I'm having a very difficult time thinking of what I should do... mostly because I'm not too familiar with the field yet. I graduated a full-stack web dev bootcamp several months ago. Had a difficult time during the job search but eventually landed a job as a Web Developer and have been working for 5 months now. The only thing that bothers me is that I'm always wondering if I should still attend college to obtain a Computer Science degree. I'm 21 years old and I don't think it's too late to pursue college but is it worth trying to juggle my job and college at the same time? Is it worth it to pause my work and focus on school for a few years to study? I'm fairly confident I can obtain a better role like a Frontend/Backend or possibly Fullstack role after I get a bit more work experience. I don't really plan on switching fields so going to college would purely be for the Computer Science degree. My initial thought process graduating bootcamp and taking this job was to slowly advance through jobs starting with the first. I'm still mostly leaning to just relying on job experience as my friends are often telling me that I probably don't need college for software engineering. I've only been to college for a little bit so I'm honestly not even sure if college would be too difficult to pursue while working. I was thinking of doing community college for 2 years (to get all the prereqs - general ed stuff done) in a community college to at least get myself setup for a degree in the future. Though again I'm not sure how difficult that would be.
tldr
Basically, as a 21 year old full-stack bootcamp graduate who has been working for 5 months as a Web Dev, is it worth it to stop working to pursue a Computer Science degree while I still can? Or should I stick to obtaining work experience to obtain better roles. Am I overestimating the importance of a degree?
