I graduated coding boot camp to become a full stack engineer several months ago. I’ve been working as a lower level position for around 3-4 months now. As a 21 year old I’m in between sticking with trying to obtain more experience/role advancements and investing four years for a degree. I think about getting a degree but I see the benefits to mean less now. In my eyes a degree will help me a bit on getting into other companies and if I switch fields for whatever reason. Though if I have a job and am somewhat confident I can get a higher level position in a different company after a year or so, I’m not sure which to pick. I honestly have no clue how difficult college will be so I’m not sure how much of an investment it would take and if it’s something I could do alongside a coding job. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.
#Should I get a degree if I currently have a job?

I would probably normally try to get a degree but for this field specifically I’m not really sure if it’s necessary or worth it.
It will help cover some fundamentals that you probably don't have, but for most jobs people gain enough knowledge after a few years that it doesn't matter.
Other than actual knowledge, there are some jobs that will filter on a degree. Most however will be fine once you have experience.
The four year hit to not working, plus tuition and associated costs, is very hard for most people in your situation to justify
