So it might just be a me not knowing good exporting settings, but for some reason the mp4s it outputs either my friend's mac can't edit or I can't open on my Dell XPS 17 core i7 Nvidia Geforce 3060 RTX

My friend can't open the videos on his mac video editor (Pro Live or something like that, whatever the Mac one is haha)

So it might not be the problem with source record but maybe the settings I have for it haha

ok so im trying to make ONE scene that the audio will not play my nested scene. The issue im having is when i clone it the clone works great. But the audio still comes thru even though the audio tab is not active. The only audio coming thru is the media sources. They have their own personal audio. Im trying to figure out how to prevent any audio coming thru at all. But only in that one scene

If you are having problems with playing content created by OBS Studio in Movies & TV or QuickTime Player, this is because the media player does not have proper format support. This causes missing video, audio, or for the file to not open at all.

if you want audio in 1 scene and not in the other you would need to use 2 different source clones

I have the nested scene i want in all my scenes. But in that one scene i dont want that nested scene to have any audio. So i source copied it. Added it to the scene i do not want audio in. The audio from the media source still comes thru.

i believe you have to disable your hardware acceleration on chrome for it to show up on obs.

honestly idk..i just know its something that needs to be done to enable obs to see chrome or some other browsers. I cant answer that for ya. i do not have it activated on mine. i have zero issues. But please look into it before you do anything.

If you want to interact with a browser source, right click on it in the sources list and choose “Interact” near the bottom.

This will pop up a window that will let you click on different elements. Not everything works as you would expect, and i dont believe you can scroll, but you do get most of the interactive options

I am having trouble with the move source filter.
I wanted to group sources together but when i put them into a folder, i cant select them for the move source filter? is there a workaround or is this just not possible?

Groups are a little funky like that. As far as I know they aren't something you can apply a filter to in general. They can have, um, unexpected results anyway. Best to not use them.

Instead, put the sources into their own scene. You can add the scene as a source to other scenes and apply filters to them.

To more easily move those sources into their own scene, the Source Copy plugin is handy https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/source-copy.1261/

Is the source clone plugin heavy?
I did "clean" my obs today by using them, but now i got 2 audio lanes for every source and only if both are enabled sound is actually played in my stream. My Vtube model also seems to stutter SOMETIMES since i did this....

It's extremely lightweight -- basically it's free until you start adding filters and effects and such. At that point, it's however heavy those filter and effects are.

i got like 4 move source filter on ~2 source clones. Should be fine i suppose :c

yeah, move filters are also relativly light. Its shaders, blur, and similar filters that can get weighty

well, move filters that arent going crazy with lots of little changes every few millisecond. If its just "move from here to here", thats gonna be easy. But "jitter this source like its had too much coffee, and do it FOREVER", that can add up after awhile

Like in an audio visualizer, those would be the parts where it spikes the most.

And honestly, I'd be surprised if even having lots of caffeine makes a real difference compared to anything else, given that no matter what's changing or how it's changing, it still needs to be updated once per frame.

I'm having some problems with the OBS teleport plugin. PC1 and PC2 both have the same version, on 'Teleport' properties teleport is enabled on both, they are both on the same port#, but when I try to add PC1 as a source to PC2 only PC2 shows up on the drop-down menu. Could this be a network issue or are there other settings that I'm forgetting?

I got an audio visualizer and I want an visual filter to trigger whenever a certain bar of that visualizer hits a certain point on the screen.
I tried to do it with the move plugin and take the db of the musik as a trigger, but thats pretty wonky.

I am bad in explaining sry.
I basically need something to be triggered once the third bar of the audio visualizer moves.

i don't know that you'll actually gain much (if any) performance here but as long as you are also using NVENC encoding on the streaming PC quality will at least be the same.

Hi everyone. I'm currently trying to set up a livestream for work on my macbook pro. I fed an HMI cable from my Panasonic Camcorder to a BlackMagic Ultra Studio 3g Recorder then plugged that into my computer using a USBC cable. When I open up OBS the software won't recognize my camera. I've tried uninstalling, restarting, and unplugging but can't figure it out.

A good rule to follow with tutorials on any app you are using for the first time:
The tutorial should say what version of the app they used in the video. If they don't, stop watching that one. Find a better video. If the version in the video is a prior version to one you have installed, same rule may apply, depending on the differences between versions.

Instead of whatever Logitech program you use, try Logicapture. It will save your camera settings. Then you would choose Logicapture in this dropdown instead of the cam by name.

No, you misunderstand. When you said you need help finding your plugins to re-install, I thought you meant literally re-install them because the were uninstalled or you had to wipe your drive, etc.

@summer shale to clarify from the follow-up question you asked, no you don't need to keep the installers after installing the plugin. I only said "if you still had them..." as an easy way to find them and reinstall them. And really, only a few plugin installers are relatively large, most don't take up much storage space.

If the plugin installers were used previously, it's probably best to use the installer again, downloading the most recent version of each plugin you want to use. I'm not sure how it works copying the plugins folder to a new PC.

Someone else will have to confirm if copying the plugin data works by itself, or if they still need to be installed. Personally, I would install them.

Technically you are not reinstalling them if you are moving OBS and your setup to a new PC that never had OBS or the plugins installed before.

The drive where you had OBS originally. You mentioned earlier replacing hardware. The only way to know which plugins you had before was to either have written them down somewhere, digitally or physically, or booting up the old drive with OBS and your original setup.

starting to think it's this "Audio Monitor" plugin. He did an update to it after I reported some crashes. It got better but I think it's still causing the crashses. I've removed the plugin completed for now. Just hate not having this feature, it is nice! 🙂

You choose depending on your operating system, if you have Linux then download Linux version, If Windows then Windows version and if you want to compile plugin itself for your specific needs or want to change the code itself adding features or so then you download source so you can start coding/programming thee plugin by yourself.

Moving forward. If you have Windows machine then you choose between 64-bit or 32-bit (which is x86). This depends on if your Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit. You can find it under "Start - Control Panel - System" where it says what it is: "System type: 64-bit operating system" for example.
And it also depends on if your installed OBS is 64-bit or 32-bit. You can install 32-bit programs in 64-bit OS (which is not advisable if there is 64-bit version available as well unless you have very specific needs to use 32-bit there) but not vice versa.

So we're getting there and narrowing our options. Only .exe or .zip left to choose from. .exe is installer which installs needed files to places where they are needed to be in, mostly Next-next-next type behaviour. Depending on plugin it may have also uninstaller built in so you could easily remove plugin from Windows start menu or through Windows own Add/Remove programs panel.

.zip is archive from which you have to manually extract files to places where they are needed to be in but you have to know where to put them to make them work and also folder structures and everything needs to be like it should need to be. And if you want to remove plugin then you have to do it manually by deleting all these files and again you need to know what files to delete and from where.

And lastly presets file is where presets are in, either overlay design and keyboard or mouse types, layout, profiles etc.

Hopefully this explains some things in this world 😄

the zip copy of OBS is for setting up a Portable Install, where the scenes/profiles are saved locally to the OBS folder. This lets you take OBS with you on a USB stick @summer shale

It changes depending on what channel you are in. For best results, make capture method the one that ends in "same executable". Otherwise the window can get lost when it changes names

Hey all, got a weird issue here and wondering if anyone has seen it, or has any suggestions:

I'm using obs-scene-as-transition to do as it says on the tin - use a scene as a transition. It has the option to enable a Filter when activated, which I'm using for the Move Filter to animate my transition.

Thing is, this works once and ONLY once. After that, it just sits there during the length of the duration and then switches at the end like it was supposed to, but no Filter animation.

Then I come to find out if I have the Filter panel open for my Transition, THEN it works almost EVERY time.

Wth??? I can't have this panel open all stream, it just won't last (clicking off hides the filter panel) and is a flaky workflow... Anyone know what I should be looking at?

Also want to state I have the exact same hardware and OS/dependencies installed on another system and it works flawlessly there (copied entire obs-config config folder with plugins/configs/etc).

I can't seem to figure out what is going on with this other instance that makes it operate COMPLETELY differently. The logs are practically identical between the systems as well (of course sans any timestamps, and hardware IDs, etc), so nothing jumps out at me.

What do?

I filed an issue against obs-scene-as-transition but now that i find it works with the panel open, i wonder if this is a deeper-rooted issue in OBS?

Remove all move transition filters and set it up again, I suspect you may have touched something you shouldn't have while you were troubleshooting on your own.

The issue here is that 2 move transition filters are launched simultaneously, and there is no filter to reset to the "original" (out of bounds) position. What you should be doing instead is set them up in a way that they trigger one at a time, and you never need to move anything by yourself after the initial setup.

I had that setup originally where the out of bounds position got set whenever the source was hidden, and moved once when shown. That worked fine, but Im struggeling to get a second postion to work.

Filter 1: triggers when you switch to this scene (using the Source Show condition), moves the source to its original out-of-bounds position, set "Next Move" to "Filter 2"
Filter 2: moves the source from out of bounds to in bounds, set "Next Move" to "Filter 3"

There are no "best settings." Please understand that every setup, for every use case, will be different. Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming at best.

We recommend that you start off by using Auto-Config to get a baseline of where your settings should be; click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions. You can test and adjust from there.

Might be able to run two instances of OBS, one portable and one regular. That depends on if you have the performance to spare though

You can still "primarily" stream on Twitch. You can keep a Profile for Twitch and a Profile for YT, so you can switch easily between them if you are only streaming to one or the other in a single session.
But the best recommendation when multi-streaming is to set OBS to stream to YT (because of the Manage Broadcasts twist YT adds) and use a multi-rtmp plugin output to stream to Twitch.
Or....
Run two instances of OBS.

I've just been speaking with Restream support about the "Chat" Dock as it seems to have a minor bug (for me at least) on Windows 10 and latest version of OBS. After offering some suggestions, none of which worked, they mentioned "the Restream docks aren't managed/developed by Restream and were actually created by OBS Studio itself, so there could be an issue at times." hence coming here 😄

In OBS in the Restream Chat Dock it is still showing the Title of an old stream from last year underneath the chat.

Here are the steps I've taken to try and troubleshoot/fix the issue with no effect sadly:

• checked OBS is up to date (it is)
• disconnected and reconnected Restream from my Twitch
• updated the Title in the "Stream Information" and "Restream Channels" Docks (this updates the Titles on Twitch/YouTube but doesn't update in the Chat Dock)
• Restream support advised to try using Custom Browser Docks instead of the built-in Docks, that had the same issue

Please excuse the photos, OBS refuses to let me screenshot it's window even with all the different printscreen/screenshot shortcuts! 😄 The "Restream Chat" Dock is from a Custom Browser Dock URL (uses https://chat.restream.io/) and the "Chat" Dock is the default one.

Using the Multiple Output plugin w/OBS and works wonders but for YouTube it doesn't do well. But I'm wondering if the issue is what I think it is.

My YTube channel is a sub channel to my main as I don't stream on the main channel. With OBS as standalone it works really well. When I use the plugin my viewers say "we don't see your stream live" but on my end, the OBS and YTube GoLive area it's all working and streaming. I've checked the main channel and I don't see the stream there either and most certainly not the sub one.

Is this possibly a known issue with my circumstance or does Multiple Output not work that well with YTube ?

To help resolve your issue, we need to view a log file from a fresh launch of OBS Studio containing an output session. Follow these instructions to upload a clean log file:

1. Restart OBS Studio first!
2. Start your stream/recording replicating any issues (meaning having any games/apps open and captured, etc.)
3. Stop your stream/recording after 30 seconds or after the issue has occurred
4. Click the Help menu → Log Files → Upload Current Log File
5. Paste the URL into this Discord channel

Hi, Is someone using the EpocCam iOS App in combination with OBS Studio??

There is a problem with the interaction between Elgato Camera Hub, the iOS app "Elgato EpocCam Pro" and OBS Studio. When I open OBS Studio, there is a strong audio distortion (in the WHOLE system, so even when playing a videos, listening to music, playing games, sound distortion of the WHOLE system) and the the tool called "LatencyMon" shows that the problem is "ElgatoVirtualCamera.sys".

The distortion only stops when I open "EpocCam Pro" on my iPhone. From that moment on (even if I close the EpocCam app) the sound distortion is gone - until I close OBS Studio and start it again.

Hi, I need help with getting a bot and a plugin.

I regularly play with viewers on YouTube streams, anyway to keep things fair, viewers use their game name to sign up to a queue on the Discord server.

I don't know if such a thing exists, anyway I'm looking for a bot through which viewers could sign up to the waiting list directly through YouTube chat or through a room on the Discord server.

To make everything clear, I need the bot in question to have OBS integration. I'd like to be able to display the spectators currently playing, including the players who will be next in line. I'm constantly being asked when the person in question will take their turn, so this would make streaming a lot easier.

If there is someone who creates Discord bots and possibly OBS plugins, I have no problem paying the person in question to create what I need.

Certain games or applications will require OBS Studio to be run with elevated privileges (Administrator) in order to be captured. Running as administrator may also improve OBS performance when gaming.

To run as administrator, close OBS Studio, then simply right click the OBS Studio shortcut and select Run as administrator.
