that looks really beautifully rendered and I'd love to see a comic in that style, but it might be too much to draw regularly without burning out considering how much time it looks like it took

I’m not a fan of the grotesque but it’s certainly going to stick in my mind for what that’s worth. I’d advise considering if you can preserve the art style whilst lowering the detail for most pages and having the occasional page which you go HAM on. It’s essentially how Japanese Anime works now because the times the artist(s) go HAM are the only ones which people can remember and they make for easy sharing on social-media.
Heck, someone once asked me if they should do their comic in colour or black & white and I said to try colouring only the bits that matter like blood, eyes, maybe a single part of the character’s design, so there’s loads of ways to have that weird, detailed style and also not destroy your wrists to hit a deadline.
