there were times when i made props i had to like, (before i learn to uv unwrap myself) where i had to use those clone stamp in painter and try to blend the seams together to hide it π

as in, hidden/not often seen sides have a lower density

anybody know how to deal with certain faces not baking correctly? I don't really understand what the problem is
that's the normal map view but it happens on everything except for curvature, thickness and position

nope, it's packed and either way it'd have artifacting instead of missing baking

apparently had something to do with the fact they were ngons

i made a series of connected faces through this image as a reference then once i did that then i did inset and checked individual faces
so its inset, then seperate them into individual faces
basically just one huge connected face that makes up the shape of the matrix then inset and check individual faces, then delete the edges that are quads
so you painstakingly adjust every vertices to the perfect position
or did you use the font for the

yeah, i did manage to somehow optimize mines, with just using decimate modifer in blender
the normal map helps me with the rest of the details
gotta say the 3ds max prooptimizer which is blender's decimate is crazy good
yeah it is REALLY handy
it doesn't seem deformed even at like 5% of the original
if you want to optimize it while retaining the original look
in blender it starts to look deformed at around 25%

get subdivided plane and run cloth simulation on it with the colliding object being a cylinder and pause it when it looks good then apply the simulation
it's not hard but it's just pausing it when it looks good and adjusting it to look the best

also, every prop should be a mesh because it simply just looks better and you get more creative freedom
even some parts of the architecture can be meshes
you can also optimize things that way like removing faces, having less sides on certain things and other things

couple of things
- make it modular, i.e. a long, short, tiny, start, and end meshes to make it more adaptable to any environment
- if you're really that far over the limit for stairs, then I believe your issue would be any cylinders you made. go as little as possible for the side count, then shad it smooth to make it look round. you can go down to as little as 3 faces and still have it look good
Id say rather 6 faces is better since when you look at it from the front, it'll look like a triangle
But it depends on use
Sometimes I use 3 and sometimes 12

(already fixed it BTW, currently kinda redoing the code to just use multiple loops instead until i figure out a better way to make annuciators)

on god everyone say that and i admit

but it is true, also it is harder to build in qserf style for me, snl building style is easy to adapt
to be fair the orgin F-9 remaster was a recreation is just the same area like in QSERF
SNL style is modern so it don't need much detail
QSERF is a different story since it dark, bricks, old style
fully concrete
but when i saw your remake for the first time i thought it is built by someone from SST

but in qserf theres a lot of small details that are really hard to do
to be fair that style isn't the hardest but they make it feel alive with the small details

btw if u didnt fully understand red faces are the faces that are pointing inside and the blue faces are the faces that are pointing inside

turn on backface culling and you'll see the same result that you'll see in roblox
also usually this is fixed by just hitting shift + N to recalculate normals (feels faster than going into menus like in that vid)
