Get this... I spilled boiling water on my foot back in 2016 and had a serious injury that needed surgery. The wound healed but skin was like leather and lost the nerve endings. It hasn't caused any problems in years so I don't think about it but I just had an itchy foot and scratched it to realize... the skin has fully healed and feels normal again and the nerve endings there are working again. WTF

It like almost completely healed. I don't even know when as I never noticed it before. LOL It's not like I touch my feet every day or anything.

All the scar tissue is gone, this is crazy

hmm, okay.. I think all the audio is there... but just sped up... there's only 9 hours 20min of audio but 9 hours 50min of video... putting them together made it obvious what is happening...

so yeah, steamrecorder.io squeezed the 9 hours 50 minutes down to 9 hours 20 minutes.. huh...

Personally, with text in image editors, OBS, video editors, I prefer to scale the font size for the best rasterization as it is rasterized to the pixel size, getting proper scaling, hinting, anti-aliasing etc. Taking rastered text and scaling it up or down as a bitmap image produces artifacts and lower quality

It's one of the reasons why many releases ago OBS increased the size of the default font IIRC, as it was much smaller and people would add a text overlay, then scale it up with transform, causing ugly pixelization instead of increasing the font size, which avoids that issue.

What would be cool is if such apps like OBS, video editors etc. were aware of a source/object/layer/whatever being scaleable text and overrode the transform scaling to scale the font size instead of the bitmap. Too complex I suspect but it'd be a nice UI enhancemenet to do that.

Still could be an issue at say 160p, but I think there are tradeoffs one has to make also when delving into the sub 480p realm.

IMHO, the important things are "How important is it for this text to be present at all", "How important is it that it be readable, and on what physical size and resolution of display at what distance?"

And if it is in motion/animating, how fast, and is it a visual effect more than something to be fixated on reading.

Or at least that is how I approach such things.

Honestly though, the top AMD card right now is the 7900XTX which is in between a 4080 and 4090 in raster performance, and below 4080 in ray tracing, and that's the best AMD has to offer from 1.5 years ago until now. It's already known that AMD's next generation RDNA4 has had its top die cancelled which means there will not be an equivalent tier card from AMD this year, which would have been the 8900XTX or 8900XT. The top AMD chip will be the 8800XT basically (whether AMD calls it that or calls it something else for marketing purposes).

So NVIDIA will have the 4090 from last gen beating AMD outright, and the 4080 beating AMD at ray tracing, AI/ML, and now also have the 5080 beating AMD's 7900XTX and coming close to 4090 in performance but probably not beating it, and the 5090 probably beating the 4090 by 50%.

NVIDIA has no competition in the high end to bother lowering the price of any of their cards at all. They will cut production on the 4000 series cards and sell them at existing prices until they are sold out, and probably introduce the 5090 at +300-500 higher than the existing price of the 4090, which is already $400 above MSRP

From a business perspective NVIDIA has no reason to ever lower the price of the 4090.

If anything they'll raise the price of it.

Amd RTX 7900XT or XTX version is great value for money but the only reason i went with nvidia is for gpu dual encoding.
I mean Av1 encoding felt good on nvidia and ray tracing perfomance,nvidia reflex,Rtx voice,Dlsss , nvidia framegeneration

Doubt they'll come down in used market over time. If anything demand probably will go up. You never know though, could get lucky. But then possibly have to deal with the fire hazard power connector, or getting a card labelled as a 4090 that someone put a 3080 chip (same pin compatibility) in, and laser etched to make it look like 4090 (videocardz has article of this happening), or other nightmare scenarios. I'm sure a lot of people get good deals on used stuff like that and aren't scammed but there are way too many scams/fraud out there for my taste. 🙂

Just speculation but I think NVIDIA could make it whatever they want, but that for business profit reasons it'd be in their best interest to make it faster than anything AMD has, which is the 7900XTX, but not quite as fast as the 4090, so somewhere right in between, which would make it like 10% slower than a 4090 or so. That'll probably be $1200USD like the 4080 was.

It will probably work in GIMP fine on my laptop I imagine once an updated plugin is available and GIMP 3 is a thing. Right now most cool fancy GIMP stuff is all source code only, compile it yourself after compiling GIMP 3 dev version yourself, so I'll be waiting for something more official on that front.

The issue I was running into a while ago was when I would record or stream with obs, after 15 to 20 minutes suddenly all the audio except for my microphone will be doubled up. It would happen for about 45 seconds and it would make the audio during that time completely unusable. It turns out that a beta audio option through obs, through a separate download was clashing with my installed audio mixer. The recent update with OBS has completely rectified this problem. I produced a video and release it to YouTube, instructing those who would wish to have separate audio channels through obs with the most recent update.
