People in the Bay Area (CA) are cashing out their homes and buying near me in the State Capitol, getting basically the same size homes as they had in the Bay Area for half the price. Prices start going up, and these cash buyers tend to push out first time buyers. Also means, cash buyers don't need loads, so the banks don't make money even though homes are being sold.

SImilar examples in other metro areas. I used that one because I lived in both places and experienced it first hand, the real estate transactions.

Inflation doesn't always factor in that much, considering time of investment. On average, people don't have a chance to pay off their mortgage for a first home before they out-grow it or need to move and buy a new home. So that's another factor. It really depends on one thing: What you do with your money or your asset right now. Otherwise, all these asset values and potential profit/loss is only on paper.
Nothing is realized until you actually have a transaction.

okay, the bestheda port of quake1 on steam ("original" launch option did not work) uncapped fps is ~300-400 while shooting in the demo

truth be told, the o.g. quake 1 is probably capped at 70fps or something due to being written for msdos and using vga modes, so I guess that's true. I think a very vanilla source port that has the original software renderer but isn't limited to an msdos video mode and is able to directly export images for capture (like joequake for example) will probably tear through at ridiculous amounts of fps though

I've trained my eye to higher frame rates.. even 60 fps looks choppy to me now
I'm just frame interpolating a lot of the even 60 fps content to 120 to get smooth "gifs" within Discord
the thing is, when something is smol, the frame rate difference isn't always that noticeable.. so... 60 kind of works quite well if the viewing size is smol enough...

I'm still comfortable with 60fps, but definitely have perceptual awareness of it not feeling real in certain FPS game situations mostly. It's "acceptable" feeling still most of the time, but I do see/feel that "fast slideshow" vibe. On the laptop which is 120Hz I definitely feel that less, but often cap my games to 60fps for OBS, unless I'm certain they'll provide consistent 120+ and cap it to 120.

I've been on the slow side to adopt > 60fps min for gaming. My next major monitor upgrade cycle (probably in 5+ years), I'll probably pick up 3 identical 144+Hz displays and lock them to the closest multiple of 60Hz.

eh... I can definitely notice pretty significant differences even with it only filling 1/60th of the screen

sure, it's more obvious when you fill the screen up more but even just 1/60th of it being filled.. I can tell between 60 and 120 pretty easily
but it depends on the specific movements.. I think actually medium speed movements are the most noticeable, interestingly.. too fast and my eye can't track it anyway... too slow and the frame rate increase won't do much

of course, this is 60 interpolated to 120... so it's not.. quite the same as actual 120
actually, I find interpolated movement to appear smoother than real frames.. but.. I can definitely say it's not just me seeing interpolation and being "ooooo, I like that look".. 60 does look just slightly choppy
