Hey guys , I’m an electrician who’s been doing it about 2 1/2 years and I’m strongly considering a career change to tech for several reasons.

It was always something I was interested in and had kind of had a knack for but I guess I had a underachiever mindset when I was much younger and a HS graduate. I also thought I didn’t really fit the stereotype either but it’s stupid to think that matters.

I’m 24 now so I still have time to switch but my main obstacles are I’m not in a position to really go to college full time while trying to support myself and I don’t know what language or what type of work will most likely land me a first job if i get one at all.

There’s plenty of projects I’d enjoy working on but from all the research I did it seems app development is the most undermanned and in demand thing right now. I’m not sure how true that is or if it’s outdated information.

I’d do a boot camp but I know on a resume it’s still not comparable to a degree so i fully accept the fact I’d be paid way less than graduates starting out if I could even find that first job.

I know python , and I’m learning both Java and kotlin right now. I’m not sure which one would be the best to focus on for Android app development.

Thanks for any input.

Learn a bit of java like basics and OOP, no need to master it just to get basics foundation

#

Because kotlin is simplified form of java

#

And it will be easier to debug and just accelerate

#

Then switch to kotlin for android projects
