#Spawned wire connections

Basically the title. Can't find any previous things similar(though i could have sworn i made a similar post several months ago. Can't find it now though).

With the upcoming prefab spawner, a tool that allows for passing data between disconnected objects would be more useful than ever. Something related to connecting spawned items would be secure, and allow for more designs than are currently possible

honestly idk why we can't just have wireless stuff with just server based frequencies to prevent harmful stuff, hell, even lock it to only work for only your placed gates so no one can mess with your stuff

like i wire something to a IN port on a transmitter-something gate with the password/channel "TEST" for example, and the signal will come out of any other transmitter's OUT port with the password/channel "TEST". Make it caps sensitive, allow numbers, symbols... Endless possibilities

If it was player based, multiple players could have the same password/channel on a gate but that way it'd only interact with their own gats with the same password/channel. no room for mistakes. Multiplayer builds? just make sure the In/out gates are both placed by the same person

What they have to solve with that, is someone placing a prefab down from the gallery that suddenly interacts with their stuff

Obviously if channels could be whatever string it would be somewhat rare that there is a collision, but placing something and effectively immediately giving it access to every frequency you’re using could be problematic

I feel like it shouldn't be categorized as being one of your gates since it's not a prefab you built but pasted

But then if it has a bunch of frequency out stuff that the player wants to use they have to go manually wire things up

I.e. you have a gas station that has an in frequency or something and you spawn someone else’s car that should be compatible but then it’s not because it wasn’t physically built by you

i'm just talking ab wireless "wiring". spawning prefabs with gates is different and already going to be doable judging by #dev-media message

They mentioned in the past that the reason they dont want to do it is because of interactions between loaded prefabs and your own stuff

but it can also be tweaked to remove said flaws while still being usable with other gates like ie: wireless channel OUT port > into gas station spawner > spawns prefab as if it was just a button wired into it

Oh, another idea is a pseudo reference that you have to initialize first

Like, not numeric transmission codes, but rather something like a reference that can be stored
