Dumb question, is there a chance the SSD is bent? Are you able to easily visually inspect it?
I ask because this board has a habit of bending m.2's

I then relized i needed to add that plastic spacer to keep it from bending

Imo, it would not be unethical to return it
and I would try the other slot first
You don't know that you broke it, infact the chances are slim.
It's just as likely it was DOA.
So I'd try the other slot first, make sure it's seated perfectly, and if that doesn't work, give it a return. (just say it doesn't work, don't elaborate).

Ok so I purchased a new m.2 as well as tried a friends m.2 drive. Both are not showing in the bios.
