Okay I increased the bitrate from 10000 to 16000 and I dont see a difference. I'm not trying to change from advanced to simple in case it messes with my other settings. Can i upload a clip so you can see the specific type of like quality drop off thats happening?

okay will changing to simple affect anything

With your hardware, you don't need Advanced mode.

#

Simple mode is an automatic transmission in your car. Advanced is manual transmission, per axle, on an 18 wheeler. You have to know what each setting does. And CBR is not recommended for recordings.

grand crystal

Right now it is downscaling to 720p, which will look worse if you try to watch it filling your display.

Due to a change in the way Roblox works, OBS Studio's Game Capture source is unable to capture it. As a workaround, please use Window Capture instead:

  1. add a new Window Capture source
  2. select Roblox from the window list
  3. change the Capture Method to "Windows 10"

On Windows 10, you will see a yellow border around the game which cannot be disabled. This is not visible in your stream and can be ignored (use the `!yellow` command for more info).

like do you need to do a weird process of starting recording after you open application or something

okay thank you ill try those. otherwise the feature should be seemless right? like whenever i make something fullscreen game capture should just pick it up

#

@near rose - sorry to ping you ^

#

It should if it's not one of those previously mentioned games, if you don't have a conflicting app, and it's a proper game that works with game capture

So here's something I need to ask

#

I have an RTMP server on my computer

#

I'm trying to connect it to my OBS

#

One issue, connections time-out, probably owing to firewall issues

#

How do I use custom RTMP servers for streaming and how do I fix the firewall issues

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some help dialing in my OBS setup for PC gaming. I’m streaming the new game 007 First Light and trying to play in ultrawide while outputting a clean 16:9 stream. I’m running into aspect‑ratio stretching issues on stream even though the game looks perfect on my monitor.
I’m expanding my channel (Pewter Crunchy) into more PC gaming content, so I want to make sure my OBS setup is correct before I continue.

#

Here are my system specs:
• CPU: Intel i7‑12700KF
• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti (12GB VRAM)
• RAM: 32GB DDR5 @ 4800 MT/s
• Monitor: Gigabyte M34WQ — 3440×1440 ultrawide (21:9), 144Hz
• OS: Windows 11 Home 25H2
• GPU Driver: Game Ready 610.47 (released May 26, 2026)
I’m playing the game at 3440×1440 and trying to stream at 2560×1440 (16:9).

#

OBS Video Settings:
• Base Canvas: 3440×1440
• Output Resolution: 2560×1440
• Downscale Filter: Lanczos (36 samples)
• FPS: 60
OBS Output (NVENC):
• Encoder: NVENC H.264
• Bitrate: 13,500 Kbps
• Rate Control: CBR
• Keyframe: 2
• Preset: P5 (Quality)
• Multipass: Full Resolution
• Tuning: High Quality
• Look‑ahead: Off
• AQ: On
Game Capture:
• Mode: Capture any fullscreen application
• Anti‑cheat hook: Enabled
• Capture overlays: Enabled
Everything else seems stable — no encoding overload, no dropped frames, and my internet is wired and strong.

#

The only issue I’m running into is that the stream looks stretched or incorrectly framed when I’m playing in ultrawide.
The game is 21:9, but the stream output is 16:9.
I’ve tried:
• Fit to Screen
• Center to Screen
• Cropping manually
• Letting OBS auto‑scale
But the aspect ratio still looks off. It’s either stretched horizontally or vertically depending on how I adjust it.
I want to play in ultrawide but stream in proper 16:9 without distortion.

#

Could someone help me figure out the correct way to frame or crop a 3440×1440 game source so it outputs cleanly at 2560×1440 without stretching?
I’m also open to recommendations for:
• Best OBS settings for PC gaming with a 4070 Ti
• Whether I should use a crop filter vs. transform
• Whether I should change my canvas resolution
• Any known issues with ultrawide → 16:9 scaling
• Any tricks for preserving sharpness when downscaling

#

Here’s a link to a recent stream so you can see the stretching issue in action:
https://youtube.com/live/YQJSVWPWwnE?feature=share
Everything else looks great — bitrate, clarity, motion — I just need help fixing the aspect ratio and making sure my OBS setup is fully optimized for PC gaming.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

#

you either need to output your stream in the 21:9 resolution or cut off some of what you see from what the stream will see

#

you'd crop both sides evenly to bring it down from 3440 width to 2560

high portal
#

I also changed the RGB10A2 Color Space to Rec. 2100 (PQ) which helped with making my stream look better with color

high portal
#

Is that the better solution?

outer plover
#

at least sync the aspect ratios of those

high portal
#

Great, thanks! I’m new to streaming PC games but have done my NS2, so I wasn’t sure how to set up ultra-wide output for YouTube or how that works. Should I use the game capture source, or is it better to capture the display from my monitor?

outer plover
#

Display capture uses the most resources, game capture uses the least

When using a Display Capture or Window Capture source with the "Windows 10 (1903 and up)" method, you will have a yellow border surrounding the portion of the screen being captured. Unfortunately, this border cannot currently be removed on Windows 10.

You can try using another capture method in the source properties, but it's possible this will instead produce a black screen. We automatically disable the yellow border on Windows 11 as Microsoft allows us to.

It is only visible to you, and it will not show up on stream or in recordings.

But it sounds like Game Capture is better as well

Game capture is always preferred for games.

Game Capture > Window Capture > Display Capture

Everyone for helping and your advice.

Do my current settings feel accurate also?

Hey guys ! I'm having a problem with my OBS not responding after every trouble shooting. Nothing is fixing my problem. I have a feeling it might be something to do with the stream elements plug in maybe?
