#Host performance severely degrades as player count increases

hey folks, just a small report really. i run brickadia at near-100fps when playing alone, but whenever someone joins my server, it immediately drops to about 60 fps, with further drops as more people join. i don't recall experiencing this in the next fest demo. also, many of the players who join tend to report high updates per second.

as a note: the server is quite populated by this point, with over 260k bricks, 1.6k entities, 10k components and 9k wires, but even before it got to this point people were reporting constant updates, and that was at around 100k bricks. not really sure why this is happening but it might be related to the PHYSX errors? i have noticeable and dramatic framedrops on load with physx putting a bunch of log output in the console, but it settles soon after

i also experienced this, had about 60fps with 30 people in my server but when the playercount dropped back down to about 15 i was able to reach 240fps

There seems to be something wrong with player entities in general, even spawning a relatively small amount of NPCs will CPU bottleneck everyone on the server

#

My friend took me down to like 4 FPS on a private server once lol

Okay nevermind, separate issue lmao

you're right what the hell??

#

i spawned like 15 npcs and my FPS droppedfrom 100 to 75

-# Title is wrong then if this is the issue you're reporting, would be client performance

i hosted the server, aha

#

when i had more than 4 folks in my frames dropped to a miserable 40fps

ooff

spawning bots does in fact tank my FPS, but it took about 100 bots to get the same framerate drop as having 30 players on my server

Are there plans to address this in the long term or is it not really feasible?

there are always plans to optimize everything

but when I will get to it, who knows
