Not sure if it possible to do that automatically or not. Something would have to get a plugin/disconnect event when it is plugged in, and then trigger a filter or something. Then again maybe Advanced Scene Switcher does all kinds of crazy stuff so might be worth exploring also. But getting an event for a specific piece of hardware using a specific plugin probably would need an at least partially custom solution, or manually pressing a button.

If the camera source has no size when disconnected, ie 0x0 or something then possibly Advanced Scene Switcher or a custom LUA script could do it, if it resumes 0 size when disconnected. You'd be testing connectedness via the size of the source.

If so, you have play, pause, stop, restart... If you need it to loop. Add a delay before having it play again...
Then every time it finishes. It would wait, then after the delay. It would press play.

Is it for if your camera accidentally crashes? You can probably use the ADV-SS to watch the changes in a area.
But you might be able to set up something else. I might recommend VDO Ninja, since you can pass through controlls to OBS, and maybe even have it or ADV-SS control the source when something happens.

I need help regarding OBS

one of the plugins I am using is to use my OBS audio settings for my microphone but on Discord. However, it seems to also be picking up my stream alerts causing everyone else in a call or VC to hear it. Is there a solution to fix this?

The plugin I use for this is Virtual Cable. The only other plugin I use is audio monitor for my stream alerts

Use the Audio Monitor plugin and add it to your mic only, then you can use the VB Cable there. Then set the default OBS monitor to your headphones.

YEP! Change the Monitor Device in advanced to something else. Thats using all of OBS. So set those to headphones or speakers. Then the VB Cable should only output what the AM plugin is on!

Hi there, don't really know if my question is legit around here, but I was using OBS-HUD for a few months since I only have one screen at the time and it allows me to see when I'm recording while not appearing on the videos I make. But yesterday BitDefender decided that it'll be the end of that and now flags it and desinfect it now matter how many times I whilelist it / make exceptions. If anyone encountered the problem or have a solution I'm all ears. TIA

Let me provide more details:

DroidCam is an app that lets you stream your phone cam to your computer via WiFi (also via usb I think).

It has two versions, the old one where you have to install an app both on the phone and the computer. And the newer version which requires you to install the DroidCam OBS plugin and just the app on the phone.

The newer version is better because the app grants you full control of your camera via an API and also being tightly integrated in OBS gives more stability and less latency.

As I explained in my previous messages, I use my phone with this app to show stuff around my house.
What I would like to do, is to have the DroidCam source hidden in OBS until the computer receives the video feed (it automatically connects when you have the app opened and the source is visible in a scene), and then hide it when I disconnect the feed.
The plugin does this already, but it's just a "video pops in/pops out" type of situation, exactly like when you connect a webcam on your pc and have the check box "hide when not in use" ticked.

I thought that since the plugin has the same check box, OBS already knows in someway if the video feed is being transmitted or not, so I was wondering if there is a way/plugin that can detect it and activate a move filter to slide in and out the source from my scene.

Thanks for the clarification. I understood what you are attempting, but the description of you disconnecting and showing the camera around your home. Made me assume you might have meant when the charger is disconnected and you are roaming around.

In the bottom section is where you can find the Wait action. You can then use seconds, minutes, and hours.
Then you'd have it play the said media source again. Assuming you want something to loop, similar to a social media popout?

I've tried ADVSS and when DroidCam OBS connects it enables the move filter and works great, but when I disconnect the feed, the source goes from 4k size to 0x0 px and after that ADVSS triggers the filter. From when I stop the app to the point it goes 0x0 maybe 3 seconds pass, is there a way to trigger the action during this time?

Are you using obs_frontend_add_dock_by_id or obs_frontend_add_custom_qdock? In my quickhack I used the latter since it's mostly a one-for-one-replacement, but I think using dock_by_id and passing a normal QWidget pointer will create a dock with the proper style

Replacing the old API to use obs_frontend_add_dock_by_id requires to modify the QDockWidget you were giving to be a only QWidget (or a QFrame).
The first quick step is too swap QDockWidget inheritance by at least QWidget and then modify the widget and it's .ui to "fit".

Absolutely no stress! It's all good.
You can maybe check reduce matching latency. There's also a clock next to Video
Which you can use to adjust the accuracy of when it should notice things. So if the output is exactly, at least or within should be really useful to limit the delay! Hope this helps!

I am using application audio capture to get a round my VOD getting flagged on twitch. Everything works and I have the channel for my VOD set to 6 and I have the application audio capture off on channel 6 with everything else on. My VOD still gets muted and I get a copyright warning. Can anyone help with this concerning OBS and Twitch? I am using game capture with audio capture for the screen so nothing is coming from the desktop alone audio wise. This is so I can play Spotify in the background without it getting stored on my VOD.

Tried both, nothing helped, it seems that ADVSS detects that there's no video output from the DroidCam OBS source only after the 3 seconds are passed and the source goes to 0x0 px

To give more context, when I play "stop streaming" in the DroidCam phone app, the source in OBS Freeze on the last frame it received and after 3 seconds it goes black and has a size of 0x0 pixels. ADVSS doesn't detect that there's no video feed only after the source has gone to 0x0 px

has anyone had success in giving Rounded Corners to a DYNAMIC source, in my case a text source (and its filled in Background)? it's tricky because the text changes and varies in length. i've tried and failed with png masks and advanced masks, neither of which can support the changes (edges end up being jagged or not totally rounded depending on text length).

The OBS ASIO plugin appears to continue working with the new version of OBS for existing sources, but when I try to create a new source I can select the ASIO device, but all of the other drop downs are blank. I know already saved settings continue working because I have other ASIO sources that still work... Does anyone know where these settings are physically saved? If I knew where the settings were saved I could just manually edit the file and not go through the GUI in OBS to get it working.

Not source clone, but source copy. It's mad useful for stuff like this. You can export just sigle scenes, sources, etc. With preserved info.

That way I can litterally just use what you have, and see the issue!

i took off the filters since they werent doing anything (advanced masks and a couple of irrelevant and inactive shaderfilters)

it can be any font too, im just trying to round the coners of the text background, so literally any text source with a background will do.

Okay so I looked over, the issue is the width and height. If it's too small, it starts to get messed up.

The width, and height need to have something that works with the corner radius. Or it starts to get like that.

So for width and height. Don't use anything less, than 700px, and radius, no less, than 300.
If you want to use something less, use custom instead of uniform. And set each corner to something like 15px. Which should work

but when i shrink the text, it cuts off. and when i make it longer, it makes the source smaller! (?!)

scratch that last part, it seems to shrink in the preview window, but what actually happens to the source is the text apparnetly continues invisibly but is being cropped out by advanced mask, so you dont see it.

Try this one, you kind have to adjust it when it's like that. To be honest. It much easer to make a nested scene, and make a custom shape from that and then you don't have to worry about text size. I can create an example if need be

I have been using obs from the past 8 months.
Yesterday I have faced an problem that, while adding an video capture to the source panel. The video capture usb option is not enabling, it's only got strucked at laptop Web cam . And I tried to restart the pc. And deleted the all sources and scenes and again tried but no use. In some time the video capture device is showing like a black screen.
I have checked out few options from YouTube but I feel it wasn't helpful.
Obs team, please guide me in this

Got it! That's gonna need CSS then, that's should be simple to make though.

I setup the following code, but it's being triggeded on scene change and doesn't have much details about the sources. Am I using this correctly, is there an alternative? Should i just connect to websockets?

I apologize if this is the wrong channel. I am trying to figure out how to flip the obs virtual webcam. I have been trying to stream how on a site called monkey or uhmegle. Which is like omegle. It is a popular way to pick up viewers and followers. I enable the obs virtual webcam and everything works except everything is mirrored. So the text of the games I play will be backwards and nobody want to see it backwards. Any help. I have tried Google and can't come up with any solutions.

The view you see in your application is flipped for you only. This is because most applications expect a webcam, and they want to mimic looking in a mirror for your own preview. Everyone else sees what you see in the OBS preview.

i wanted to use this Bongo Cat Plugin on OBS and customize it to fit my needs but it doesnt support all available keys on the keyboard, has no gamepad support and looks like its been abandoned for ~4 years now so i want to update it myself.

While i dont have much experience coding in c++ im sure i can manage the coding part (im a c# dev) but i've never built anything via CMake and judging by the CMakeLists.txt there are a bunch of things that need to be setup to be able to build it.

Could someone check it out and tell me how to setup my environment? Whenever i open the Folder containing the repo in VS it seems to try and build it but fails. i've tinkered with it for a while over the course of 3 days and wasnt able to make much progress.

which version of OBS did you try building it against? As it says 25+ it likely won't build with OBS 30+
You could try building it with OBS 28 or 29

Otherwise you'd have to update the CMake configuration for our modern cmake builds

Im completely new to obs development. i didnt build it against any obs version since i dont even know how to do that (or that i even need to do that). The OBS Studio Development Guide doesnt include such a step in the Plugin Section. The Plugins Documentation doesn't include anything build related.

The Readme for the Plugin Template does include some information about obs-studio being a dependency as configured in the buildspec.json file but the plugin im trying to modify doesnt have such a file so.. how would i configure this properly?

Nevermind, I saw that LOG_DEBUG is only displayed in the debugger console, and I was able to create my own plugin by creating the c files and add add_obs_plugin(...) to the plugins CMakeLists.txt. I can now see and edit my plugin files within the SLN solution 👍

Can I use and include scripts that come from other plugin into my plugin ? I would like to get some function defined in win-capture plugin.

Is there a way to use C++ instead of C for my plugin code ?

I don't used Owned Pro. But when you login you should be able to open/edit your overlays.

Quickest way to see what you are up against is to install cmake and go to the root folder of the repo (where the CMakeLists.txt file is). Then do: mkdir build, cd build, cmake .. , cmake --build . It might work, if not you might get a VS solution you can open.

yeah i've tried similar things already. sadly it doesnt work. the cmakelist first tries to compare a CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS variable (which in my case is set to /machine:x64) and fails to set the ARCH variable accordingly because it expects either /machine:x64 /OPT:REF or /machine:x86 /OPT:REF which seem to be optimization flags that i dont know how to set.

Next it tries to compare a MSVC_VERSION variable agains a bunch of values none of which would match my VS 2022 installation and then Set the COMPILER variable to some number. I dont know what this number is about and im sadly not able to simply install VS 2019 since microsoft doesnt provide the files for it anymore since i dont know how to update this im kinda stuck but just for fun i tried to set it to its highes mentioned value in this list (142) and get on with the next error.

it checks CORE_CRL_MD and sets a CRT variable to either MD or MT. again no idea what any of this means.

All those variables are then used to to determine paths to thid party libraries and while i did manage to just put some values in that i thought might work and i did get a solution out of it once it was full of errors regarding missing source and header files. I havent given up yet but thats as far as i've come

Game capture sources allow you to use a hotkey mode to capture the currently active window, allowing you to use one game capture source for all of your games and even allowing you to switch games easily. To activate this mode:

I have couple of question. maybe somebody can help me. somehow I deleted my main scenes in obs now I am trying to re-made it same as I had it before. my mistake for no making backup. but my question is I have a plugin or something install that let me show any source over any scenes. so pretty much i have a scene full of video clips I use and moji or for fun. it still work but I cannot remember what plugin it is. if anybody know which plugin i'm talking about. I already looked at my log file but the plugin I see there doesn't look familiar and its hard to tell by the names. I being copying the dll names a pasting it in google but haven't find it. My other question is about toggling a source. So I'm using the same scenes but within the scenes I create groups and put the videos clips according to the group. I am using the plugin source toggle but the problem with it is that it can toggle the source within the group but if I make another source visible in another group the previous source stay visible. is there a way to toggle a source within another group. I can toggle the group but not the source inside

Technically both... Cause a lot of filters are plugins. For example, Retro Effects, Shader Filter, Noise, etc...
You might wanna set up a Nested Scene with your camera, then have all the filters on that scene. Then when you wan it to transition to that scene, have Streamer Bot or something else switch to that scene and activate all the filters

"CPU/GPU usage" metrics are basically worthless nowadays. Any competent processor will clock down if it’s not necessary to have high clock speeds, decreasing power usage and thermal output - this will increase the usage but is a good thing.

Similarly with RAM, if you’re OS is utilizing e.g. 4/16 GB it’s simply bad at its job. More RAM usage overall suggests that your system is e.g. preempting what you might be doing next, making the task quicker when you actually do it.

• In OBS, go to Tools > Scripts, go to the "python settings" tab and select the folder to which it got installed. If you did it right, a message should pop below telling you python 3.10 is loaded

To create a new scene collection:
1. Click on the Scene Collection menu → New
2. Name the new collection "Testing"

I just did some testing, all of the sources work fine until I add more than just one audio output capture

I was troubleshooting by changing the audio tracks, changing my latency, seeing if my audio interface would work better at a different buffer, changing the audio channels, but to no avail. Everything in obs works fine from what I could tell until I add two audio output capture sources

Hello, I would like some help. I am trying the Virtual Camera for the first time so that I can use Stream Together on Twitch; however, despite having my webcam selected as the Virtual Camera source, Twitch still doesn't recognize my Virtual Camera at all - it gives an error saying my camera is in use by another source. I have absolutely no other apps open that would use my camera, just Twitch and OBS. Firefox works just fine.

I think Google ask for mic and camera permissions on the first page at the same time. So in the second page, it recognizes it being used

Hey Sorry for the late reply.
I think I've found a solution.
I'm using the "if source hasn't changed" function and told it to check in the last 4 seconds. This way when I stop the video feed from the phone, in less than a second it hides the source. It seems to work, I have yet to find if it does also when nothing moves while I'm sending the active video feed

Honestly, if it's an android device you want captured into OBS, it's simpler to use SCRCPY for capturing Android devices.

Don't know what to say. Tech Support Discord may be able to help. I use SCRCPY on multiple tablets and even my Chromebook and they all just work. Some are USB connected to the pc running obs, others are just on the same local network.

Does your Editor support importing of EDL files?
If not, you won't have any "pre-cuts" to make to the recording. The plugin creates a text file, with the timestamps when you press one of the shortcuts. That's it. Then you use the text file as your script for where you marked events for later editing.

Yes, that's the recording. But the plugin can be configured to output an EDL compatible text file. It's all part of the instructions for setting up the plugin. You choose logfile location, format, etc.

that link I sent from rev(dot)com shows an example of how to import EDL, but it looks like it's for transcribed media. There may be other ways for EDL text files generated by Infowriter.

@sudden egret I'm reading a little further on the EDL output format, looks there are some issues with it. Not sure if they are fixed between this alpha release in 2020 and the current stable v.2.6.2 from April 2024.

Noise reduction? Use the built in Noise Suppression, set it to RNNosie if your computer can handle it.
Otherwise use Reaper VST's and use ReaFir and ReaGate (I used to used ReaFir for Noise Suppression before RNNoise which is built into OBS)

But first words will help a lot. Cause it will trigger anything you set up per user that joins the stream. But won't trigger again till words are reset.

But first ever is something you can also set up, so if someone is completely new. They can get a special message to your channel!

They work with lights, but they're so much more. If you're familiar with Stream Elements. They are used for overlays, chat, and much more! Their chat widget in their overlays is automatically all platforms, including discord

You might want to, just depends what Stream Element stuff you have. Some Stream Element stuff is still better imo. But Lumia gives a lot of good default options. Only downside is the coding flexibility right now. But it all depends on what you're planning to do with the overlays!

Firefox containers are a way to limit cross site tracking, and use multiple profiles (if you manage multiple social accounts. For example, two different Instagrams, two YouTubes, two Twitches, etc) then you can have two separate tab containers with separate cookie sessions.)

Though, of course there is more to tracking. Since meta and other sites usually have their tracking pixels everywhere.

So there's also Facebook containers, which was before Firefox containers I think. But it specifically isolates metas stuff

So I scrolled up to briefly read through your issues with the capture card.
The issue I believe is that the USB A or USB C is solely the output. While the HDMI is the input...

I'm not sure if you're using a mini HDMI to HDMI from your phone to the capture card. Or if you have it capturing it the other way around.

Also a couple of other things to know, Samsung actually has a way of connecting to your PC locally. Which might be more ideal for your mobile games, they also had a special app I can't recall right now. But I will keep looking for it!

I think your capture card is fine, it's just not used correctly. Also phone, if it is connected to your capture card. Could be set to disconnect after a few seconds. You also can probably just use your phones charging cable to capture it in OBS, with I think Droidcam?

So to clarify you currently have it set up like so
Samsung S24 > USB C to HDMI > Capture Card > Computer? Or Capture Card > USB 3 > Computer?

Cause from the photos you showed, it's hard to see certain details...

Also have your tried other devices or HDMI cables? Just for curiosity sake?
