#Based on my case, how long do you suppose I would take to find a job?

The sooner you start applying the sooner you get a job. No idea how long it'll take
nobody knows
depends on what ur resume looks like. depends on the job youre applying for. depends on the companies ur applying to. depends on location. depends on how many applications ur putting out. depends on how many interviews ur passing
could be anywhere from a few weeks to many months/years 🤷🏽♀️
a better question would be how you could improve your chances at finding a job and to that its
- make sure your resume is up to date and has been reviewed #973598253620789308
- if ur desperate/have no job requirements, then u should be applying any and everywhere
- if ur applying to big tech, ur gonna need to do leetcode
- work on behavioral skills as well and do mock interviews
- if ur experience is lacking then u will also need to work on projects to boost the resume more
Good points, @novel fjord & @tired flame
One additional question, do either of you think that the process will be smoother with the help of recruiters? Or do people typically only seek work via recruiters anyways?
i dont understand the question
usually ur going to be talking with a recruiter regardless when u apply and get past resume screens and stuff
if ur not talking to a recruiter ur probably talking to a hiring manager
I see how I was unclear, so lemme back up a step
One of the first things I learned about this industry is that most jobs aren't posted online, and that it's better to speak to a recruiter directly about openings
And I've seen that an advantage of cold mailing recruiters is that you don't have to necessarily wait a long time to hear back, vs. if you applied online
Given the advantages, I figured that most people don't bother applying online, and they speak directly to a human (the recruiter) first when they apply
i see
yeah i mean referrals are definitely helpful and if u are able to get them then 1000%. If you’re not like rushing to get a job then it can definitely be a worthwhile ROI if you reach out to people on linkedin to see if they can give u a referral or get in contact with a recruiter who is hiring for some teams. If you are going for big tech, definitely approach recruiters in the correct way because you are askijg THEM for a favor so make sure its easy on them. Have a nice, short and simple message with the link of a job posting that youre interested in and see if theyre open to a 5-10 coffee chat or something
