little confused, would these be like a mask on other bricks
no, like canvas bricks where each half-microbrick of it can be coloured individually
i'm a little confused, it kinda sounds like you want to paint a section of a brick?
do you know what i mean by masking btw
functionally i feel like what you're asking for would be indistinguishable from a masking method https://imagekit.io/glossary/image-masking/
Learn more about image masking, different types of image masking, and their applications.
do you think you could like draw a mockup of what you're asking for?
cus i'm curious
and also still confused
not right now but uhh idk
its just like uhmm
a block that you can do pixel art on
one block, but its like a pixel art canvas
i really dont know how else to explain it its just a texturable brick
ah ok
kinda like the paint wall in the tutorial
but it's a brick
the devs have been pretty adamant about not getting rid of bevels so i wonder what they'd think about this idea
it would be kinda neat
i would definitely abuse it to hell to the point that nothing i'm making looks like bricks anymore
which is why i've always sort of furthered the "realistic stickers" idea cus it'd force some creative limitations
My first thought with this idea is the paintable signs from stormworks, they have once face where you can paint individual colors on, I think, an 8x8 grid. Although stormworks' blocks let you paint individual faces and even sub-regions of many bricks, so this wasn't a complicated feature for them to have added. Brickadia might be more tricky, especially in a way that keeps rendering fast
so basically like a grid of tiny microbricks? but as a single brick? seems sorta unnecesarry tbh
i mostly just wanna make textured stuff lol
Nothing is stopping you from that
the difference is that microbricks have bevels
incase y'all still havent understood
we're not getting (micro)bricks without bevels
the devs have been very adamant about that
indeed, but the benefit of this approach is it avoids bevel-free geometry
it would just be a multi-colored plane/cuboid
iirc the neon / glow material type removes bezels, unless I'm mistaken
But neon bricks dont get affected by shading
