So, I'm pretty big into Sharks, fell in love with them after seeing Jaws as a kid, even got a White Shark tooth of my own. So I thought I'd make a post on the errors of the sexual diamiprhism and errors within Megaldons. I'm going to be making some assumptions about white shark behavior based around the hte behavior of it's closest living relative, the lamnadiforms, partiuclarly the Mako shark (belived it's closest relative) and the great white shark which occupies a similer ecological niche.
So first of all, to get the obvious out of the way, the female Meg SHOULD be bigger then the male Meg. (honestly I'd lean into that with most lagoon species)
Moving aside from that, the models are also wrong for male Megs in one of the most basic ways. Let;'s examine that for a moment. with the linked pictures you can see the female and Megaldon are at the tail, largely the same. . But a male shark should have claspers.
But ok let's move into BEHAVIOR now instead of "fish dicks" assuming the females are larger, white sharks are behaving wrong, right now we have a "1 male and however females" to the enclosure" situation. But in reality (well in reality we'd never be able to keep a Meg in captivity but I digress) it should actually be a more matriarchal situation, with one large breeding female and several males competing for breeding rights with her. as such we should have an issue with too many females in the tank instead. Anyway just some late night musings when I've had ENTIRELY too much caffine
