While you can play pre made music through speaker elements, I think we should also get the opportunity to have a simple, intuitive way to compose our own custom music using a special component brick that uses a premade soundfont like a classic midi or something. it works a bit like a microchip except it has a bar that will slide thru and play instrument gates. you can start it, stop it, reset it, and also read its progress thru its track so you can set up a system where it can loop songs at certain points so you can have boss phases or dynamic music that responds to changes in environment.

i understand people have already made rudimentary custom music using the existing elements and waveforms but I want a dedicated way to make music that doesn't rely on physics or wires too much since both are prone to their own issues that can make composing hard or limit what you can make.

physics based music strips for example may suffer from the usual blunders that any physics engine can suffer from, such as bugging out or getting caught or just not running like it should.

wire based sequencers can struggle with timing and just the fact you kinda have to build a lot of wiring to get it working in the first place, not to mention programming the music into it.

both suffer from the limitations of how much space they take up, and while microchips can condense a lot of stuff down for wiring, i still think the game needs a relatively accessible way for players to create custom music without having to be wiring wizards or be mechanically inclined.

plus it could make musical worlds a lot more lightweight in terms of wiring or physics objects when you can just paste in a static music sequencer component with a pre programmed song and just wire it up and play it.

that and if the devs do decide to go for a sequencer strip idea if they add a sequencer chip or sequencer functionality into the game, the music sequencer can just use that framework too
