I just bought my first mic (Mackie EM-89D) and I think I messed up. I use a Mac that has no usb port, so I got an XLR - USBc converter thinking that I’d be able to use that, but when I plugged it in and changed my input, it was picking up no sound. I looked it up and saw something about usbc not being able to work with audio things. Do I need to get a Scarlett or something like that? I’m scared that wouldn’t work either because at the end of the day it still goes into a usbc port. Or would some type of DAC work? Idk I just need some help

I also want to spend the least amount of money possible without sacrificing too much quality of sound if possible
