I guess that's just how it is sometimes..
EDIT2: Solution: So apperantly outputting scenes does not include audio, only video. I had a scene output active. Only the program output actually contains sound. That's a bit unfortunate in my opinion. Is there just a techincal limitaiton or simply forgotten to implement?

Hi, I'm using the NDI plugin, I can't tell if at the moment if it's a bug or its my system, but when I use ndi source and u select the Audio only option the audio does not record or go out to the stream. I can hear the NDI audio through the monitor. Hope someone can shed some light :)

I got a url that generates whenever i go live that works as the control panel for the chat and polling.
I got the ability to generate the url whenever i need via a python script i wrote and i got the ability to add the panel as a dock in obs.
However i currently lack the ability to automate this, and i have yet to find any script or plugin that could help me.

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing.

I'm experiencing an issue with Move Transition filters getting stuck in the 'visible' state even though it's supposed to toggle itself off. Anyone experienced this?

Only solution I can seem to come up with is a universal 'unstuck' script that literally untoggles every script in every scene.. But it's be much nicer if there was a reason or way to make it not happen.

I'd prefer not untoggling like 200 filters - and updating it when changing things >.<

I can't repo it, even spamming the keys to enable/disable multiple filters it doesn't seem to happen. But then when I'm testing various scenes out suddenly one scene won't move, and true enough, there's filters stuck. I tried to repo it in a separate scene, but I think it's an issue that comes with a lot of filters and a lot of enable/disabling simultaneously.

Again managed to get it stuck. Not sure what I should to to repo, I'm just turning on X filters off X or so - and randomly it won't work 😐

To use the Audio Monitoring feature, click Edit -> Advanced Audio Properties and set Audio Monitoring to either Monitor Only, or Monitor and Output. Monitor Only will not output that device's audio to your stream/recording.
Audio for that device will be played out of your system default device, unless otherwise specified in Settings -> Audio -> Advanced.

I would just create a private event, use the "dynamic bitrate" encoder on the youtube backend, and just blast away at a high bitrate, like 20-30 000, and then observe on the youtube backend, as well as on OBS.

e.g.
I can give any video file from filesystem or any video streaming url as a source in OBS Studio.
In my case I do not have local video file or url but I have MediaStream which I can convert to Blob using MediaRecorder. Now I want to pass this Blob as a source to OBS Studio.

I am not sure how can I achive this. May be I need to host websocket to pass these Blob data or I may need to setup streaming server to create my own url whcih I can use in OBS Studio.

I don't even know where to place it but is it bug or feature when enabling any VST plugin in filters then visual monitoring volume meter is stopped and goes down to 0 for USB mic (Elgato Wave)? Mic itself keeps working and filters are working too, just volume meter is down. And this is only with VST-s. Internal filters do not affect it.

My headset mic (HyperX) which has it's own USB "sound card" with it it doesn't have such behaviour. Also front panel mic with 3,5mm plug doesn't have such issue ether. I don't have any other USB mics to test with either to see if it's particularly Elgato mic issue or issue with USB mics in general.

@weak escarp My problem with OBS freeze using "replay source" with 2 cameras. My application is a golf simulator. I offset the start of the replays by 50ms. So now one camera captures 1700ms before the audio trigger and the other camera 1750ms before the audio trigger. This seems to have fixed my problem. I played 36 holes and practiced on the range a bunch with no issues.

Assuming you' mean v3.1.0, you must be on the release candidate v27 builds of OBS (which also isn't supported by OBS.Live, if you're using that 3rd-party plug-in with known issues...). Per the very first line of the ASIO plug-in release notes:

@weak escarp Your Copy Source plugin does not check for Scene of same name already existing, and if you copy in a different scene with same name - itll "link"(?) the two. It's a weird interaction, but there's two scenes and if you rename one you rename both, and so on. Probably delete too.

In OBS Studio 25.0 and later, you can output via SRT to appropriate servers by going to Stream settings and selecting "Custom" for your service, then entering your srt:// path into the Server box. If you're on separate networks and you want to control it as a moderator while live, there are a variety of tools better suited than teamviewer. OBS-websocket + obs-tablet-remote over a VPN or via port forwarding, for example.

Is there a simple filter to put a 'softness' / circular fade around a source? Looking to basically fade out the edges of a rectangular video source to make it look circular. Some editors have a 'softness' filter that does this automatically. Any way to do this in OBS or do I need a specific alpha mask?

@short lark That can be done within OBS directly using an Image/Alpha mask filter, you just have to create a custom image mask either black/white with greyscale fading out, or alternatively black and white with an alpha channel that fades out, OBS supports both.

Another way to do it is a custom pixel shader using one of the shader plugins and custom code.

The Image Mask/Alpha filter is the simplest end user method however.

Need help with the ASIO plugin for obs. We have an audio box usb96 audio card, the card has two ports for microphones, but obs only will pick up the microphone that is plugged into port bumber 1 but not port number two. I installed ASIO for obs becuase i was informed that to utilize the full extent of my audiocard i would need to. That being said, even after installing asio, i still cant get the microphones to work in both ports of the audio card, just the one. Please help.
