Mario on the Dolphin Dasher is the "Sport bike" category. You can see he's bent forwards as all inward-drifting bikes have, which streamlines the Dolphin Dasher and Mario with the ability to do inward drifting. I don't think any of the characters in the trailer had a sports bike, but do correct me if I'm wrong!

With Mario on the Bon Bon/Sugarscoot, that's a standard bike position, with Mario sitting upwards. This is used for outside drifting bikes in Wii and 8, but I don't think that's what Peach was on!

I think Peach was on a lay-back bike, where you could see she was kinda laid back against her seat, and these were used for HEAVY outside drifting bikes!

You can see Wario in the Wario Bike laying back that's also seen with the Shooting Star, and they were both really cool vehicles, so to see the lay-back bikes return from Wii (they weren't in 8 at all, only sports and standard bikes)!

So, with this HP system that may be in the next MK with pit stops, I reckon an Arcade GP feature could get some spotlight to help people just not explode instantly

#

In Arcade GP, when you drifted, you'd get a shield on you that would completely prevent you from getting hit by items

#

What I'm thinking is basically what if they brought back drift shields BUT it wouldn't actually protect you from getting hit by items

#

Instead, what the drift shield would do is that should you get hit by an item while drifting, you'll still spin out, but the HP you'd lose would get halved

#

This comes at the risk of drifting to beg the shield would potentially put you in an awkward position once the incoming hit is over, but it'd be a great way to prevent people from just losing a race instantaneously due to bad luck (and by that, I mean just exploding on lap 1 because the fucker behind you pulled a Fire Flower)

#

And plus, drifting would naturally weaken your tyres, so it then becomes a choice of tanking the hit or trying to keep your HP up

Something I really wish the next MK did with retro tracks is kinda do what Sonic Mania did to the returning levels

#

For example, in Sonic Mania, Sandopolis Zone from Sonic 3 isn't in Mania, but Mania's rendition of Oil Ocean Zone from Sonic 2 takes the ghost gimmick from Sandopolis Zone Act 2 and applies it to a more relevant gimmick that fits Oil Ocean's theming

#

For example, let's say they bring back GCN Mushroom City

They could bring back the camera changes and flattening from Wii Moonview Highway

#

Another example, I'm currently doing a concept remake of GBA Broken Pier, and I'm incorporating gimmicks from the SNES Ghost Valley tracks, such as short quick reaction jumps that aren't really used the same as they were in GBA Broken Pier

mnm seems to not really be the case but Im sure R.O.B helped at least in the west: market only crashed for home video game consoles in the west as the Famicom was already out in Japan at this point and was a critical success and pc games were able to hold on because PCs could do other things besides play games unlike the 2600 or intellivision even if more expensive.
