@quaint dune i don't see any attempts to load obs-multi-rtmp.dll, so it wasn't installed
are you sure you installed it to the correct directory? (executable installer might fail to autodetect the right folder if you installed obs-studio more than once, then you will have to use the .zip file and extract manually)

Is possible screencast with audio in OBS via scrcpy?

lament leaf
# bitter prairie I can not get my elgato g keys on corsair k100 keyboard to work with obs

I am not sure if you can. Firstly to run the g keys. You need to have Corsair iCue program running. Second, the g keys are generally macro keys. You can have Elgato Stream Deck interact with the keys since the stream deck had a plugin developed for it. I am not sure if they can interact with OBS directly. From what I could find for a similar situation with internet searches, a corsair employee (on their own forum) recommended working thru Elgato Stream Deck.

@queen sierra

To capture only audio from specific programs:

Windows

  • add an Application Audio Capture (BETA) source and select the program to capture
  • alternatively, you can also use the win-capture-audio plugin on Windows 10 2004 and later

macOS

  • macOS 13 (Ventura): add a macOS Screen Capture source, use Window or Application, and select the app to capture
  • for previous versions of macOS, follow the macOS Desktop Audio Capture Guide
obsidian agate
# queen sierra Okay, I've played a bit with Source Record. What I'm having difficulty comprehen...

I believe for Source Record, it will only record the sources audio if you just record that source. So if Source Record targets a Game Capture source, only the Game Capture audio would be recorded.

However, if you set up a new scene, put whatever in that scene, then add the Source Record filter to that scene, it -should- record all of the audio that is part of that scene.

I havent messed around with Source Record to know if this is fully accurate, but it gives you something to test out

Just Google "OBS Plugins" it will link you to a forum... Make sure to check the URL however, hackers been packaging obs with malware and getting top slot on Google - MAKE SURE you don't click a sponsored slot or an ad slot, make sure it's something like "obsproject" or something.

Go-to the forum and click on "Plugins" search that slew of pages for something that can do what you need. Remember you can get inventive and combine more than 1 to get an effect you want

Just tested and downloaded both of those successfully here, so there doesn't appear to be any problems on the server side at the moment.

fresh urchin
#

Oh but I just don’t understand how to do it I always download them wrong

quiet bramble
#

What operating system are you using?

fresh urchin
#

Windows obs 28

quiet bramble
#

Ok, you can get Freeze Filter from this link, click on Download, and then on the [Download] button beside freeze-filter-0.3.3-windows-installer.zip. You will need to unzip the zip file using a program like 7-zip or whatever archiver you prefer, and then run the EXE file installer inside. For StreamFX, there is no stable release for OBS 28, just an unsupported alpha release presently. You can download the linked EXE and run it. OBS studio will need to be restarted if it is running during installation of any plugins before it will see them.
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/freeze-filter.950/
https://github.com/Xaymar/obs-StreamFX/releases/download/0.12.0a151/streamfx-windows-0.12.0a151-g0f114f56.exe

fresh urchin
#

By unzip that’s extract correct

quiet bramble
#

Keep in mind also that the alpha version of StreamFX has known issues, and that there wont ever be a stable release of StreamFX for OBS 28.x, so if you encounter problems there aren't a lot of options. (Downgrading to OBS 27.2.4 and using the last stable StreamFX release, or waiting until a future stable release and upgrading to the new OBS it supports).

quiet bramble
fresh urchin
#

And where do u run the the exe file for freeze filter

quiet bramble
#

doesn't matter, just open it wherever it is extracted to, and follow the installation wizard

fresh urchin
#

Ok is there another plug-in with blur filter?

#

and 3D

quiet bramble
#

The OBS Shaderfilter plugin has a gaussian blur shader, but it is quite primitive compared to the Blur filter included in StreamFX. Not aware of any other blur filters for OBS. If by 3D you mean the 3D Transform filter in StreamFX, it has 3 modes, perpective, orthographic and corner pin. There are no alternatives for the first 2 of these options, however there are a few other options for Corner Pin. I've made a modified version of it which adds anti-aliasing to the filter for use with OBS Shaderfilter, and I believe there is another 3rd party Corner Pin available in the OBS forums (not 100% sure).

#

Only Exeldro's fork of Shaderfilter currently works with OBS 28.x at the moment also.

quiet bramble
#

In general I recommend people use the newest version of OBS that is stable and reliable for their use case, and compatible with whatever plugins and tools they want to use. As such there is no one single release I would recommend generically.

#

Most people should use 28.x unless they need to use some plugin or other software that is not compatible with it yet, in which case 27.2.4 might serve them better.

fresh urchin
#

👍 thank you

quiet bramble
#

27.2.4 is the best release for people requiring StreamFX and wanting the most stable result.

fresh urchin
#

I’m trying to make an overlay in obs where It blurs the background

quiet bramble
#

Personally, I use 26.1.1 for some things, 27.2.4 for others, and 28.1.2 for other stuff, as well as testing the 29.0.0beta 3 release. Which release I use depends on what I'm using it for.

fresh urchin
#

How can u use all of them when your stream to twitch for example

quiet bramble
#

Best way to blur a background depends on whether the background is static or dynamic. If the background is just a still image background, the best way to blur it is to do it in GIMP or photoshop and save the resulting blurred image and load that into OBS. If the background is a video loop that is pre-recorded, best way to blur that is to do it in a video editor and save a new video that is blurred and loop that. In both cases, this relieves OBS and the GPU from having to do a very expensive blur operation at runtime which is unnecessary if it can be blurred in advance.

#

For blurring content that is generated live however, the only way to do that is to blur it in OBS with a blur filter. This can put a huge burden on the GPU, but that can be optimized to reduce the runtime performance costs.

fresh urchin
#

Rather then the main game

quiet bramble
#

In general, when using the StreamFX blur filter to blur a background of dynamic content, you duplicate the content using something like Source Mirror or Source Clone filters, then apply 3 filters to the cloned source. First is an OBS scale filter configured to lower the resolution of the source to at least 1/2 in both directions, if not 1/3 or 1/4, which massively reduces the number of pixels that need to be computed during the following blur operation. Second is to add the blur filter, and use Dual Filtering mode which is the least expensive, and adjust the size. Finally a second scale filter is added which is set to "Scale to canvas" which restores the blurred source to the full resolution.

#

Dual-filter usually is all one needs, but if you need a blur amount that is in between the coarse grained settings it provides, then box-linear blur is recommended instead. The blur options in StreamFX from least to most burden on the GPU are: dual-filtering, box-linear, box, gaussian linear, gaussian

#

Using those 2 scale filters on each side of the blur greatly reduces the GPU overhead while also aiding the blurring operation.

fresh urchin
#

Can I show u an example of what I mean lol

quiet bramble
quiet bramble
fresh urchin
#

Like that

quiet bramble
#

Yeah, the instructions I gave above can do that.

fresh urchin
#

Ok cool thanks ,

fresh urchin
quiet bramble
#

Summarizing:

  1. Use Source Mirror or Source Clone to make a duplicate of the game capture, and place this source underneath the game capture.
  2. Apply 3 filters to the mirrored source. Scale Filter + Blur + Scale filter
  3. First scale filter should be 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 the horizontal resolution of the actual game capture source.
  4. Blur filter using the least resource using blurs from least to most - dual-filtering, box-linear, box, gaussian linear, gaussian.
  5. Second scale filter set to scale-to-canvas.
quiet bramble
fresh urchin
#

Ok thank you I’ll let you know tomorrow if the installation works 😂

quiet bramble
#

Oh, as a bonus tip, if you want a drop shadow in between your game and the blurred backdrop of the game, you can use the drop-shadow shader from OBS Shaderfilter also.

#

yeah, best of luck getting it all working! Also, happy new year! 🙂

fresh urchin
#

Happy New Year

#

See @quiet bramble I’m using streamer bot and they told me soon there gonna not allow obs 27 anymore that’s why I use 28 which I’m mad I can’t use streamfx lol

quiet bramble
#

Yeah, that is definitely an unpleasant situation. 😦 Only the newest version of OBS is officially supported by the project, and most of the plugins are only supported by their authors on the latest stable release of OBS as well, however there are plugins and tools that are not always supported on the latest release of OBS too. Additionally due to new features etc. that get added or changed over time in OBS, it can introduce other incompatibilities or issues for a given person depending on their use case. So it is possible at times where one is put between a rock and a hard place as they say, where you have to choose a newer release to get support, but some plugins or tools might not work, or there might be a difference in how something works that isn't quite what one expects or needs, or one might have to stick with an older release to use a particular plugin like StreamFX, but then all the newer plugin releases do not support the older release.

#

Not much anyone can do about that though, as each project's developers choose what they will or will not support, and we just have to try to find a solution that is a compromise of what is available that as many things as we want or need work within.

#

For myself, I've found that compromise by using different versions of OBS for different use cases, and even using multiple releases together at times, passing video between them using other plugins.

fresh urchin
#

Ok 👍 😆

quiet bramble
#

I think the overwhelming majority of people generally get by quite well with the latest release though, although it can sometimes be a good idea if people wait a few weeks or a month or so for any bugs in new releases to get ironed out, and any plugin incompatibilities to also get sorted out.

fresh urchin
#

Can I use the shade filter plug-in for what I’m trying to do

quiet bramble
#

Most of the problems that do arise tend to only affect people with complex/advanced setups or whom are using a tonne of plugins/tools.

#

Best way for you to do the above, is with the info I provided. Not possible to just use the Shaderfilter for that without being a shader developer and writing your own effects.

fresh urchin
#

Oh ok

mortal harbor
quiet bramble
#

Even though OBS has been around for about 10 or more years now, we're still somewhat in the wild wild west of personal video streaming so doing cool things outside of the norm comes with some caveats for now. 🙂

fresh urchin
quiet bramble
#

The sheer number of cool plugins, shaders, and other tools that have come out in the last few years has really increased what is possible to do in OBS though, and I'm sure that will continue over the next few years, and things that were previously a bit complex/convoluted to set up will get easier for people over time.

Hey guys! Started producing a podcast recently as we are upgrading it, so I had some questions about Audio and NDI

  1. If someone joins from Zoom, and I assign their screen to an NDI Source plug in, will it remain the same between different meetings as long as they use the same device each time?

  2. If we have more than 6 Audio Tracks (There are six of them + me in the background + a guest sometimes), will the audio come out smooth? Does everyone need their own tracks for audio to come out right?

is Win-Capture-Audio built in to OBS 28 now? i need this option still and it seems they did not update this plugin on the github it was last touched 6 months ago. Also need to know the same for the Andersama ASIO plugin for OBS. The developer was in here a while back saying they were not going to update it , but it looks like on the github it was touched up 3 months ago? I asked this question here a few days ago and got a shotty answer. Can someone give me a correct reply pls

#

i don't think you could've gotten a more direct answer.

solid shoal
#

how do i remove plugins?

visual lantern
solid shoal
#

well its virtualcam

#

i deleted all i could find in the folders

visual lantern
#

I don't think you can technically uninstall that since it's now built-in

solid shoal
#

but when i load up obs its still there

visual lantern
#

I reiterate

solid shoal
#

i got rid of it coz it wouldnt work properly

#

and obs gives me this

#

thats why i removed it

#

or at least tried

visual lantern
#

Probably because you removed every single folder that it directed to?

solid shoal
#

no

#

its the reason i even tried to get rid of it in the first place

visual lantern
#

Have you tried to uninstalling and reinstalling it for a new instance of obs

solid shoal
#

i dont even get what you mean

visual lantern
#

Have you uninstalled and then reinstalled the software

#

Cuz there's a slight chance that the file got corrupted or misplaced

#

Have you moved your OBS folder from one spot to another?

#

Or made any altercations to the location at all?

solid shoal
#

no

#

also even tho i uninstalled the plugin

#

still

#

shows up in obs

visual lantern
#

Again, I'm not the professional here. But since virtual cam is now built into obs it's probably on the source code. For you to remove that button you'd probably have to make your own version of obs

#

And if you remove it you're just removing where it would locate the file and since the file can't be found it's going to throw up an error

solid shoal
#

it was a separate download for the plugin

#

with an installer

#

uninstalled

#

using uninstall program

#

i look like a tard now

visual lantern
#

... Why did you install it twice?

solid shoal
#

no no no

#

youre confusing me now

#

when i started using obs

#

i had to get a virtual cam plugin

#

off github somewhere

visual lantern
#

Are you using the latest version

solid shoal
#

i updated my obs

#

and it fked itself

#

so aparently it IS built in noiw

visual lantern

Well I would suggest again, completely uninstall your obs, check the box that make sure that you keep all of your data for your scenes and then reinstall obs. And it will come with virtual cam built in already

One thing that has always annoyed me about OBS and loom is that I can't record videos in a take-by-take way. As a result, I must post-edit each of my videos in a video editing program just to merge all the single clips.

quiet bramble
#

It's probably also worthwhile pointing out that dozens of people have problems installing StreamFX every day, and in 99.9% of the cases it is because they did not carefully read the release notes of StreamFX and pay close attention to what version of OBS is mandatory required for the given release of StreamFX, or they do not install it properly. Another problem I've seen a few times now is someone using OBS from the portable mode zip file but not actually configuring portable mode as required, so they're not actually using portable mode, but they're installing the plugins into the unzipped directory and OBS isn't looking there for the plugins as it is not being ran in portable mode properly. Less likely to be the issue for most people but I've seen it 3 times now in less than 2 weeks so thought I'd mention that too.

#

One can generally find the solution by simply reading any one of the last 50 or so support requests in StreamFX discord, which are all essentially every single person having the exact same problem.

quiet bramble
polar hazel
obsidian agate
polar hazel
#

oh okay

obsidian agate

#

#

mb mb

obsidian agate
#

it doesnt help that the StreamFX release entries are inconsistant with compatibility info (the table appears in the 164 entry, but not the 151 entry).

In addition, I noticed the installer is very picky with where it needs to be pointing to when installing to a Portable OBS. You cannot just target the Portable Install folder, you have to point at the plugins folder specifically

quiet bramble
#

While the table does appear to be missing from the 151 release, sadly it seems the majority of users do not read the release notes or compatibility information anyway resulting in a steady stream of people unable to get the software installed and working every day in the StreamFX discord. I'm not sure any documentation changes would change this to be honest.

#

Also, the top of the release notes of the development releases have a big huge warning to not use it in production and that it should only be used for testing in isolated conditions, with a disclaimer of warranty, functionality etc. and that it comes with no support.

#

It's unfortunate that there is no stable release of StreamFX for OBS 28.x, but it's also at the same time very understandable.

#

IMHO before people ever update OBS, they should research what plugins they are using or want to use and make sure they are compatible with the OBS release they want to upgrade to first. That's unrealistic to expect though as people are given a popup notification, and even though it warns them, I believe the majority of people discount such warnings with software in general and just upgrade things and hope for the best, and probably get good results with most software most of the time so they tend to not worry about problems.

#

So things are kind of set up in such a way that some number of people will ultimately get themselves in a bind because people have a greater tendency to not read things, or underestimate warnings etc. It's human nature.

#

Hopefully the plugin manager in the future will alleviate a lot of these sort of problems though.

#

I think another problem, is that it's easy to envision solutions that would be ideal for end users for all of these sort of issues, but the ideal situation for end users would be a heck of a lot of effort IMHO to do in terms of not only improving the experience of finding, installing and updating/managing plugins and other tools, but also the work that would be needed to avoid compatibility issues between releases completely (if that's even possible). I don't think the incentives are there for a utopian situation like that though, and especially with volunteer driven OSS projects.

#

"Only the latest release is supported" is thus a common thing throughout OSS landscape as doing more than that scales up overhead on developers/projects beyond what they're incentivized to do.

#

I think things will improve over time though too, they always seem to. 🙂

obsidian agate
#

things dont have to be Utopian. I look at it from the web design, and really the Printing Industry, idea of "Above the Fold".

#

cant change human nature, only what you do in response to it

quiet bramble
#

I agree

#

Depends on motivation and incentive which varies from person to person too though.

How do you fix this? How do you get the VR Capture to fit the canvas?

sonic frost
#

The Open VR Capture plugin is generally considered deprecated. It's not gotten any updates and has a known memory leak.

Either will capture any overlays.

#

The only way to capture ONLY the VR application is to Game Capture the VR application itself.

obsidian agate
# smoky barn How do you fix this? How do you get the VR Capture to fit the canvas?

you have a few options...

  1. Leave the VR capture as is, and fill in the empty space with content. Channel info, web cam of you wearing the VR headset, VTuber avatar, social media info, etc. Kinda like what I do with my Ring Fit broadcasts to fit all of my cameras in frame

  2. Squish/stretch the VR capture to fit the whole 1080p canvas area (Shift Drag the red border instead of Alt-Dragging) Shift drag is stretch/squish. Alt-Drag is crop.

  3. Make the VR capture overflow the canvas and only show a section of it

#
  1. what CailanVR is suggesting 🙂
#

in regards to option 1 :

sonic frost
#

It's legitimately plug and play.

#

YOu run it, game capture the LIV output, you're golden.

smoky barn

I only record VR, I do not stream it for obvious reasons (aka, old hardware that cannot stream it unless I replace it with something exotic so to speak).

sonic frost

LIV simply is a suite of VR content creation tools.

smoky barn
#

Last I checked also, it looked very poor.

#

i.e., it was kinda pixelated

sonic frost
#

When was the last you looked?

#

I only suggest it as a simple solution

#

If you want to do something without LIV, simply pop out the STeamVR VR View, put it on a second monitor, and game capture it.

#

Or if you don't have a second monitor, simply open it at the same resolution as your canvas, even if it goes offscreen game capture will successfully capture the full thing.

If you can jump into Growling Sidewinders server and prove that he is not using his headset at all to record VR, then ok cool, but, I'll remain on solid ground until then.

sonic frost
smoky barn
#

It is not possible to record games in VR on a phone as his specs include a 3080Ti.

sonic frost

Okay, I don't think you're being purposely dense, I think you legitimately do not understand what we are saying.

He compares the phones 48mp camera to the lenses of the Pimax there.

sonic frost

So I'm just going to disengage because you clearly do not seem to understand that you can record a screen with a camera, and that VR headsets are just screens with lenses.

smoky barn

Yeah, everyone in Growling's server is agreeing with me that he compared his phone to his headset.

#

And therefore definitely used his PC to record the VR.

hard jay
#

I think you're talking about something completely different than they are.

smoky barn
#

Yeah, GS (short for Growling Sidewinder), never used his phone which is, don't get me wrong, a computer itself, but, again, he definitely recorded VR and I need to know how to do exactly the same.

Without using anything 3rd party as the stuff has only ever worked against me, not going to lie.

In the video they linked, they didn't record directly from the headset.

#

They used a camera pointed at the VR headset lens. Either a webcam, or DSLR camera.

#

That is not direct VR capture, though there is a plugin for OBS that will allow you to do direct VR capture if that's your goal.

#

OpenVR Capture.

Should work for most VR headsets.

sonic frost

It's generally considered deprecated, and usually most in the VR community recommend using LIV, SteamVR's VR View, or Oculus Mirror.

You can see the physical lens in all those clips.

That doesn't show up in actual VR capture directly from the headset.

# hard jay I'm baffled by the argument that they didn't do that

Ok I've come from the other discord (against my better judgement I may add) to clear some things up as people seem very confused, for good reason. It appears soulend here is trying to record his VR mirror. I suggested that there was OBS plugins as an option, and he's ended up here to try and figure out what's what. Somewhere along the line, the ONLY video that Growling Sidewinder has on his channel about VR that isn't a recording of a desktop mirror or DCS Replay system, got linked, and got everyone involved very confused.

hard jay
#

The confusion was lack of listening, mostly :p We got to the actual conclusion and what the actual question was. Seems it was just an unfortunate exception that was linked as the example.

grim dawn
#

After having another look I'm almost 100% certain that the videos he's trying to recreate are played in VR, but then recorded afterwards on flatscreen using the DCS replay system (which saves head movement)

The video linked was recorded by pointing a camera at the VR headset itself, not a monitor.

Just a heads up by the way- the OpenVR Capture plugin is considered deprecated. It has been left unupdated for quite some time, and has a known memory leak that takes place if the source is active but no VR applications are running. So for the most part, it's generally recommended to use either SteamVR's VR View, Oculus Mirror, the VR application itself if it has a desktop view, or LIV. The plugin is usually avoided.

You'd simply add an offset to the uv coordinates that gets passed to the texture sampler, reading pixels at an offset from the actual pixel. You'd need something to generate the offset, whether it was something like perlin noise or some other noise generator, or something region aware or whatnot.

#

image.Sample( textureSampler, v_in.uv.xy + offset.xy); with something generating the offset prior to that.

GLSL ES (shadertoy style) transpiler when? 😏

quiet bramble
#

That might be possible some day. I stumbled upon Shadertoy support for DaVinci resolve, and also Blender which I bookmarked a while back. Both OSS projects on Github IIRC, so that code could probably be convoluted into an OBS plugin sometime, and in theory possibly even support multipass/buffer shaders from Shadertoy, which would be pretty cool.

#

I still need to nerd-up my plugin game tho. 😛

#

Those might require OpenGL though, so that could be tricky without OBS in OpenGL mode on Windows.

#

I think if I played around with that, I'd probably do it in Linux

analog ruin
#

Yeah, I got it working in Resolve, and a little python-ffmpeg script, which I am quite happy with.
I looked into several transpiler projects but its.. Apparently pretty hard 😅

quiet bramble
#

Yeah, that level of stuff is a bit over my head ATM. Xaymar could probably do that sort of thing if he was into the idea though, he seems very knowledgeable in that area.

#

It just occurred to me, and I'd have to search to verify it to be certain... but I think Magic music visualizer has OpenGL shader support that includes Shadertoy support which can be used between OBS with Spout

#

It's not open source, nor free, but is something one could explore... I bookmarked it for possible future nerdout.

#

Yep, I just checked and can confirm Magic supports Shadertoy and GL Sandbox shaders directly.

#

Something like that might also be helpful as a tool in creating similar feature for an OBS plugin.

There are some other WebGL sites out there also like Shaderoo, shader.how, nodetoy

Hi, I as wondering if I could get some help with the Source Record Plugin.

Unfortunately when it is installed to OBS it causes my system sounds to cut in and out.

When it is not installed to OBS everything works fine as normal for the last however long I have used OBS.

Things I have tried;

  • Downloading the Installer Zip
  • Manual Install and putting the files in the correct place (even double checked with guides to ensure correct placement)
  • Fresh OBS Install
  • Running OBS in non-Admin Mode and Admin Mode (as i normally would)
  • Changing audio sources

This is a great and highly rated plugin that I would love to utilise.

# mortal harbor hey can someone help me with streamFX? I tried to install it, just as the tutori...

StreamFX has specific OBS version requirements for each release, both stable, alpha, and betas. The most common problem people have installing StreamFX and getting it to work, is installing a StreamFX version that is not compatible with their OBS release. The release notes for each StreamFX release indicate the required version of OBS Studio that must be used. At the present time there is no stable release of StreamFX for OBS 28.x, and the last stable release only works with OBS 27.2.4. There is an unsupported alpha build of StreamFX which is not recommended for production or serious use that is built for OBS 28.x, and the most recent beta of StreamFX only works with OBS Studio 29.0.0beta2 and newer.

mortal harbor

There is only one other that I'm aware of presently, which is the gaussian blur shader found in OBS Shaderfilter, however it is unoptimized and doesn't come close to the number of features that the StreamFX Blur filter has, but it does work. Also, whether you use StreamFX or the OBS Shaderfilter blur shader, you can greatly reduce the burden on your GPU by putting an OBS Scaling/Aspect filter before the blur effect and scaling down to 1/3 resolution, then put the blur filter/shader, then put another Scaling/Aspect filter after the blur set to "Scale to Canvas". With the first scale filter set to 1/3 of the resolution, it will reduce the burden on the GPU to 1/9th, which can make a massive performance difference, while also helping blur a bit.

I’m not real sure where to ask this and I hope I can make it make sense. On my stream I spin a wheel and put my viewers in a “team” and they all compete to get the most points for said team. hey @weak escarp !

This is rob from the production team at PleasrDAO. We are currently producing a fairly large professional live show and we rely heavily on MacOS and your move transition plugin to operate out streams.

We are trying to reaching out to see if there is a way you can update your "Move Transition" plugin to be compatible with Apple Silicon chips.

We would be willing to pay to expedite the development and we are hoping you have time to prioritize this request because "Move Transition" is the most important plugin in our core workflow and enables everything we do in our production.

We are currently forced to use Intel Macs due to "Move Transition" being the only plugin we use that hasn't been updated for apple silicon and our Intel Macs are really struggling to handle the load of our livestreams. Updating the plugin would allow us to move fully to apple silicon computers and unlock a ton of power.
