It's crazy how many different solutions there are for alerts and notifications and stuff while streaming

There a MANY options. From what I've seen people choose one based on one or two things they want to do and just stick with it. I started with Streamlabs Desktop and the SL cloud bot. Moved to the locally installed alert bot for SL and working on moving to streamer.bot due to it's flexibility and customization.

gotcha 🙂 When you stream - focus on the people that are there. Sometimes there won't be anyone. Still talk / chat as if someone was there. It helps to overcome the hesitancy to stream.

If you're streaming or recording at 60 FPS this only needs to stay below 16.6 ms, minor differences like 1ms vs 3ms or whatever are totally negligible and not worth worrying about

The old VirtualCam plugin might still work if you want to try it or if you need more than one virtual camera, but since it's integrated to OBS now the old plugin version is unsupported and you're on your own for support if something doesn't work

And of course you can always uninstall it too, if needed

thanks for this all informations, i know all of these. i already can use my camera where ever i want. the point was to use less cpu and tested it. thanks to you i figured out what the devices there means and all i was wondering is the cpu usage. i know it is okay but every feature i do add to obs is consuming more and more cpu so it was for me more important to improve the cpu usage if it is posible. i did not ask it especially for ome.tv but that guy just manipulated me like a pro. lol.

I think we'd probably prefer if you didn't recommend using the old unsupported version of the plugin, since it's old and unsupported and built in to OBS already. If the virtual cam alone generates that much extra CPU load then either something is wrong or the system is likely underpowered in the first place

if u create a scene like named cam and u setup it on ur cam and later on the virtual cam setup here in this screenshot u select in the output type Scenes and in the Output selection u select the scene named like cam so u can use ur virtual cam in discord etc

it used to be 60Hz in the black-and-white days, but to implement colour TV and maintain compatibility they did some fuckery and slowed the signal down by 1/1000th of a second

and we continue to live with this fuckery to this day

the worst part though about fractional frame rates is all the equipment and software that uses it but displays the rounded-up number

so a lot of the times you don't know if you're dealing with 23.976/29.97/59.94 or 24/30/60

also just last night I found the worst offender in this, going the other direction: nvidia will happily tell you 23(.000) fps while it's actually outputting 23.976

Laptop is 120, desktop is set to that but most games I cap at 60 for smooth OBS recording/streaming, unless the game would do high enough to get a solid 120, but I'll still only record/stream it capped at 60. Only ancient games run 120 reliably enough so for the most part I'm using it at 60 most of the time. 🙂

It's one of those "You can have a higher frame rate and lower input latency, or you can have smooth judderless video recordings, you can only choose one, pick what you prefer." things that send a lot of people into a "BUT WHYY????" rage. I'm good. 😛

The reason the odd decimal refresh rates exist is due to legacy reasons from the changeover from black and white television to color television.

It's a pretty complex historical reason at this point but basically simplified the television electronics to make color tv possible without breaking black and white television.

Wife spent about 5 yrs coordinating transport for shelter animals to fosters and forever homes. Most animals were in "high kill" shelters. She would spend the entire weekend communicating with the volunteer drivers. Sometimes the animals would be on the road for 8-10 hours a day being handed off to driver after driver. We also rehabilitated a few dogs here with ours. At one point we had 8 large dogs in the house and they all got along great. We have a climate controlled room in the garage where the animals would stay for a bit while we worked with them - sometimes sleeping in the room for weeks on end. It wasn't always easy but seeing pictures of these animals in happy homes really made it worth it.

I discovered that Cyberpunk 2077 is the first game that I've seen to date that WILL use more than 8 cores if you have them. It will use my entire 16-core CPU, and I did a whackload of performance testing from 4 to 16 cores in various configurations across the 2 CCDs to see how performance varied.

I was impressed with CDPR for that after I did tonnes of testing. But the game's optimal overall configuration to no surprise is being locked onto a single 8-core CCD. The avg FPS drops by about 1-2% versus 16 cores, max FPS drops to about 2/3, but the min FPS almost doubles.

i got the aorus one which features dp2.1. DSC for the most part isn't a problem, I don't like it due to capture cards refusing to work on DSC so it helps future proofing (although future proofing with an OLED is a bit misguided)

I've have a twisted mindset about this. Their problem isn't driving, it's drinking. So give people a drinking "license". Take points from that and if you don't have one or it's been revoked by the state, then you can't drink. Even simple offenses will cost "points". So I have a 'hack' I am working on that will get us WHIP support in discord

I am gonna release a browser extension

where you start a WebRTC session in FireFox/Chrome

and it overrides the RTCPeerConnection

and instead sends the Offer/Answer to another process running on your PC

so you can use any webrtc thing (like OBS!)

It will also make it possible to use a native desktop client with Hangouts etc...
